[h=1]Legends of Tomorrow Season 3 Will Include Rip Hunter[/h]

[This article contains SPOILERS for Legends of Tomorrow.]–
The CW is slowly trying to corner the market on DCEU TV properties, with newest additions Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow racking up decent ratings for the network. The latter show, which often combines and crosses over with fellow Arrowverse properties Arrow and The Flash, follows an ensemble team of unlikely heroes as they traverse through space and time to stop an unspeakable future evil.
The show concluded its second season this Tuesday to much discussion. The series left fans puzzling over a number of twists, as the Legends banded together to confront — and destroy — a horrifying alternate reality. The team’s assembler and former leader, Rip Hunter, also chose to depart, leaving the Legends in Sara Lance’s very capable hands. The series bid a touching goodbye to the original character, but recent reports reveal that we haven’t seen the last of Hunter.

According to TVLine, Rip Hunter may be gone from the team, but he’s not gone from the show. The tortured British time traveler is slated to return, per showrunner Marc Guggenheim, who said, “We’ve got plans for Rip for next year . . . It’s just in a different capacity than him being a member of the team.” Guggenheim also confirmed that the 2017 Los Angeles we saw in the series finale will not bleed over into other Arrowverse shows. The showrunner stated, “There will be an explanation in Season 3 as to why you’re not seeing dinosaurs run through Central City.”

It was certainly a treat for fans to see Arthur Darvill take on the mantle of Rip Hunter, as the actor rose to prominence as companion Rory during the early days of Steven Moffat’s crack at Doctor Who. It’s interesting to know that we haven’t seen the last of the broody mentor, who assembled the original Legends in an attempt to alter history and save his family. His departure from the team in this week’s finale was fairly expected, as Hunter spent most of his season 2 arc alienated from the main group. He reappeared several times throughout the team’s travels, with little memory of his original identity, before coming back to his senses in episode 13, ‘Land of the Lost.’
It would certainly be a shame to see Rip gone from the show forever, but here’s hoping that this planned return is spaced out and well-timed. It would be cool to see Rip as a recurring character that re-joins the team now and again to share his futuristic intel, but we don’t want to get jerked around by the former regular popping in and out of the show. All of the Arrowverse properties deal with returning familiar faces, with varied success, so it’d be great to see Rip’s return nicely blended into season 3.

[h=1]Legends of Tomorrow Season 3 Casts Tala Ashe as Zari Adrianna Tomaz[/h]

Legends of Tomorrow has found a new member of the Waverider, with Tala Ashe joining the season 3 cast as Zari Adrianna Tomaz. Since its inception, Legends has been an ensemble piece that would rotate in and out a cast of characters from various point in time. While the core group was extracted from the other Arrowverse TV shows, it has since added new players straight from the world of DC Comics. Just like season 2, the third season will feature some new members, alongside the returning cast.
Thanks to the endless possibilities that Legends can play with, it is always difficult to predict what heroes will be joining the team next. But, with the end of Legends of Tomorrow season 2 showing just how badly the Legends had messed up time this round, the show’s heroes will need all the help they can get in fixing things. It’s a good thing they’re getting some extra assistance, then.
The CW has announced that Tala Ashe has joined the cast as Zari Adrianna Tomaz – who has also gone by the name Isis. Tomaz is a character that actually debuted outside of the DC Comics, and instead in The Secrets of Isis back in the 1970s. Her most recent comic reboot sees her gain abilities through the Amulet of Isis gifted to her by Black Adam and Shazam. CBR has also released a character description for her:
Ashe’s character is described by the network as a Muslim-American woman from the year 2030 who lives in a world of contradictions: “Technology has brought about incredible change in her future — too bad human nature hasn’t kept pace. Fear, prejudice and a lack of care for the planet have forced Zari to become a ’grey hat hacktivist.’ A computer nerd with a wry, combative attitude. A woman living a double life who doesn’t realize that she has secret, latent powers derived from an ancient, mystical source.”

Should Tomaz use the Amulet of Isis in Legends season 3 as the source of her abilities, it would not be the first time that a hero on the show has used an artifact as the power source for their abilities (see Vixen last season). It is unclear if the show will connect Tomaz to Shazam/Black Adam in anyway at this point. Even if the series does not, her god-like power set of super strength, durability, speed, healing, flight, and more should draw those comparisons on their own.
This addition will now give Legends three female leads, each further diversifying an already-diverse cast. Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) is bisexual, Vixen (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) is an African-American lead and Tomaz will bring a Muslim, female hero to the small screen. The show has found a great way to deal with social issues in the past and including Tomaz in season 3 could allow for them to do so again.

