What a finale. An adrenaline rush for sure. Even at 80 minutes, I still didn't want it to end. There were a lot of scenes where the inner GOT fanboy in me was screaming with joy. And a couple of them were just jaw dropping.

So many great scenes in this episode, some of my favorites being:

- Jamie leaving Kings Landing while Snow starts falling. UTTER BEAUTY! The scenery, the winter version of GOT main theme, the calmness; I was in complete awe. What a way to show WINTER IS FINALLY HERE! Ramin Djwandi doesn't get nearly enough appreciation for his work on the series (soundtrack). Easily one of the best-produced scores I've listened to in any series, ever.

- Littlefinger's death. FUCKING FINALLY! I've been wanting to see that snake die since season 1 (After he betrayed NED), so you can imagine the joy I had. And what a way to do it, three Starks uniting against him. Man, I was actually screaming when all the charges were being laid out. Bran finally spilled the beans. :D

Hated Lord Baelish, but at the same time, he was an awesome character. And it was one of the, if not THE most satisfying deaths in the series so far.

- The Wall breaking down, OMG! I had a feeling The Wall would come down in season 7 finale as it made sense that they would set up the final season with an event like this, but man I was not ready. It looked great, sounded great, and was more EPIC than I imagined. Night King using Viserion was OH SO SWEET! Blue Flame FTW! And the mere fact that THE WALL, the iconic structure that has been with us since Season 1, is finally down (a part of it), and the White Walkers are finally through was just overwhelming.

- The Meeting. All of these characters in one place, the excitement was through the roof. I honestly didn't want this scene to end and just wanted them to talk more and more with each other. That's the beauty of such a long buildup. And it was this scene where I did wish there was one more episode in this season cause I would have loved a whole episode dedicated to the meeting.

- Jon's true heritage reveal (adding on the Tower of Joy from last season) + #Boatsex (It actually happened, was not expecting it but YAY! XD ). It tied nicely to the title 'The Dragon and the Wolf'. Jon and Dany's relationship makes so much sense and why they fell for each other so quickly, especially Dany. Jon is a combination of things she always found attractive but never got in a person until now:
He's honorable and loyal like Jorah.
He's a leader and tough/fighter, like Drogo.
He's fearless/bold, good looking and again a fighter, like Daario.
And on top of that, he has his own feats that trump all of theirs and just cements him as a person Dany never met before and the kind of person she wants to be. Now, could their relationship have taken more time? Well, yeah. For sure. But given the short and fast paced season, the way they did it here totally worked for me.

So now Jon is:

Aegon 'Jon Snow' Targaryen, Seventh of his name, the White Wolf, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the first men, Rightful heir to the Iron Throne, Protector of the Realm, Nine hundred and ninety eighth Lord Commander of the Nigth's Watch, Savior of the Free Folk, the King in the North, the Resurrected, Azor Ahai Reborn, The Prince that was promised, the Song of Ice and Fire. (copied from a YouTube comment :p )

Season 7 was great as a whole IMO. Definitely better than season 6, and much better than season 5. After 6 years of buildup, something like this season just felt right to me. More episodes would have been nice but I understand the budget restrictions and the epicness they wanted to deliver, which would not have been possible with three more episodes to account for. It was not perfect or outstanding, definitely had some issues, but eh. The good far outweighed the bad.

I just wish season 8 is coming out in 2018 and not 2019.

so john and dany both targeryon meaning brother n sister sex was going on? xD

cersei is sending all her armies to the north, maybe to stab them in the back
Well, not brother and sister. Dany is Jon's aunt. XD

Cersei is at the end of her rope it seems. She is reminding me of Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Getting crazy near the end and losing everyone who cared for her. She's gonna definitely try and screw things up, but I feel like her end is near....everyone's end is near if you think about it. We only have 6 more episodes left.

Daenerys isn't his sister.. She's his aunt - his father's sister.

And she doesn't plan on sending any of them North any time soon. She wants the Northerners and Dany's people to fight the White Walkers. Even if they win, a lot of them will die - which is what Cersei wants. She'll die mid-season.

