Hi PakGamers. As of late I got my hands on another PSU stage that for the most part tends to the gamers like us. Indeed it the FSP Hydro GE 650W. The Hydro GE line incorporates three units, and today we're trying the 650W variant. The PSU is 80 or more Gold ensured and highlights completely secluded cabling. How about we perceive how it performs.

Fortron Source Power (FSP) was established in 1995 and is presently one of the biggest PSU producers on the planet. FSP produces a wide range of PSUs, from control blocks and open-outline units to ODM and OEM models, modern units, even power supplies for LCD TVs. Notwithstanding its OEM work, FSP likewise has retail nearness with 13 product offerings arranged into three principle classifications: premium, expert and standard.
FSP's new Hydro GE line has a place with the exceptional classification, alongside FSP's Aurum PT and Aurum Pro models. Presently, the organization just has three Hydro GE arrangements with limits going from 650W to 850W. The arrangement is still little and we anticipate that FSP will widen it sooner rather than later as is commonly said Power Never Ends. In any case, the current models focus on the most famous wattage classes, and with the correct sticker prices, they can offer enormous presentation to FSP in the event that they perform well.

Every one of the three units in the Hydro GE line are 80 Plus Gold confirmed and completely particular. Most devotees these days incline toward measured links over regular/secure ones, regardless of whether that makes the PSU more costly. Full measured quality makes association genuinely less demanding and, over that, link administration turns out to be less agonizing. Another preferred standpoint of measured links is that accomplished clients can alter/sleeve them to their enjoying. Before, there was some wariness about secluded links, particularly with high-limit PSUs, since it was trusted that additional associations could influence effectiveness and load direction. After some time, be that as it may, it was demonstrated that the misfortunes acquired through secluded links weren't sufficiently expansive to raise cautions.

Other than the Gold proficiency (which is 80 or more), the Hydro GE 650W can convey its full power consistently at up to 50 °C. It includes all fundamental wellbeing highlights, including the over-temperature assurance (OTP) that we generally call attention to is so essential. The power supply is cooled by a Hydro Dynamic Bearing fan, which has numerous likenesses to Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) fans. Notwithstanding, the FDB plan and naming plan is licensed by Matsushita, which implies that any organization that uses this outline, alongside the bearing name, needs to pay a charge. Since a few organizations would prefer not to do that, they designed comparable bearing composes with somewhat unique names; issue settled. The Hydro G 650 additionally includes a semi-latent mode, which encourages it to be quiet under light loads.

FSP could have trimmed the supply's measurements since it's a lower-limit unit. Be that as it may, the organization rather reused a similar body on the greater part of its Hydro G models to disentangle generation and cut expenses.

Unboxing

There's a photograph of the PSU on the front of the box showing its changeable stickers. FSP bundles two sets of these so you can alter the supply's look to match your hardware. In the
Bottom-left corner, a series of icons depict the 80 Plus Gold efficiency, the semi-passive mode, the fully modular cabling and the Japanese electrolytic caps that this unit uses. The capacity description is found in the opposite corner.
On one of the two sides you get a description of the included cables, though there's no info on their length. On the other side of the box is the power specifications table and two graphs, illustrating the efficiency and fan noise curves.

https://ibb.co/hX6MRL

The back has lots of interesting information, including a long feature list and a photo of the PSU's internals, highlighting the HDB fan, the dedicated PCB that regulates the 5VSB rail, the secondary side's DC-DC converters and the heat sinks that cool down the +12V FETs, which are installed on the solder side of the main PCB. We're always happy to see manufacturers providing a look at their products' internals, along with extra information on specific parts. The PSU is well-protected in the box since it is covered by packing foam. Right next to it, we find a box containing the modular cables, a pair of Velcro straps, and the AC power cord, a set of fixing bolts, the user's manual and a pair of sticker sets. The external design is nice thanks to the nonrestrictive fan grille and the unique front exhaust grille. The only downside is the glossy finish, which is a fingerprint magnet. The decals on the sides aren't particularly nice, but you can change them using one of the sticker sets that FSP adds to its bundle. Finally, the specifications label is found on the bottom of the supply. The modular panel doesn't include many sockets. Not only is this due to the PSU's moderate capacity, but also because the pair of PCIe cables hosts two connectors each. The EPS (CPU) socket isn't compatible with the PCIe cables and vice versa. We'd really like to see a couple of EPS cables on this PSU, or FSP could equip it with a cable featuring two connectors on the other end. Some high-end mainboards need an additional EPS or ATX12V connector, and we don't like using Molex to EPS/ATX12V adapters. After all, four-pin Molex connectors are designed for much lower currents than the EPS connector. On top of that, extra connections increase wire resistance, affecting efficiency.
Overall, this is a good-looking PSU that stands out from the crowd. The dimensions are a little larger than they need to be. However, any ATX case should accommodate it without a problem.

Power Specification
Rail3.3V5V12V5VSB-12V
Max. PowerAmps252554.163.50.5
Watts150649.9217.56
Total Max. Power (W)650

The minor rails are very strong for a modern PSU. Even 1kW+ units don't include such potent specs. The 5VSB rail is also beefy, especially for a 650W PSU, while the +12V rail can deliver the PSU's full power on its own.
Cables and Connector
Modular Cables
DescriptionCable CountConnector Count (Total)
ATX connector 20+4 pin (600mm)11
4+4 pin EPS12V (700mm)11
6+2 pin PCIe (500mm+150mm)24
SATA (510mm+150mm) / Four-pin Molex (+150mm+150mm)24 / 4
SATA (510mm+150mm+150mm+150mm)14
SATA (510mm+150mm) / Four-pin Molex (+150mm) / FDD (+150mm)12 / 1 / 1

All cables are pretty long, while the distance between connectors is satisfactory (although less distance between the SATA connectors would come handy in a majority of cases). The number of PCIe connectors is high enough, but we would like to see at least a couple of EPS connectors instead of just one. There are plenty of SATA connectors; the same goes for four-pin Molex connectivity. Finally, all cables use standard 18-gauge wires, which are recommended by the ATX spec.

