[h=1]DC's Titans Reportedly Casts Elliot Knight As Original Dove Don Hall[/h]

Elliot Knight was reportedly cast as Don Hall, the original Dove in DC’s Titans. The series will appear on DC Universe, the upcoming video on demand streaming service from Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment, later this year. Titans stars Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Anna Diop as Starfire, Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, and Teagan Croft as Raven. The spinoff series Doom Patrol was announced in May 2018. It will pick up after the events of Titans.
Titans is a live-action adaptation of the Teen Titans comics that follows a group of young heros. Raven, a girl haunted by her powers, contacts Detective Dick Grayson for help. Grayson was a former circus performer who watched his parents get murdered. While not fulfilling his duty as an officer of the law, he moonlights as Batman’s sidekick Robin. Raven and Robin are joined by Beast Boy and Starfire to form a new team. Together they have to deal with the threat of the villain Trigon.

According to
SuperBroMovies, Donald “Don” Hall will appear in the first season of Titans and he will be played by Elliot Knight. Don Hall will be revealed in flashbacks as the original Dove, one half of the team Hawk & Dove. His brother, Hank Hill (Alan Ritchson), is the other half of the team. Judging by the addition of Friday Night Lights actress Minka Kelly as the current Dove Dawn Granger to the cast, Don will probably meet his end before the series begins. In the comic books, the original Hawk & Dove died during the Crisis on Infinite Earths event leading Granger to becoming the next incarnation.

British born Knight has had a number of TV roles. He was most recently on The CW’s Life Sentence. He has also appeared in Once Upon A Time, American Gothic and How To Get Away With Murder. He’s no stranger to genre TV. While his stint as Don Hall will provide much needed background into the characters of Hawk and Dove, it’s not clear if his role will extend to future seasons of Titans.
DC’s Titans promises to be a darker adaptation of the popular comic book series. The firstimage of Robin revealed a more battle-hardened, bloody version of the character while the trailer confirmed they are going in a different direction than most fans are used to with him. The addition of Knight to the cast as the original Dove gives the character history that will have an effect on the current iteration of the hero. He may also give this team of otherwise young heroes more depth, tying them into a greater legacy. How Don Hall and his brother will feed into the greater plot other than to provide the basis of Granger getting her powers and becoming a hero is still a mystery, but Hall will obviously play an important role.

[h=1]Titans TV Show Gets October Premiere Date on DC Universe[/h]

DC finally confirms when and how Titans will be released. The Teen Titans are among the most beloved youthful comic book teams, but they're not going to be the traditional starry eyed kids in their live-action series. No, DC is taking an adult approach with Titans, as evident by the first trailer dropping the now iconic "F*** Batman" line from the show's lead, Robin (Brenton Thwaites). All of the team members around him have received a similarly more mature take.
Although the marketing may have started off on a controversial note, there's still plenty of interest in checking out Titans - even if it's just to see what is actually going on. The show has long been connected to DC Universe, the company's digital service, but when it would debut exactly wasn't clear. Now that we know when DC Universe launches, Titans' premiere date is out too.

During DC's live-stream to help introduce DC Daily, host Kevin Smith announced that Titanswill premiere on Friday, October 12 on DC Universe. Those who go to New York Comic-Con will get to see the actual debut, as the first episode will be shown on October 3. After the October 12 debut, new episodes of Titans will be released on a weekly basis, until the full 12-episode first season is complete.

The October 12 launch for Titans will mark the show's debut roughly a month after the platform itself launches. With well over two months overall left before the debut, there's plenty of time for more info on the show to arrive. DC also unveiled new photos as part of this live stream, so a new trailer could be on the way too. There's been plenty of looks at Raven, Starfire, Beast Boy, and Robin, but expect a heavy marketing push from DC as they try to ensure their first series is a hit.

It is interesting that they are going with a weekly rollout plan instead of the binge style drop. This will guarantee that fans of whatever show they're watching must stick around for months at a time to see the entire series. However, there's also the argument that not having all of the episodes available at once could allow for some who don't take to the series early on to not see it through. Hopefully, though, Titans will be more than worth the two-month wait for the premiere and then a weekly wait for new episodes.

[h=1]DC's Titans TV Show Will Stream on Netflix Outside of the U.S.[/h]

DC Universe original TV show Titans will stream on Netflix outside of the U.S. since Netflix officially acquired the international rights for the series, which means thatTitans fans all over the world will have access to the new show.
Titans is an upcoming television series based on the DC Comics superhero team of the same name. The team consists of Robin, Starfire, Raven and Beast Boy, among others. The group acts as a sort of younger version of the Justice League, but still faces threats that affect the entire planet and universe. The series is exclusive to the new DC Universe streaming subscription service and will premiere on October 12.