Lord Baelish was one of my favourite characters in the show but he was a shadow of his former self since the last few seasons. Deserved better than that.

His scheming certainly was awesome in the earlier seasons, but I guess his love for Sansa turned out to be his ultimate downfall. I dunno but I loved how he died. Puppetmaster, the one who works in the shadows fully exposed in front of everybody, and taken down by the remaining Starks no less, working together. Poetic justice. The path to that could have been better, but I don't mind how it reached there.

We talk about character progression, but in Baelish's case, the writers had him regress from the most cunning man in Westeros to an imbecile. There were many things he did after leaving King's Landing that were highly uncharacteristic and unworthy of a man of his caliber of intellect. To think a man who literally worked himself and connived from the ground up, being born in no position to achieve all the power that he did all by himself alone could get himself killed like that is a bit unfair to the character. In fact, pretty much every major event in GoT was triggered by Lord Baelish, from season 1. There's certainly a strong element of poetic justice to the way he died, but the way the writers had relegated him to irrelevance and got rid of so conveniently was not right.

That being said, Gillan's performance in his death scene was the highlight of the season in terms of acting. He has been tremendous throughout the show. Really going to miss the character.

Though, I am glad the writers brought back some classic GoT with that brilliant dialogue (something which has been long missing since season 4) Baelish had with Sansa. Explains the true genius of the man quite well.

Love made him stupid I suppose. But yes the writing/plot this season has been a bit dotty. Also, plot armor. Way too thick. Sure I don't want Jaime or John to die but come on..

[h=1]Game of Thrones’ Final Season Is Most Expensive Yet[/h]

Game of Thrones season 8, the final run of HBO’s fantasy mega-hit, will reportedly be the series’ most expensive season to date. Despite having a reduced count of just six episodes, Game of Thrones’ final season won’t be cheap to make. Of course, this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, considering the massive battle ahead.
Game of Thrones season 7 ended with the Night King bursting through The Wall at Eastwatch atop the undead corpse of Viserion – a moment so iconic that it’s already been adapted into a Funko Pop figure. Meanwhile, Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen and Kit Harington’s Jon Snow made good ib their romantic alliance, at the exact same moment that Bran and Sam worked out that Dany and Jon are related. It will be two Targaryens with two dragons against the Night King’s horde of White Walkers and reanimated creatures, then, in the final season of the show.

Nobody would expect the full realization of this conflict to come cheap, but the sheer scale of HBO’s projected spending is somewhat surprising, if this report turns out to be accurate. The source of the numbers is Variety, and they claim that HBO is expecting to foot a bill amount to more than $15 million per episode. By TV standards, that is an absolutely huge spend.

Variety notes that the “$15 million-plus price tag is due in part to a shooting schedule that more resembles that of a feature film than an episodic series.” Indeed, shooting Thrones means filming in multiple continents at once, which is a far cry from the usual studio-heavy TV shtick. And all the special effects, which can’t look schlocky for fear of ruining the magic, only add to the hefty bill that HBO has to pick up.
However, HBO has little need to worry. Game of Thrones started out as a cheaper show with lots of dialogue scenes and a budget of roughly $6 million per episode. As everyone hoped, it has since grown into a weekly dose of blockbuster fantasy action that millions of fans devour around the globe. Season 7 reportedly cost around $10 million per episode, and it’s a logical progression for season 8 to cost even more.
As Variety’s report notes, the show’s success has opened up “dozens of healthy revenue streams for HBO”, including a never-ending mountain of merchandise that includes the aforementioned Funko figures. HBO’s investment in Game of Thrones will also reap rewards after the show has finished. Merchandise and streaming rights will continue to generate profit, and the much-talked-about spinoff series – there are now five in development – are bound to create new ways for fans to part with their cash.
HBO needn’t worry about spending big this year, then. Thrones, as a brand, will keep them in gold for the foreseeable future. A show this popular always pays its debts.