Load Regulation and Efficiency
Load regulation on the +12V and 5V rails is tight enough, while the 3.3V and 5VSB rails are looser. What matters most as far as load regulation is concerned, though, is the +12V rail's performance. In this case, it's kept within 1.2 percent, which is the second-best performance in this category, according to our charts.
Fewer than 20 percent load, the unit easily clears the 80 Plus Gold requirements. It comes very close to the required 90 percent efficiency with a 50 percent load applied. In the full load test, efficiency is less than 0.5 percent away from the minimum allowed percentage. We're giving the Hydro G a pass since we conduct our tests at a much higher temperature than the 80 Plus organization.
The fan doesn't start spinning until we hit 40 percent load; its noise exceeds 40 dB (A) in the 70 percent load test. Even under a full load, the controller doesn't allow the fan to spin at full speed. That only happens during the overload test, at which point the fan exceeds 2000 RPM and gets really loud.
Besides good performance and an affordable price, the Hydro GE 650 is also quiet enough to meet the demands of most enthusiasts. Corsair's and EVGA's offerings do offer even quieter operation, though
PROS

  • Full power at 47°C
  • Price
  • Efficient
  • Silent
  • Ripple suppression
  • Japanese electrolytic caps
  • Fully modular
  • Hold-up time
  • Strong and efficient 5VSB rail
  • HDB fan
  • Warranty
  • External design
  • Changeable side stickers

CONS

  • Can become really loud under extreme conditions
  • 3.3V load regulation
  • PWR_OK hold-up time
  • Noticed a small quality problem on the mainboard of our sample

Final Verdict
Enthusiasts will undoubtedly find this new FSP platform interesting since it offers good overall performance, including tight load regulation on the +12V rail and good ripple suppression on all of the rails. On top of that, it is efficient and with 115V input we measured a nearly 88 percent overall efficiency score.
Every Hydro GE model comes equipped with the most efficient 5VSB rail we've ever seen on a desktop PSU. On top of that, it is very rare to see 3.5A max current output at 5VSB, even in units with over 1kW capacity. Unfortunately, in most cases, power supply manufacturers don't really care about 5VSB, so they use outdated circuits. A characteristic example is Super Flower's celebrated Leadex platform. Despite its popularity, the design has a weak and inefficient 5VSB rail, even as the rest of the design is cutting-edge. We don't know why manufacturers like Super Flower disregard this rail, but FSP sets the example of how to treat 5VSB right.
Besides looking nice and including changeable side stickers, the Hydro GE 650 also features modular cabling with high-quality cables and semi-passive operation under light loads. The finish could be better though; we simply don't like glossy finishes because they attract fingerprints and are prone to scratching. It would have been nice for FSP to use a matte finish instead, which is more resistant to fingerprints and scratches.
It is always nice to see new additions to the PSU market. Choice is often limited since two or three OEMs dominate the field. As a result, most models are based on the same platforms. We expect FSP to widen its Hydro GE line with more PSUs, covering a wider wattage range. In addition, the company should also take a look at the low hold-up time of its power-good signal, which can be tuned to satisfy the ATX specification's requirements. In addition, we would like to see tighter load regulation at 3.3V, although this rail is only lightly used in modern systems.

I'm in the market for a new PSU and I was looking at the 700w FSP Hyper K and was thinking was it a good PSU since I've never heard of the company but it offers 85% efficiency over the CoolerMaster 600w Green power supply?
I've been away from this forum for awhile but came back cause confused which PSU I should go for, What do you think? Is this new company offering reliable components? my previous VS550 lasted 6-7 years

Bro FSP is one of the most experienced, respected & recognizable name and OEM in the PSU's business, despite having its own PSU's. It is supplying PSU parts to other companies like Thermaltake, Antec, BeQuiet!, EVGA, etc.
So go with FSP brand PSU!

Considered FSP PSUs when I was buying a new PSU but eventually went with Thermaltake Grand Power, as it looked better in my opinion and had good reviews (the ones who didn't sound like idiots).

FSP has decent rep. I was considering their case as well (that all glass one) but it's poor airflow changed my mind.

So with which case do you went? As the airflow is always the issue with front Tempered glass panels chassis!

View 71. It is extremely airy due to huge gaps between the glass and the metal body.

I tried to create negative pressure to avoid dust issues. Still tinkering with it. Currently have 2x140mm at the front, 1x120mm at bottom pulling air in and 3x120mm pulling air out.

I've mounted the radiator in a non-optimal position because.. It looks good :tv: it's basically facing the right panel.

Oh bro at this price point you have had gone for Cooler Master h500P (MESH interior Model) with massive 2x200mm RGB intake fans and plenty of room for water cooling options!

I considered it. It's reviews were bad though. The build quality. It seemed so flimsy.. The top panel basically just kinda sits freely. The front one too.

No bro The bad reviews were for the sealed Tempered Glass model one of H500p and not the Mesh front interior design model.

The mesh front interior design is hands down the best Airflow design, based on many reviews online.

Oh yeah you're right. But tbh I'd have still gone with the View 71. I just really like the way it looks. A full TG case with excellent airflow.
