i terminated the service and wasted some money down the drain. how can pakistanis tolerate this BS i will never understand and we praise them like they are the best thing in the world. Absolute BS service. and we say china is bad for internet wake up pakis

VPN does not work!? I use one all the time (hosting my own OpenVPN server and using a random one from the iOS store)

Which ones are you trying to use? I'm intrigued 🤔

I agree 100%. This BS has been happening since the last year or so. Anything on Transworld routes is subject to a form of deep packet inspection resulting in suspicious packets (UDP, TCP on 1194, anything for WireGuard) being blocked

Your only hope atm is using obfuscated protocols (Stunnel/SSH) or those developed by the Chinese against the great firewall (a google search will help you out on that). Of course you need your own server too which isn't too expensive

It's a good thing I'll be moving out of this place soon; I don't understand why the common people (at least the literate) don't speak out on this abject intrusion of freedom of access of information. Pakistan will be China 2.0 soon!

I was on Nayatel too - ditched them for this reason (and others). Great customer service, but this VPN issue isn't exactly their own fault (it's TW's fault). But Nayatel won't stick to PTCL nor change routes any longer for residential connections.

There was one workaround - host your own VPN on a common port (which can't be blocked) - but you'll have to pay for your own VPS server which will be restricted to one location (unless you have the money and the resources).

Yeah, I use a VPS solution. WireGuard, OpenVPN still do not work without obfuscation. There are other methods too, developed by the Chinese against their 'Great Firewall' but I'm not willing to give the molvis at PTA any more ideas!

Exactly - it's tricky sharing VPN info online when the state is against VPNs and banning them willy nilly.

Blithering idiots.

Because they're routing through PIE right now.

When they use TW, that's when it gets messy beyond repair.

I still recommend Nayatel, the other providers are worse than them, at least in Islamabad. I use a paid VPN service which is always running. I use split tunnelling with Edge to browse all VPN / PK restricted sites. The subscription is only about 1.5k/month for 5 devices, and gives my full connection speed of 50mbps, even on double hop.

Frankly I didn't face an out right 404 or connection failure with my vpn provider. Since PTA installed that DPI system, I switched to Wireguard double hop with my provider. That has worked awesomely and this year I was able to switch back to normal Wireguard with same provider.

Rarely do I get a scenario in which the connections stop working after few minutes. The trick to that is to connect and wait a minute doing nothing with minimal traffic.

your suggestion really helped me. I also started using wiregaurd protocol and no disconnection and speed is very good to nearby servers. and also the trick works very well. Kudos to you

That's because these days, Nayatel is routing their traffic through PIE.

When they silently shift to TW, you'll face issues.

From what I can suggest, use the open ports for your VPN connections (e.g. 443, 80, 53, and maybe some other nonstandard ports such as 3128 or 8080) because TW tends to block the UDP protocol on uncommon ports, it appears.

They also can't block 80 or 443 because of HTTP/HTTPS traffic (otherwise they'll be blocking everything).

If you can somehow tweak the VPN according to these parameters, then you're golden. If not, it may be a cat-and-mouse game.

Nayatel, otherwise, are consistent. Hell, even PTCL's fiber is reliable (it's their customer support which can be an utter pain in the neck if you're unlucky).

With TW it really depends, if you are a gamer then it is bad regardless as they have their bottleneck in the UAE link which suffers greatly at night. They route all EU and US traffic through there.

But if you are someone like me who just wants to do anything else then you can route to Singapore or Hongkong to avoid it completely. That's why my default VPN servers are in Singapore. I also don't face issues with VPN on TW contrary to your experience.

I do recall that VPN connections to Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia would be fine, but to Europe/US wouldn't. But that was long ago. Which country do you connect to?

Mostly Singapore, sometimes Romania. On double hop, I usually do UAE - Italy or UAE - Romania.

Your own vpn and wireguard work mostly but they do knock it off some times with deep packet inspection so it will lose connection , without vpn games like destiny 2 , warframe or any game that works on p2p connection will have session bugged a always and are unplayable , thi started in june 2020 and it's still happening , no ISP is willing to admit it

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