[h=1]Game of Thrones Season 8 Will Be Filming Until Summer 2018[/h]

Evidence is starting to pile up that Game of Thrones season 8 won’t be hitting the small screen until 2019, now that cast member Liam Cunningham has confirmed that the show will be shooting into summer 2018.
Game of Thrones is coming off its most watched season ever, with season 7. One of the most popular shows on television right now, the HBO behemoth’s seventh season was was shorter than usual – totaling seven episodes instead of the usual ten – but accelerated the series’ many ongoing plots at an almost dizzying clip; bringing together long-separated characters and upping the show’s epic, blockbuster scale considerably, as the war with the Night King and his White Walkers approaches.
[h=4]
Game of Thrones
season 8 was confirmed as being even shorter than season 7 awhile back, with only six episodes but at supersized lengths – something that has now been reaffirmed by Ser Davos Seaworth himself. In an interview with TV Guide, Cunningham confirmed the expanded episode run times for season 8, and also hinted that we won’t be seeing the season for quite sometime still:[/h]

“[The episodes are] definitely going to be bigger and what I hear is longer. We’re filming right up until the summer. When you think about it, up until last season we’d have six months to do ten episodes, so we’re [doing] way more than that for six episodes. So that obviously will translate into longer episodes.”

The good news here is the seeming confirmation of expanded episode run times for season 8, rumored to be in the neighborhood of 90 minutes each. That would make each entry essentially the length of a feature film – though the critics of season seven’s supersized finale may not greet this news so warmly.
The bad news is that shooting through summer 2018 all but confirms the show will not return until 2019, which will be the longest gap between seasons of Game of Thrones ever. It seems likely HBO will lean on the second season of their sci-fi western hit Westworld as their flagship series of 2018. Westworld season 1 didn’t manage to capture the cultural zeitgeist to the degree that Game of Thrones has, but that could change in the robot drama’s sophomore run.
Fans will no doubt be disappointed by the extended wait to see how Game of Thrones ultimately wraps up. Fortunately, it sounds as though HBO is giving the show’s producers all the time and resources they need to make sure they stick the landing.

[h=1]Game of Thrones Production to Pause for Kit Harington’s[/h]

Production on Game of Thrones season 8 will halt so the cast can attend Kit Harington and Rose Leslie’s wedding, it’s been revealed. The Jon Snow and Ygritte actors announced their engagement last month, and the much-loved couple was in the news again recently, when details of Harington’s April Fool’s Day prank came to light.
The news that Harington and Leslie’s nuptials will necessitate a break in filming is the latest piece of evidence to suggest that Game of Thrones season 8 won’t be ready for broadcast until 2019. Iain Glen already explained that shooting will take longer than usual due to the fact that most of the main players are sharing scenes now – thus making it harder to have multiple units filming different scenes at the same time. Production is starting soon on the new season, and it’s believed that filming will continue until summer 2018.
[h=4]Harington revealed the fact that filming will stop because of his wedding during an appearance on a British chat show, The Jonathan Ross Show. The actor recalled contacting the producers of Game of Thrones and explaining that he is due to wed to Leslie, whom he met on the set of the show several years prior:[/h]

“I rang [the producer] up and I said, ‘I’m getting married and it’s your fault, actually.’ […] I was like, ‘You need to factor in a Game of Thrones wedding by the way. They [the cast and crew] have all got to be there so the whole thing has got to shut down.’”

Clearly, Harington has become a hugely important part of the show, to the point that he can demand a break in filming in order to tie the knot with his former co-star. He and Leslie haven’t publicly announced a date yet, but when they do, the Game of Thrones production team will have to work around it. It’s currently unclear where the wedding will take place, and how long the filming break will have to last for.
Although it is exciting for Thrones fans to see a beloved couple from the show getting married in real life, it is somewhat unfortunate that Harington and Leslie may delay the arrival ofseason 8 in doing so. Still, the gap between new episodes is already due to be longer than a year, so what difference will a few extra days make? Most fans won’t mind waiting a bit longer for the show’s “monumental” final season.

Saw it on Monday, they had to show a lot of stuff in the first episode due to the 2 year break. Excited to see what lies ahead only 5 episodes left now, the army of the dead are near winterfell so we might see something crazy in the 2nd episode.

I was thinking of watching all the episodes in one go after they've aired on tv but couldn't resist. :tv:
