Doom Eternal is coming to Nintendo Switch. The launch announcement was somehow overshadowed in the QuakeCon excitement earlier today, but a news release from Bethesda Softworks confirms that the shooter will launch for the Switch alongside versions for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
Doom Eternal, the sequel to 2016’s Doom reboot from id Software, will be ported to Switch by Panic Button, which also ported the 2016 game and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus to Switch. Bethesda confirmed Panic Button’s involvement to Polygon.

Doom Eternal was announced at E3 2018 and it continues the story reintroduced withDoom, a critically acclaimed return to one of video gaming’s staple brands and genres. It was Polygon’s game of the year for 2016. In the sequel, players will be fighting on an Earth overrun by demons.
We have more coverage of Doom Eternal from QuakeCon — such as the ability for players to take control of demons and go eff up another human player’s campaign. There will be new weapons including a shoulder-mounted flamethrower, a melee blade and a new dash ability, to help the player deal with a force from Hell.
No release date has been specified for Doom Eternal yet.

id Software’s 2016 reboot of Doom was amazing. Its only fault was that there wasn’t more of it. Instead of releasing new single-player content for the game, id Software focused on DLC for the multiplayer side of Doom, its much weaker component. That’s changing for id’s follow-up, Doom Eternal.
At QuakeCon today, I asked game director Marty Stratton if we can expect more campaign-focused DLC for the sequel (which doesn’t have an announced release date yet, so it’s admittedly a bit premature to ask).
His answer: “Absolutely.”
“Honestly, if there’s one thing thing that I would like to go back and do different is to give people more of the [Doom] campaign post-launch,” Stratton said. “You know, more follow-up DLC from a campaign perspective. So we’re already planning that and I’m looking forward to it. We’ll talk about our whole plan.”
It sounds like Doom Eternal’s post-launch campaign content is being designed in mind with its new multiplayer feature, Invasions, which will let players invade the campaigns of other players as hellspawn.
“It’s fun, too, because when we when we look at doing campaign DLC, and then we [can] have something like Invasion play a part in it, you know, it just, it kind of makes it even more valuable to have that,” he said. “We really love the replayability of the game — we love playing the game over and over and over. We love that people are still playing the game, and on their 20th time through the campaign or doing a speedrun or, you know, maxing out all of their guns or whatever. And [we want to give] people more reasons to come back, whether it’s Invasion, or DLC, it’s really important to us.”
Doom Eternal is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.

Doom Eternal will be released on Nov. 22, id Software announced at Bethesda’s E3 2019 press conference on Sunday. The game is coming to Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One.
id Software released a new story trailer for Doom Eternal, showing the Doom Slayer in action and the scores of hellspawn intent on stopping his cosmic killing spree. You can watch that above.
Just as important was the reveal of Doom Eternal’s collector’s edition. The premium version of the game will come with a bunch of goodies: a Doom lore book, lithograph, Steelbook case, some digital cosmetic content, yadda yadda yadda, and this very nice looking wearable Doom Slayer helmet!

At 1080p and 60 fps, Doom Eternal worked pretty much flawlessly, and I played it using Google’s custom Stadia controller that comes bundled with its Founder’s Edition for $130 (with a Chromecast Ultra and three months of service) or sold separately for $69. A Stadia spokesperson later confirmed to The Verge that the server streaming Doom Eternal was a remote one in a Google data center, meaning it was not brought into LA specifically for the event.
For me, the experience was quite impressive. I could not detect any noticeable input lag, and there was no discernible on-screen effects indicating the visuals were being streamed from a cloud server to the Pixelbook, and then from the Pixelbook to the Samsung TV. Granted, I wasn’t playing an online game, so there’s no telling what types of latency issues you might run into there. But had you not told me I was playing a Doom Eternal streamed over the internet, I wouldn’t have been able to tell.

Now, there were a couple issues I encountered. At one point, my Stadia stream stopped receiving inputs from the Stadia controller, leaving my unfortunate Doom Eternal character squashed up against a wall while I got pounded on by angry demons. Instead of rebooting the stream, we just waited for my character to die, unplugged the controller, and re-synced it. I was good to go again in about two to three minutes.
At another point about 25 minutes into the demo, the stream did crash. There was no telling what the culprit was; Google says the platform is about six months out from launch, so it’s reasonable to expect some issues while it irons out these kinks. That said, we were up and running again in less a minute after simply reloading the Chrome browser window and resuming full-screen mode.

Doom Eternalwill have three free Doomguy skins at launch and all of them rock an aluminum four-pack of rectus abdominis.
You can put more Men’s Health in your Doom Eternal by having the re-releases of Doom, Doom 2 and/or Doom 3, plus a Slayers Club card and a Bethesda.net account. Link the latter two, and a skin corresponding to the game (indigo, bronze and red, respectively) will be inDoom Eternal when that launches.
And that at last solves the mystery of why the classic Dooms pestered people for Bethesda.net logins back in July! Bethesda quickly patched out the goof, which effectively tied the games to an Internet connection and gave rise to a day-zero meme and multitudes of social media dunks. When Bethesda fixed the mistake, they explained that they had put it in so they could reward Slayers Club members for playing the classics. Now we know the reward.
Doom, Doom 2 and Doom 3 are available ($4.99 for the first two, $9.99 for the third) onPlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Doom Eternal launches on Nov. 22 on all of those platforms plus Windows PC.

    I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