[h=1]Legends of Tomorrow: Vixen Confirmed For Season 3[/h]

Vixen is back for Season 3 of Legends of Tomorrow. Season 2 of the series ended on a startling cliffhanger, upsetting our heroes just as they were off to Aruba for a relaxing, much-needed vacation. The team’s tampering with their own timelines led to the defeat of the Legion of Doom and disabling of the Spear of Destiny, but had an unexpected side effect of creating a 2017 reality filled with dinosaurs and other anachronisms plucked from the Legends’ previous journeys.
Another time-related issue lurking for season 3 of Legends of Tomorrow is the destiny of Amaya Jiwe aka Vixen (Maisie Richardson-Sellers). The season 2 finale left us with Amaya and Nate Heywood (Nick Zano) wanting to pursue a romantic relationship, but aware that the future depended on her returning to her own timeline. The season 3 synopsis made no mention of Vixen, seeming to indicate that she’d be back in 1942 sooner than later. It looks like the showrunners on LoT have decided to include Amaya in several upcoming storylines, however.

EW reports that Richardson-Sellers will be back as a series regular next season. The catastrophic meshing of timelines the Legends have created requires all hands on deck, so the Justice Society of America member will likely feel the need to stick around a little longer to help get reality back to normal.

Along with pivotal returns, executive producer Phil Klemmer promised new characters in season 3, and potential changes to the Waverider team. One of those new characters is Zari Adrianna Tomaz (Tala Ashe), a computer hacktivist that doesn’t yet realize she has secret powers derived from the ancient amulet of the goddess Isis. Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill), who left the team at the end of season 2, will now be the head of a newly formed “Time Bureau” that will clash with the Legends in season 3.
Vixen’s inclusion in the season 3 poster also implies she’ll still have a strong role on the team, but it’s possible she may return to her own time partway through the season. Like Rip, that shift doesn’t necessarily mean she’ll be off the show. Legends of Tomorrow could also focus some storylines on Amaya in the 1940s, which would open up more opportunities to feature the Justice Society of America characters. The show did well in season 2 by changing up the mission and some of the characters from season 1, so it should be fun for viewers to see what new twists the series has in store this year.
Returning the week of October 9, Legends of Tomorrow season 3 and The Flash season 4 air Tuesday nights on The CW, with Supergirl season 3 airing on Monday nights and Arrow season 6 on Thursday nights.

[h=1]Legends of Tomorrow: Gorilla Grodd Confirmed For Season 3[/h]

Gorilla Grodd will be returning to the Arrowverse this fall, but the telepathic super-ape will switch from fighting the Scarlet Speedster to face off against the Legends of Tomorrow. After Casper Crump disappointed fans with his take on Vandal Savage in season one of Legends, the show course-corrected by pulling in the idea of the Legion of Doom from another superhero team-up show. In doing so, the format of Legends was not only mimicked in the villain department, but the massive team of heroes had a set of foes that was more of a match for them.
With the upcoming third season of Legends, it looks like the format for rogues will continue. Merlyn and Thawne will be out, but Darhk will be back to help bring out the best in the heroes. Not that they won’t already have their hands full. As the trailer for the new season reminded fans, time is broken thanks to the Legends. As such, they’ll be spending much of the season trying to set it straight. It won’t just be Darhk giving them trouble along the way, either, as another Arrowverse villain will be joining the show.

During the TCA’s today, we heard from the minds behind Legends of Tomorrow that Gorilla Grodd will be making the jump from The Flash to the team-up series in the fall. There’s no word how many episodes Grodd will appear in, but given the considerable budget required for him it likely won’t be many.

Even if Grodd only appears a handful of times, he’ll certainly add to the threat the Legends will be facing. And even if no other villains join Darhk and Grodd—and they most likely will—the team will have a lot to contend with this season.
Thanks to time being broken, clean-up won’t be all the Legends will have to attend to as they travel across time. Rip Hunter will be turning frenemy to go after the team, bringing his new Time Bureau agents along with him. While the villains will provide pure, campy evil, the Time Bureau will give the Legends a more nuanced threat to deal with as they seek to clean up their mess.
With the premiere of Legends‘ new season just two months away, we’ll likely continue to learn more about the show’s new heroes and villains in the coming weeks. When we do, we’ll make sure to let you know—so stay tuned!