Fortunately, fans outside of the U.S. who cannot subscribe to DC Universe will have the opportunity to watch Titans on Netflix. Variety reports Netflix picked up the international rights for the series, allowing the service to carry the show outside of the U.S. This is not the first time that Netflix has picked up such rights for a show from a competitor: it also owns the rights to air CBS All Access' Star Trek: Discovery outside of the U.S. and Canada.

DC Universe recently launched a service that includes access to a lineup of classic DC Comics-related TV shows, as well as access to many issues of comics in its vast library. The service will host original content, too, including Titans and Doom Patrol, although it plans on eventually having original content available on the site every week. The service is currently limited to the U.S., although it seems DC Entertainment has plans to expand it to Canada soon.

Launching a new streaming subscription service is a risky move, especially given the competition. With services such as Netflix and Amazon continuing to expand original content, along with all the other streaming services already available or launching soon, many TV viewers might not want to add on an additional fee every month to sign up for DC Universe. DC offers much more than just classic series and original content, though: the addition of comics access could serve as a tipping point to convince people to sign up.
Whatever the case, DC fans outside of the U.S. will have at least some access to DC Universe's content. And how well Titans does on Netflix with a global audience could set the stage for DC Universe's plans for international expansion when the company decides the service is ready for that.

[h=1]TITANS: Robin is More Violent Than DCEU Batman[/h]
Warning: Minor SPOILERS for Titans Episode 1
If Zack Snyder's version of Batman was too violent for many fans, then strap in forTitans - because its Robin is WAY more violent, brutal, and bloodthirsty than Ben Affleck's caped crusader. Now that Titans has been shown to select audiences at New York Comic Con, a new bar has been set for DC violence.
The criticism was widely circulated when Batman v Superman hit theaters to brutal reviews, and fans and critics zeroed in on Batman's embrace of violence - even fatalities - as a fundamental betrayal of the character. Batman, they claimed, is famous for his no-kill policy. And no argument could ever make a killer Batman tolerable, much less accepted. Even with every modern superhero murdering bad guys, the line was drawn at Batman. So how will Titans viewers respond to the new Dick Grayson?
RELATED: Batman's Cameo Role in The Titans Premiere Explained
Because not only does the TV show's Robin accept violence and casualties... he crosses the line into outright torturing the criminals he faces to show them the cost of breaking the law.

[h=2]DCEU BATMAN IS BRUTAL, BUT SO IS HIS WORLD[/h]

It's hard to describe the ways in which Ben Affleck's Batman crossed a line in fans' minds from vigilante to vulgar insult, since Batman having grown too violent is the point of his story in BvS. But in the interest of keeping focus on how the audience views and critiques violent heroes, we'll say only this: the issue for many critics of Ben Affleck's Batman may be less that he is uniquely evil or violent in his specific character, and more that the world he inhabits was too dark, too grim, too harsh all around. As some outspoken critics have argued, it wasn't Ben Affleck or his character that deserves blame, but Zack Snyder's overall vision of a DC Universe, from top to bottom.

By comparison, Batman's acceptance of harm, injury, and possibly death seem like symptoms, not the attack itself. The DCEU under Snyder is a world where Superman's first foe promised to murder every human on Earth, and meant it. Where Bruce Wayne saw heroes fall, saw Joker murder his adopted son, and thousands die in the background of Superman's first battle. Compared to Superman's decision to kill, Batman's decision to break bones, deliver concussions, and even knock a grenade out of a gunman's hand - all in pursuit of saving innocent lives - seems understandable, at the very least.
Ben Affleck's Batman lives or lived in a world of dark forces, dark acts, and dark people... and he grew darker to terrorize it from even darker shadows. Now his sidekick Robin has arrived to answer the question: was it an intolerable, incomprehensible use of violence that turned DC fans against the DCEU's Batman, or the wave of anti-Snyder sentiment that Titans won't have to contend with?

[h=2]ROBIN IS MORE VIOLENT, AND IT ISN'T CLOSE[/h]

At some point, distinguishing between these two approaches to brutal superheroes may seem like splitting hairs - or splitting an eyeball with a thrown "Robin" insignia, which Dick uses to open his first fight. Is getting punched out better than having the slide of a handgun jammed directly through the meat of your throat? Is hurling a henchman through the air and into other criminals better than grabbing the knife-wielding hand of an attacker, and slamming it home into their friend, instead? Is burning an abuser of young girls with a heated iron to gather information any betterthan grinding an enemy's face on a brick wall, or through broken glass... because it hurts them?
We don't know if it's 'better,' but it is absolutely more violent, more lethal, and all around more ignorant of any value of life when it comes to criminals. Even if DC claims Robin is being violent, but not deadly, it's still the same debate as seen withBatman v Superman, but with Ben Affleck's version able to claim he didn't kill unless forced to, Robin may have trouble claiming slices and stabs to the throat and torso were more harmless than they look.
As we said before, it isn't the facts that we're curious to see weighed, measured, and received by fans and critics. It's the depiction of violence itself, and whether Robin's embrace of pain and excessive, bloody force will be as offensive, or overlooked, since... well, he's only Robin. It's Batman who must live by a higher standard.

