After years stuck in development hell, DC’s Titans will finally start rolling cameras later this year. While Marvel is slowly pumping out more and more TV series, DC has been going strong for years with a number of live-action shows. The Arrowverse is currently four TV shows strong, with a number of other DC heroes scattered across different networks. Back in 2014, word broke that the popular Teen Titans were heading to TV in live-action, with Robin and his friends finally joining the television milieu. Then early last year, for better or worse, we learned that Titans isn’t happening at TNT, as was originally the plan.
For Titans comic book fans, the news was surely disappointing – making the surprise announcement of the series’ resurrection all the more exciting. Along with the new season of Young Justice, Titans will mark a new streaming effort from DC and Warner Bros. in an attempt to rival Marvel’s partnership with Netflix. DC Entertainment head honcho Geoff Johns is even writing for Titans, with the project now reportedly set to begin filming in the fall.

My Entertainment World has a new posting for Titans stating that the show will begin production on September 25 of this year in Atlanta, GA. The news lines up with the reports that Johns has begun writing, meaning a number of scripts will likely be in the can by the time cameras start rolling on the show’s first episode. The series will also be the latest major production to hit Georgia, with many Marvel Studios films and shows like The Walking Dead also calling Atlanta “home.”

Given the fall start date, we can likely expect to see the Titans series launch at the beginning of 2018. While the September start means a Titans trailer won’t be ready for San Diego Comic-Con next month, we may yet see a Titans teaser, concept art, casting news and/or an official synopsis revealed during the event.
Despite all the good news this connotes, fans may still be concerned. After all, Titans was once supposed to start shooting back in 2015. The subsequent year was filled with various updates on the show’s progress, before the news came in that it wasn’t moving forward after all. While all of these announcements of late may seem to guarantee the show will happen, it’s understandable if fans are concerned that Titans might join the ranks of abandoned comic book TV shows, yet again.
The upshot is that DC is going strong on TV these days, and producers Johns and Greg Berlanti have a number of successful projects under their belt. Hopefully, the second time is the charm with Titans, as fans are eager to see Robin, Raven, Beast Boy, and the other young heroes brought to life.

[h=1]DC’s Titans TV Series Will Be Filming in Toronto[/h]

DC’s Teen Titans are headed to the Great White North, as a new report indicates Titans will be filming in Toronto. For years now, fans of the Teen Titans have been teased about the young DC heroes getting their own live-action series. Though several animated shows and movies have showcased their exploits and adventures, the promise of a show akin to Arrow has been an enticing one. And while news that the original plans were scrapped seemed to dash those hopes, they were revived in April when it was announced the series was moving forward on DC’s new digital service.

Along with the revival of Young Justice, Titans will help DC test out new waters for their content. The CW already has a Vixen animated series on their Seed platform, and it’s possible that the show’s reception encouraged DC to pursue a streaming service unique to their content. Almost as soon as the news broke of Titans coming to life, word emerged that Geoff Johns was already hard at work on the script. News then broke that the show would be shooting this September, making a premiere in early 2018 possible. Now, we know where the action will be taking place—at least behind the camera.
My Entertainment World has updated their production listing for Titans indicating the show will be filming in Toronto as opposed to Atlanta where it was originally meant to shoot.

Atlanta has become a hotspot for film and TV production, including the CW’s upcoming Black Lightning. Canadian cities like Vancouver and Montreal, meanwhile, have long served the same purpose. Likely, the move comes down to tax incentives, but it could point towards the look of the series if they want to take advantage of the Canadian wilderness. The show will probably mostly take place in the city, however, and it could be that Atlanta is simply too crowded at this point.
The other potential good news is that the production for Titans will be that much closer to the Arrowverse, at least physically. Shows like The Flash and Arrow shoot in Vancouver, making a potential crossover at least a little bit more viable than if Titans shot in Atlanta. Only time will tell if the shows will join forces, or if Titans will stay separate like Gotham.
With Titans on the verge of shooting, we should learn a lot more about the show soon. Earlier this week, we received our first casting breakdown for the show, pointing towards the inclusion of Robin, Beast Boy, Raven, and Starfire. Given that none of these characters have yet appeared in the Arrowverse, it would be great to see them join up with established characters like Speedy and Kid Flash to complete the comic connections. Hopefully, we’ll know more soon.
Titans will likely premiere in 2018 on DC’s digital service.