[h=1]Legends of Tomorrow’s New Muslim Superhero ‘Speaks Truth to Power’[/h]

Legends Of Tomorrow star Tala Ashe has offered some new details about her character, Muslim superhero Zari Adrianna Tomaz. The show’s central team – The Waverider crew – seems to get more progressive and inclusive with each new season. The CW’s DC time travel show has a tendency to pick up new recurring cast members on the regular. For example, in season 2, Maisie Richardson-Sellers’ Amaya joined the series, adding more diversity and a different perspective on proceedings.
Season 3 will continue this trend. An announcement was made a few months back, confirming that Odyssey star Ashe will play Zari across Legends Of Tomorrow season 3. The character – who gains strength, wisdom, telekinesis and the power of flight from a magic Egyptian amulet – is better known in the comics as Isis, although they may not keep that moniker for obvious reasons.
Today, some fresh info about the role has come to the fore. Speaking at Legends‘ Television Critics Association summer press tour panel, Ashe had plenty to say about her new role and its importance:
“I think representation is a really powerful thing. I know that when I was growing up when I watched television I didn’t see anyone who looks like me. So when I think about the child me in Ohio right now, it broadens your perspective. What I think is so lovely about the show is that the Legends are this tapestry that reflects the America of today. Zari is further diversifying that.”

“So the Legends meet Zari in 2042, and 2042 is a pretty bleak dystopian police state essentially,” Ashe added, explaining how her character will arrive in the show. She then went on to describe Zari’s style of heroics, hinting at some ideological differences between her and the other heroes:
“Zari is speaking truth to power in the ways that she can. One of those ways is that she’s a hacktivist. So she encounters the Legends and there’s sort of a philosophical challenge there because she sees that they are going to fix these anachronisms and history, but she’s living in a time that’s so bleak and so terrible that she kind of asks or challenges them and says, ‘Is there a way for us to be Legends and be close to humanitarians about it? To improve history not just fix history.’”

“So I think there’s going to be some tension there,” Ashe mentioned in closing. Certainly, it’ll be interesting to see this difference in opinion – how best to save the world – playing out on screen. As we’ve seen in the real life political sphere recently, deciding the best course of action for one nation isn’t always an easy process. Trying to repair all of history, all over the world, is bound to throw up some tense debates.
Ashe’s Zari isn’t the only strong female character joining the show this season, either. Just yesterday it was confirmed that Jess Macallan of Mistresses will play Special Agent Ava Sharpe, a member of the new Time Bureau organization headed up by Arthur Darvill’s Rip Hunter.
One thing’s for sure: Caity Lotz’s Sara Lance is bound to be excited by this injection of smart, savvy females onto the roster.

[h=1]Jessica Jones Actress Cast as Ray Palmer’s Mom in Legends of Tomorrow[/h]

Jessica Jones actress Susie Abromeit has been cast as the mother of Ray Palmer in season 3 of Legends of Tomorrow. Ray Palmer/The Atom (Brandon Routh) has been a regular on the series since the show’s first season. The character has been a part of the Arrowverse since he was introduced in the season 3 premiere of Arrow, as a billionaire inventor who takes over Oliver’s company, Queen Consolidated, and renames it Palmer Technologies.
After the death of his fiancée, Ray became the shrinking superhero the Atom, and was eventually recruited by Rip Hunter to join the Legends. As a constant member of the team, Ray continues to assist his fellow time-travelers both as a superhero and as a scientist.
[h=3]Related: Legends of Tomorrow: Zari Will Challenge the Legends in Season 3[/h]TVLine reports that an upcoming episode of Legends of Tomorrow will introduce viewers to Ray’s mother, played by Susie Abromeit, an actress most notable for her role as Pam, Hogarth’s girlfriend on the Netflix series, Marvel’s Jessica Jones.

