The Epic Games Store’s next two free games are Watch Dogsand The Stanley Parable. PC gamers who have the EGS client installed may pick them up from March 19-26.
Ubisoft’s open-world techno-thriller and Galactic Cafe’s walking simulator follow Anodyne 2: Return to Dust, A Short Hike, and Mutazione, which are available from now until March 19.
Watch Dogs inaugurated Ubisoft’s latest open-world franchise in 2014. It was followed byWatch Dogs 2 in 2016, and the series will see Watch Dogs: Legionlaunch sometime later this year. The action-adventure game places players in the role of hacker Aiden Pearce in a fictionalized Chicago whose technological systems may all be exploited to help Pearce complete his objectives.
The Stanley Parable launched on Windows PC in 2013 after starting as a Half-Life 2mod in 2011. The critically acclaimed narrative game leads the player through a number of branching paths toward one of several different endings, to form a broader commentary on decision-making and player choice.
Since 2019, the Epic Games Store has been giving out games every week to players who download and install its client on their PC. Epic said in January that it will continue the offers at least until the end of 2020.

The free games from the Epic Games Store next week are Just Cause 4and Wheels of Aurelia, and they’ll be available to download and keep from April 16-23.
Just Cause 4 should require little introduction; it’s the fourth installment of Avalanche Studios’ wildly over-the-top, open-world action-adventure franchise, starring secret agent/amazing badass Rico Rodriguez. It launched in 2018 to a lukewarm critical reception, though. Our review called it “a tired retread of old ideas.” Just Cause 4 was recently added to the libraries of both Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Now.
Wheels of Aurelia launched in September 2016, and its branching, multiple-ending narrative tells the story of an Italian woman on a road trip in her country. Players can visit a number of cities in northern Italy and pick up hitchhikers; their encounters range from a highway race to robbing a bank.
The free games available right now until 11 a.m. ET on April 16 are Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments and 2019’s Close to the Sun, a survival horror adventure guest-starring Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison. Crimes & Punishments comes with six cases for the legendary sleuth to solve.
Epic Games has offered free games since the service launched at the end of 2018. To get them, users have to sign up for an Epic Games Store account and download its client. Epic said in January that the free games will continue until at least the end of 2020.

Some users are getting a weird error message

Epic Games reported Friday that some Epic Games Store users are getting an error when trying to download free games, like the newly added Grand Theft Auto 5. The error suggests that there are accounts that can no longer download free games — Epic said this is an error that it’s aware of.
The fix? Unfortunately, you’ve just got to wait 24 hours.
“We’re aware that some users are encountering the following error message on the Epic Games Store: ‘Your account is unable to download any more free games at this time,’” Epic tweeted. “If you receive this error, please wait 24 hours. You should then be able to proceed with downloading the game.”

The Epic Games Store has been struggling to keep up with demand for GTA 5, which it started offering up for free on Thursday. Shortly before the game was scheduled to go live on the platform, the servers were knocked offline, likely by the sheer number of people trying to access the website and Launcher. The store remained unstable for hours on Thursday; Epic confirmed servers were back online at 11 p.m. EDT, 12 hours after the game initially hit the platform.
Epic Games gives away free games weekly on its platform, and it’s been doing so since 2019. The latest, GTA 5, is available until May 21 — but players will be able to keep (and play) the game beyond that date.

The Epic Games Store kicked off a four-week sale on Thursday, offering discounts of up to 75% off dozens of PC games — and, of course, giving away Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 5.
Epic’s “Mega Sale” has discounts on PC games like Control, Borderlands 3, Metro Exodus,Shenmue 3, and Anno 1800, all of which are 50% off during the sale. The full list of games and their various discounts is available at Epic’s website, but some of the more substantial discounts apply to older games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (70% off), Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (67% off), and Alan Wake (90% off).
Sweetening the deal is a $10 coupon that can be earned by signing into your Epic Games account. It can be used on eligible games or add-ons priced at $14.99 or above. And for any eligible purchase of $14.99 or more on the Epic Games Store, Epic will give buyers another $10 coupon for their next purchase. More details are available at Epic’s FAQ.
