Following news from earlier this week that Jason Reitman will be directing a new Ghostbusters film, it is now being reported that the main characters are going to be teenagers. The new film is set to be a sequel to the 1984 original, evidently disregarding 2016’s all-female reboot from Paul Feig.
Both the original Ghostbusters and the 1989 follow-up Ghostbusters II were directed by Ivan Reitman, father of Jason Reitman. The franchise starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis as three former parapsychology professors who start the Ghostbusters - a paranormal investigation and elimination service (aka ghost removal). Ernie Hudson soon joins the team as the fourth member after seeing a want ad in the newspaper. The new film will take place in the same universe as the 1984 and 1989 films, with a recently released teaser trailer even drumming up nostalgia by using iconic elements. While the trailer footage isn’t likely to be seen in the actual movie, it does show a brief look at the Ecto-1 - the Ghostbusters’ vehicle - under a tarp in an old barn with the original eerie score playing in the background. Aside from the fact that it will hit theaters in summer 2020, most details about the film are still under wraps.

According to
Birth. Movies. Death., it is now believed that the main characters in the new film will be kids around the age of 12 or 13. While presently unconfirmed, sources suggests there will be as many as four teenage protagonists - two girls and two boys. Another report only mentions two kids, but the character descriptions bear a striking resemblance to traits held by Ramis’ and Aykroyd’s characters in the original. Allegedly, the film will center on a “family who moves back home to a small town…[and] learn more about who they are and the secrets of the town itself.”

Rumors about a
Ghostbusters 3 have swirled for years, but Ramis passed away and Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot hit cinemas. Aykroyd, however, insisted in late 2018 that a script with the original cast was still being written, and depending on potential appearances in the new film, he could be proven right. For his part, Aykroyd took to social media following the trailer release to all but offer up his services by saying, “If you need a tune-up, you know who to call.” Hudson also reacted on social media with a reference to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters II, suggesting he could also be game. As of this writing, there’s no word yet from Murray.

Sony kept this film a secret for a long time, even going so far as to assign it the fake title “Rust City.” Fans would be remiss to overhype its potential twists or reveals too soon, but we can’t help but wonder how the kids will come into play if reports are true. Maybe they’ll be early versions of the characters we know and love, maybe they’ll be the former Ghostbusters’ children, and maybe they’ll be completely unrelated. In any case, this is shaping up to be a potentially campier version of
Stranger Things.

[h=1]Ghostbusters 3 Gets July 2020 Release Date[/h]

Ghostbusters 3 officially secures a July 2020 release date. The Ghostbustersfranchise began in 1984 with the release of the original comedy that left a lasting imprint on pop culture, grossing nearly $300 million worldwide on a $30 million budget - but the sequel arrived five years later and only made just north of $200 million. The franchise largely disappeared for decades since, up until Sony rebooted the IP in 2016 with an all-female cast.
It was recently announced that Sony is taking a new direction with the franchise by making a true sequel to the original films. The third installment of the previous franchise had secretly been in development by Jason Reitman, who is set to direct the film and already shot a short teaser trailer. The initial reports of Ghostbusters 3 stated a plan for Sony to get the movie out in theaters next year. With the project still making headlines, Sony's now given the sequel an official release date.

Deadline revealed Sony's official placement for Ghostbusters 3 is July 10, 2020. With the early setting of the date, the third Ghostbusters film in the original continuity has no direct competition that weekend. Now that Sony has given Reitman an official date to hit, more details for the project could arrive very soon.

Although Ghostbusters 3 is the only film currently slated to open on July 10th next year, the end of summer season has very recently become a lot more competitive. This release date for Ghostbusters 3 is the latest in a flurry of moves that made July 2020 much more crowded than it was before; Sony confirmed Morbius will arrive next July (three weeks after Ghostbusters 3), Christopher Nolan's new movie will come out immediately after the long-awaited sequel, and Illumination has Minions 2 opening the week before. The latter will likely still be attracting kids and families once Ghostbusters hits theaters. This sequel may not be aimed directly at children, but a younger audience does appear to be part of Sony's targeted demographic seeing as the new story will reportedly follow four teenagers.

Meanwhile, there has yet to be a true sign that any of the original Ghostbusters will return. This will likely happen, especially since Sony is making it clear this new film is connected to the original two movies and not the 2016 reboot. Former franchise star Ernie Hudson said
he hasn't been approached about being in the new movie, but is interested in returning. His return in some fashion is probably part of Reitman's plan, as should be another appearance by Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray. At the very least, if any of them do return for Ghostbusters 3, we at least know when exactly it will happen.