Throwing it back in present day 80's style. On set of Legends of Tomorrow. #legendsoftomorrow #strangerthings #80s #ilovethe80s #setlife #tv #film #filming #filming #bighairdontcare #bighair #bighairday #bighairday

The character will appear in episode 4, ‘Phone Home’, which will take the crew of the Waverider to the 1980s to investigate Ray’s childhood. Abromeit teased her role in Legends of Tomorrow with a photo of herself in 1980s-style make-up on Instagram. Aside from her work in Jessica Jones, Abromeit has appeared in various TV shows, including Devious Maids, Chicago Med, and Supernatural.
It was previously revealed at the Television Critics Association that episode 4 would explore Ray’s backstory. Brandon Routh teased the character’s past by stating that Ray had experienced “dark times.” Though the character contributes a lot to the show’s light-hearted tone, it’s been made clear that Ray has a troubled past, and meeting his mother could provide some explanation for that. When we met Ray in Arrow, he was reeling from the death of his fiancée, who had been killed in Deathstroke’s attack on Starling City.
Not much is known about Ray’s early life, though it has been revealed that he had a lonely childhood and a strained relationship with his brother Sydney, who was referenced in an earlier episode. There’s also a good chance that we’ll meet Sydney in ‘Phone Home’, especially since the character looks exactly like Ray and will likely be played by Routh.
Ray will apparently be the latest character whose backstory Legends of Tomorrow will explore. Previous episodes have already delved into the past of Stein, Rip, and Jax. Season 3 will also dive into Amaya’s family history with the introduction of her villanous granddaughter, Kuasa.

Legends of Tomorrow season 3 premieres Tuesday, October 10, on The CW.

[h=1]Captain Cold Will Be Very Different in Legends of Tomorrow Season 3[/h]

Captain Cold’s return to Legends of Tomorrow will be a decidedly different take on the fan-favorite character, who despite his death at the end of the superhero team up series’ first season, has been a surprisingly frequent presence in both Legends and The Flash.
Captain Cold (real name Leonard Snart) originated as one of the first villains to take on Barry Allen and his allies on The Flash, and Wentworth Miller’s scene chewing, over-the-top performance made him an instant fan favorite. After menacing the scarlet speedster for a couple seasons, Snart and his criminal partner, Mick Rory (also known as Heat Wave) joined the band of misfit heroes and villains who made up the cast of the time travel extravaganza that is Legends of Tomorrow. Snart heroically sacrificed himself to save his friends at the end of the first season, but he appeared last season as a time displaced member of the Legion of Doom, and the show’s not done with him yet.

It’s unclear how Snart will return once again, but it will be a new take on icy rogue. In an interview with DC Legends TV, executive producer Phil Klemmer offered some cryptic hints about what’s to come for Captain Cold and his former Legends allies.

“It will be about as polar opposite as the Snart that he’s played on our show. We’ve got a cool pitch to justify that version of him, which I don’t want to give away. But it’s going to be really traumatic for Mick Rory, because he has deified this version of his dead partner in his head, and in a way, Snart’s return is his greatest wish come true, but the fact that he doesn’t get the version that he’s held in the back of his mind is deeply unsettling. Rory’s made a lot of progress as well in the meantime, but he’s certainly not ready to call himself a hero.”

It’s unclear how this version of the character will differentiate from the season 2 version of Snart, who was pulled from earlier in his own timeline and was still in full on villain mode, helping Eobard Thawne, Malcolm Merlyn, and Damien Dahrk execute their reality altering plans using the Spear of Destiny. That version was returned to his rightful time and had his memory erased, so it’s unlikely we’re getting a retread of that particular version. Regardless, Miller’s Captain Cold is one of the brightest spots in The CW’s Arrowverse, and whatever version shows up, he’s always a welcome wild card among the Waverider crew.

[h=1]Constantine Will Appear on Legends of Tomorrow Season 3[/h]

John Constantine will be making his live-action return in an episode of Legends of Tomorrow this season. The DC Comics character initially headlined his own solo series, Constantine, on NBC in 2014, though due to lackluster ratings, averaging 3.34 million viewers per episode and only 0.9 in the coveted 18-49 demographic, the network ended up canceling the occult comic book show after one season, despite objections from devout fans.
Even though the numerous fan petitions and social media campaigns weren’t successful in getting the TV series back on the air, Constantine did manage to come back another way. Matt Ryan, who played the eponymous antihero, had appeared in an episode of Arrow, thus confirming John Constantine’s existence within the colloquially-named Arrowverse. His short-lived guest role in the show’s fourth season was warmly welcomed by both Arrow and Constantine fans, and so, earlier this year, The CW officially revived Constantine and is currently in the midst of adapting the property into an animated web-series, which is scheduled to premiere on CW Seed in 2018 – but that’s not the only place John Constantine will be appearing in the near future.