Titans
debuts on October 12th, exclusively on DC Universe.

[h=1]DC Universe's Titans Season 2 Casts Its Superboy[/h]

DC Universe's Titans season 2 casts Joshua Orpin as Conner Kent aka. Superboy. Warner Bros' DC Universe streaming service launched on Batman Day 2018, offering a library of DC comics as well as animated movies and TV series. However, it's DC Universe's originals that have perhaps drawn the most attention, including the service's very first original TV show: Titans. Titans was renewed for season 2 even before it debuted on DC Universe, but the show's popularity proved it was a good move on Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment's part.
Titans season 1 followed the adventures of Dick Grayson aka. Robin, Kory Anders aka. Starfire, Rachel Roth aka. Raven and Gar Logan aka. Beast Boy as they joined together to become the comic book team known as the Teen Titans. A more mature take on the typical Teen Titans group, Titans also introduced viewers to elder superheroes Hawk and Dove, while Justice League member Batman was a tangible figure in Dick's pursuit to escape his sidekick role of Robin. The Titans season 1 finale ended on a cliffhanger that saw the team broken apart by Trigon. But the Titans post-credits scene paved the way for a new ally in the form of Superboy and his trusty dog Krypto.

Now, DC is reporting Titans has found their Superboy, with Aussie actor Joshua Orpin landing the role of Conner Kent. He'll make his official Titansdebut in season 2, after Conner Kent was played by a stunt double for the season 1 finale post-credits scene. DC also unveiled an official description for the Conner Kent character that sees him crossing paths with the Titans in season 2:
Superboy, aka Conner Kent, is the angsty teenager of steel searching for purpose and the truth about his past. While looking for answers, he crashes into the world of the Titans where he finds an unlikely home and surrogate family as well as revelations that carry more complications than he ever bargained for.

Fans of Conner Kent/Superboy are no doubt excited to see him join the DC Universe series in season 2, but it's unclear how or when the team and the "teenager of steel" will cross paths. After all, the Titans themselves are currently split, with Raven helping her father, Trigon; Beast Boy and Dick Grayson are also on Trigon's side at the moment with the former staying loyal to Rachel and the latter being under the control of Trigon. Starfire and Donna Troy aka. Wonder Girl are left on the outside, with Hawk and Dove elsewhere but remaining potential allies.
Of course, the Titans season 1 finale was reshot and the season overall originally included another episode, but the series' showrunner revealed the original season 1 finale became the season 2 premiere. What exactly that means for when Superboy will be introduced remains to be seen. He may not arrive until the second episode of Titans season 2. With filming on Titansseason 2 gearing up to start soon (if it hasn't started already), we may learn more about how Superboy factors into the upcoming episodes. Further, fans may soon get their first look at Orpin as Conner Kent through set photos or an officially released first look image. Until then, fans will have to wait and see what Orpin brings toTitans season 2 as Superboy.

Titans season 1 is currently available to stream on DC Universe and internationally on Netflix; season 2 will premiere on DC Universe in the future.

[h=1]Titans Season 2: Jason Todd Actor Promoted To Series Regular[/h]

Jason Todd will play a bigger role in season 2 of Titans, with actor Curran Walters promoted to series regular. Walters served as a guest star over the course of the first season, playing the second incarnation of Robin. Sent by their fellow mentor, Batman, Jason Todd arrived on the scene with a warning for Dick Grayson. Despite offering an assist to the team in taking down Nick Zucco, Jason and Dick found themselves at odds regarding the former's more brutal approach to vigilantism. Regardless, the character proved a hit with fans and one of the show's breakout stars.
Season 1 followed the adventures of Dick Grayson, Kory Anders aka. Starfire, Rachel Roth aka. Raven and Gar Logan aka. Beast Boy as they joined together to form the popular comic book team. Jason was last seen in theseason finale, as part of a hallucinatory fantasy created by Trigon. Now confined to a wheelchair (potentially teasing his less than fortunate fate), Jason recruited Dick to help stop a consumed and murderous version of Batman. Though Dick was ultimately successful, killing Batman in the process, it turned out to be a ruse that left the future Nightwing possessed by Trigon's evil. Now consumed by darkness, it'll fall on the rest of the team to try and rescue their friend and deal with a new threat set to arrive in the form of Esai Morales' Deathstroke.

