Elden Ring [OT] Shadow of the Erdtree expansion announced











"As somebody who's played all of Miyazaki's games over at least the last decade, this is clearly the most ambitious game that he's done," he says. "I mean, I love his games, but seeing some of the gameplay mechanics stuff that he's tackling, he and the team are tackling this time, of the setting, working with another creator in terms of story. I love it."

The other creator Spencer mentions is, of course, Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin, who has worked on the story for the upcoming open world game.

According to Spencer, Elden Ring is Miyazaki "expanding his horizons." He also says that leaves the room while Spencer plays. "I think that's because I'm a bad player, and then when he comes back we'll have a conversation about things that I think," he says. "He's so passionate about what he does. It's one of the things I just love about getting to work with him on some of these games and seeing them come to our platform."

This is exactly what I want from From Software. Breaking away from the tired Souls formula got us Sekiro so this sounds great. Really hope we get to see gameplay soon.

Not sure why the Quality mode is running unlocked, a locked 30 FPS is way better than an unlocked 30~50.
This could change for the final release but its common in From Software games to run unlocked above 30fps (Dark Souls 3, Sekiro) in last-gen enhanced consoles.

As for "locked 30fps", well, From Software's 30fps lock has always been broken with frame pacing issues as well. Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne and Sekiro all have frame pacing issues in 30fps mode.

Now imagine this coupled with shader compilation stutters. From's games don't compile shaders at startup like Forza Horizon 5 does, and this is their first open world game. Go figure 🤣

I mean, if the Series X gpu, which trades blows with an RTX 2080S aka an RTX 3060TI, is performing worse than the PS5, someone sporting an RTX 3070 shouldn't be feeling so happy right now 🤣

Something's not right here, and the Series X should be performing better than the PS5. The latter usually only outperforms the former when 120fps is the target frame rate, as such scenarios tend to favor higher gpu clocks.

You're forgetting the benefit of playing on PC: not being restricted to a "waste of resources" resolution (and ability to use a 40fps lock if you fancy that lol) and whatever modes the developers chooses :ROFLMAO:

Done with Margit as well as that multi-arm thing. Guess I've seen pretty much everything there is to see in the beta. The path past the flaming arrow-throwing archers is sealed off.

The PS5 version is better optimized right now but frame rate is toss-up between PS5 and SX, neither of them are anywhere close to a consistent frame rate.

However, playing the PS4 Pro version in BC mode gets you a solid 60 FPS at 1800CB resolution.

Last gen consoles are capped at 30fps, with the From Software signature frame pacing issues.