ComicBook reports that John Constantine will be appearing in an episode of The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow this season, though specifics on the guest appearance weren’t revealed. The news was further confirmed by series showrunner Phil Klemmer, who revealed in an interview with Rotten Tomatoes at New York Comic-Con 2017 that audiences will see “John Constantine doing an exorcism” at some point in season 3.

The character’s appearance on Legends of Tomorrow will mark the second time that he has appeared in live-action in the Arrowverse, as well as the second show within the network’s shared universe. It’s unclear when (and in which time period) Constantine will appear, and it’s unknown if the episode will tie into the character’s new animated web series. However, the network surely wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to promote the appearance, so fans should expect to see promos for the Constantine episode sometime this season.
We’ll just have to wait and see if John Constantine’s exorcism has any ramifications on the Legends or the character’s upcoming solo TV series, or if this will be just another stop along the time-stream for the Waverider and her crew. Regardless, Constantine fans will undoubtedly welcome the new guest appearance and possibly even hope for more to come in the future, now that the character is officially joining the Arrowverse in a more permanent capacity.

[h=1]Legends of Tomorrow: Constantine’s Appearance Ties Into Arrow Season 4[/h]

Constantine’s appearance on Legends of Tomorrow is still a little while off, but it sounds like it will be worth the wait. Legends was built to feature a rotating roster of heroes and villains and the opportunity for tons of cameos. So far, those appearances have ranged from historical figures, to new characters pulled from the comics, to cameos from other Arrowverse heroes. The upcoming third season may just see the show topping itself.
As teased in the extended season trailer that dropped today, Legends of Tomorrow is pulling out all the stops this year. The look at the show from earlier teased Gorilla Grodd in Vietnam, a visit from Kid Flash, and the introduction of futuristic vampires. On top of that, a version of Damien Darhk will be back and working with a new Legion of Doom — which will naturally include Grodd. This Darhk will be a resurrected version of the character from after his death on Arrow, proving just how flexible death is in the Arrowverse. Darhk won’t be the only mystical Arrow character this season, however.
[h=3]

THR
spoke with Legends of Tomorrow showrunner Phil Klemmer and asked him about the recent news that Constantine will be appearing on the show this season. According to Klemmer, the character will not only be true to the comics, but his connections to the Arrowverse will continue to expand.[/h]

As for the character of Constantine, we knew that an alienated, chain-smoking, bisexual, world-weary demonologist would feel right at home among our Legends. His appearance in episode 310 will involve the following: a revisiting of Arrow season four and the events following that season’s finale episode; a confrontation with this season’s Big Bad on Legends — the name we’ve only heard whispered until now Mallus; some hot sex — something that has been in short supply on the Waverider thus far in season three; and Damien Darhk (Neil McDonough), because how can you do an episode about dark magic and not have Damien Darhk? More than anything, the episode promises to be scary as you know what — tonally it’s The Exorcist meets One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. Demonic possession in a mental institution, what’s not to love?”

There’s a lot to unpack in Klemmer’s statement, but it all spells good things for Legends and Constantine. First off, it looks like the Hellblazer will be just as he is in the comics and his previous appearances. We also get confirmation that the events from Constantine’s appearance on Arrow will factor into the new season. Of course, that appearance was heavily connected to both Damien Darhk and the Lazarus Pit, so it makes sense that the former Arrow villain and ally will both share screen time.
The statement also confirms when Constantine will show up on Legends, and it looks like it won’t be until next year. The Arrowverse crossover at the end of November will be episode 8, so it’s unlikely episode 10 will come until after the winter break. In all likelihood, the Constantine episode will kick of the second part of the season 3 in January.
Finally, we get hints that a new Big Bad, dubbed Mallus, will be tied to Constantine. While there’s no character by that name in the comics, it could simply be an alias. Then again, maybe an original character will be pulling the strings of Darhk and the Legion. While Darhk shared leadership with the rest of the Legion last season, it will be interesting to see him answer to a higher up. And with the tease of The Exorcist meets One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, it sounds like Constantine will bring the best out of Legends.