It was previously rumored (via GWW) that Walters would return for more episodes. The folks at ComicBook, however, have since confirmed the news. They also revealed that the young actor is already hard at work, preparing for the show's sophomore outing. Although filming is already underway on the second season, it remains to be seen how and when Jason will return. It's expected, as per the original report, however, that he'll appear in at least half the episodes.

Walters won't be the only new regular addition to the show. As teased in a post-credit scene for the season finale, and a brief nod in Doom Patrol,Superboy is on his way. Played by Joshua Orpin, he (and his trusty dog Krypto) will no doubt be a valuable ally. They'll also be joined by the children of Deathstroke - Rose Wilson, a.k.a Ravager and Joseph Wilson, a.k.a Jericho. The duo will be played by Chelsea T. Zhang and Chella Man, respectively.

As exciting as these new additions are, however, fans will no doubt be overjoyed to see Jason Todd continue to play a part in the proceedings. Whether or not season 2 will feature Jason taking some prominent steps towards his red-hooded destiny, remains to be seen. Plot details will, of course, be kept firmly under wraps until the season is released. Either way, the new dynamics and potential conflicts that could arise are positively endless. It'll be interesting, most of all, to see just how well (if at all) the brash Jason will gel with the rest of the team. Especially as his method for dealing with Dick's possession will no doubt veer less towards saving Dick and more towards something a little more final.

Titans season 2 will premiere on DC Universe in the Fall.

[h=1]Titans Season 2 Reportedly Casts Drew Van Acker As Aqualad[/h]

DC Universe's
Titans season 2 reportedly casts Drew Van Acker as Garth aka. Aqualad, though the DC Comics character has more recently used the superhero name of Tempest. When Titans season 1 premiered, the show introduced a live-action and more gritty version of the Teen Titans superhero team from the comics and animated series. Over the course of season 1, four core members of the group came together: Dick Grayson aka. Robin (Brenton Thwaites), Kory Anders aka. Starfire (Anna Diop), Rachel Roth aka. Raven (Teagan Croft) and Gar Logan aka. Beast Boy (Ryan Potter). Titans season 1 also introduced other heroes from the DC Comics, including Hawk (Alan Ritchson), Dove (Minka Kelly), Wonder Girl (Conor Leslie) and Jason Todd aka. Robin (Curran Walters).

However, Titans season 2 is gearing up to add even more characters from the DC Comics, both heroes and villains alike. The
Titans season 1 finale post-credits scene introduced Superboy (Joshua Orpin) and Krypto the Superdog. Since then, season 2 has cast Iain Glen as Bruce Wayne aka. Batman, Esai Morales as Deathstroke, Chella Man as Jericho, Chelsea Zhang as Ravager and Natalie Gumede as Mercy Graves. Between all the returning heroes and villains and those set to be introduced in season 2, Titans is going to be stacked with comic book characters. Now, another such character has been cast in Titans season 2.

TV Insider reports that Pretty Little Liars alum Drew Van Acker has been cast as the Garth version of Aqualad. The report arrives about a month after Acker hinted he'd joined Titans on Instagram. Prior to this report, rumors circulated that he'd be playing Garth, though it's unclear whether the character will still be operating under the Aqualad moniker or Tempest, which he's most recently gone by in the comics. See Acker's Instagram post below.

If Titans' Garth follows the footsteps of both Dick Grayson and Donna Troy, it's likely Acker's character will have retired from being a superhero sidekick - in his case, to Aquaman. Titans season 1 depicted young Dick and Donna as friends who grew close due to their roles as sidekicks to various members of the Justice League. Since the show's Batman and Wonder Woman had sidekicks, it follows that Aquaman may have as well, and Garth ran across the young Robin and Wonder Girl as Aqualad. However, as Dick and Donna both shed their sidekick personas as they grew up, perhaps Garth did as well, taking on the Tempest moniker, which would explain conflicting rumors of which superhero Acker is playing in Titans season 2.

For now, it remains to be seen how Acker's Garth will fit into
Titans season 2. The series must resolve the season 1 finale cliffhanger in the early part of season 2, and then presumably introduce Deathstroke as the major villain, with his kids acting as potential allies and antagonists. But, of course, both Superboy and Batman will join the mix as well in some form. With so many new characters and so many story beats from season 1 still to be resolved, it's unclear how Titans will tie it all together. Fans will just have to wait and see once Titans season 2 premieres later this year.

Titans season 2 premieres later in 2019 on DC Universe.