[h=1]Ghostbusters 3 Casts Paul Rudd, Now Called Ghostbusters 2020[/h]

Paul Rudd is joining the cast of Ghostbusters 3, which is now going under the title Ghostbusters 2020. Three years after Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot failed to turn a profit at the box office, the paranormal franchise is making a comeback. The new film is being directed by Juno and Tully filmmaker Jason Reitman - aka. the son of Ghostbusters 1 & 2 director Jason Reitman - and will serve as the long-awaited third entry in the original Ghostbusters continuity. Production is set to get underway this summer, ahead of its July 2020 release date.
Story-wise, the movie is said to revolve around a younger generation of heroes who take up the long-abandoned ghost busting business. Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and Mckenna Grace (Annabelle Comes Home) areconfirmed to be playing two of the teenaged leads here, with The Leftovers' Carrie Coon portraying their mother. Now, it appears the film has filled another important role.

Variety is reporting that Rudd will play a teacher in what's now being referred to as Ghostbusters 2020. In a statement to the outlet, Reitman said that “I’ve been wanting to work with Paul Rudd since my short film opened for ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ at Sundance. I’m thrilled he’ll be joining this new chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe”. The official Ghostbusters Twitteraccount has also released a video featuring Rudd, as you can see below.

Ghostbusters 2020, which Reitman is writing with Gil Kenan (Monster House), is also said to include roles for original Ghostbusters stars Sigourney Weaver, Bill Murray, and Dan Aykroyd, in addition to
(possibly) Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts. The movie is expected to serve as a passing of the torch sequel, so it would make sense for Reitman to reunite the entire Ghostbusters 1984 gang here. The only exceptions, of course, will be the late Harold Ramis and Rick Moranis, who's long been retired from acting. Some fans are even speculating that one or more of the new characters in the film will be related to the original Ghostbusters and/or Weaver as Dana Barrett. That could potentially include Rudd and Coon as the movie's new adults.

Based on Variety's report, it sounds like Rudd will play Wolfhard and/or Mckenna's teacher in Ghostbusters 2020. The actor has revealed a knack for action-comedy roles with his work on the Ant-Man films, so one imagines that he should feel right at home in this franchise (which has usually mixed action, comedy, and more than a dash of supernatural horror). It remains to be seen how the rest of the movie turns out, though, and some people are reasonably burnt out on anything Ghostbusters-related after the toxic online reactions to the reboot. Still, Reitman has put together a promising cast for Ghostbusters 2020 so far.

[h=1]Ghostbusters 2020 is Officially Done Filming[/h]

Ghostbusters 2020 is officially done filming. The successful comedy-horror franchise has been through a lot over the past few years, and with Junodirector Jason Reitman now at the helm of a new entry into the mythology, fans are primed for more.
Aside from being an Oscar-nominated director, Reitman is also the son of Ivan Reitman, who directed the first two Ghostbusters movies. A third film in the series was seemingly on the mind of every Ghostbusters fan from the instant that Ghostbusters II ended its theatrical run some thirty years ago. Many years of rumours and alleged stalling by some of the key actors involved in the first two films lead many fans to give up, convinced that despite what Dan Aykroyd had been telling them, a third Ghostbusters film was just never going to happen. But then, in 2016, the impossible was announced - a newGhostbusters film was on its way. However, it ended up being a reboot and not the film that diehard fans had been wanting.

As the dust settled over the Ghostbusters reboot attempt, many fans went back to hoping for a third film - one which was faithful to the franchise’s already established storyline and characters. Sure enough, despite taking longer than hoped for to arrive, fans have again been rewarded with a sequel, and this time it does remain a part of the current Ghostbusters canon. The new film,Ghostbusters 2020 began shooting this past summer and now, according to an announcement on Reitman’s
Instagram account, we know for certain that the official third film has finished shooting. Writing “68 days and still smiling”alongside the #GB20 hashtag, Reitman’s photo can be seen below:

Pictured in the post are some of the cast, including Finn Wolfhard (
Stranger Things, IT), Carrie Coon (The Sinner), McKenna Grace (Fuller House) and newcomer Logan Kim. Though the new film is considered the thirdGhostbusters movie, it reportedly does not deal with the continued ghost busting efforts of its original 1980s cast. Instead, while some of that original are returning for cameos and smaller roles, the focus of Ghostbusters 2020 will be on children, or rather, a group of teens who decide to take on the responsibility of being Ghostbusters. An official, detailed plot has yet to be released, but fans have known for quite some time that this was the case.

It’s encouraging to read that after a 68-day shoot and all the struggle and stress that such a thing entails, Reitman can take to social media and state that he is still smiling. While the ease or quality of a film’s shoot isn’t necessarily an indicator of how good the film itself will be, a shoot in which everyone got along and things went smoothly seems like the most encouraging news that fans can take away from Ghostbusters 2020 at this particular moment in time. It will likely be a while yet until an official trailer drops but until then, Reitman’s Instagram photo is a strong vote of confidence.

    What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
    I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