[h=1]Drake Bell Teases Possible Tim Drake Robin Role[/h]

With a cryptic tweet shared to Twitter, actor Drake Bell might be teasing his involvement with DC and the possible inclusion of Robin, the Boy Wonder. After voicing Peter Parker in the animated Ultimate Spider-Man series, is Bell the latest actor to jump from Marvel to DC?
Batman’s stalwart sidekick has been absent from DC’s recent slate of films, and with no sign of him in the upcoming Justice League, we are still anticipating his (or her) arrival to the DCEU – following the death of an earlier Robin, alluded to during Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. There is still a shroud of mystery surrounding Matt Reeves’ The Batman, and it certainly looks like Ben Affleck’s grizzled Bruce Wayne could do with a pick-me-up from his colorful second in command.
Bell posted to Twitter with caption “the Boy Wonder?” and also shared Robin’s signature logo, before taking it down thereafter. Luckily, fans managed to make a screen grab before it disappeared back into the internet. Comic Book has since commissioned famed fan-artist BossLogic to make fan-art of Bell as the Tim Drake Robin (which you can check out below).

Given the speed with which the tweet was removed, fans have begun speculating that this wasn’t just a case of Bell expressing a desire to play the Tim Drake character. Interestingly, Bell shared the Robin logo that is most commonly associated with the Drake era of the character. Given the confirmed death of one Robin prior to the events of Dawn of Justice, the timelines could perfectly marry for the inclusion of Tim Drake in a future DCEU movie. Aged 30, Bell could be slightly too old for the role, but we might alternatively be the perfect age to match with Affleck’s older version of the Caped Crusader.

It’s also possible that Bell was teasing a potential role as Robin in the upcoming live-action Titans TV series, as opposed to a role in a DCEU movie like The Batman. Promising the first live-action outing of the younger Teen Titans, fans are excitedly awaiting casting news on the project – which is scheduled to start filming this fall. Dick Grayson is already tipped to be the lead in Titans, but it’s plausible that Belle simply mixed up his Robins with his reference to Tim Drake here.
Introduced in 1989 and named after director Tim Burton, Drake was the third person to take up the mantle of Robin. Since then, he has had a major part to play in the Young Justice comic book and as a central character in animated The New Batman Adventures. Becoming a fan-favorite in the world of Batman, Drake adopted the new identity of Red Robin in 2009, which is a role that he has continued into 2016’s “Rebirth” universe. While Drake has hundreds of stories to tell, he is best-known for his involvement with Teen Titans, which further suggests that Bell could star in the TV series rather than a DCEU blockbuster.
Whether Bell is actually playing Tim Drake, is simply showing an interest (re: pulling a Josh Gad/Penguin on us), he would certainly be a dark horse choice to play the Boy Wonder. With DC expected to make some huge announcements at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con, we probably won’t have too long to wait to find out more.

[h=1]Titans Season 1 Will Reportedly Be 13 Episodes Long[/h]

Following the lead of Netflix and other streaming services, DC’s Titans will have a 13-episode first season. For years now, DC and Warner Bros. TV have been working to bring the Teen Titans into live-action. While the initial plans for the series fell through, the announcement was made earlier this year that Titans will premiere through DC’s new digital service instead, along with the long-awaited third season of Young Justice. Not only will the platform allow the show more creative freedom, but it could help usher in a new way to bring DC Comics characters to life.
Not too long after that, we learned more about the core cast of characters for Titans. While no comic book characters have been officially confirmed yet, their descriptions clearly point to Nightwing, Starfire, Beast Boy, and Raven. As four of the best-known members of the Titans, their inclusion isn’t surprising. However, after years of the characters appearing in various animated series and movies, it will be exciting to see them brought to life in live-action. As for the length of the show’s first season, it looks like it will be taking a cue from other streamed TV series.

Deadline is reporting that Titans has a 13 episode commitment for its first season. Like Marvel’s Netflix shows and the currently-in-development Marvel series like Runaways and Cloak & Dagger (which are debuting on Hulu and Freeform, respectively), the show won’t be burdened by the 22–23 episode run of most network superhero TV shows. While those series offer fans more quantity, the quality can sometimes suffer while trying to spin out the story and budget.

With just 13 episodes, hopefully we will be in for a tight plot and a decent sized budget for all the special effects that will be required for everyone on Titans (except for Nightwing, that is). Between Beast Boy’s shapeshifting, Raven’s magic, and Starfire’s flight and fire-based powers, the series will need a decent amount of money to make everything look good.
When it comes to the show’s tone, it’s not known yet if Titans will skew closer to the Arrowverse or the animated Teen Titans TV shows. The former seems most likely, though don’t count on a crossover between the pair anytime soon. Though Titans won’t be shooting as far away from Vancouver as The CW’s upcoming Black Lightning TV series is, the show is all set to start filming this fall in Toronto. While that doesn’t rule out a crossover with the Vancouver-based Arrowverse, it will certainly make it a bit more difficult.
With San Diego Comic-Con 2017 on the horizon and Titans due to start shooting soon, more information aboutthe DC series should be right around the corner. We may even get confirmation as to which DC characters will be in the series, by the end of this summer.

[h=1]Live-Action Teen Titans Series Casts Teagan Croft As Raven[/h]

Titans has found its first cast member in Teagan Croft as Raven, as the series finally looks like it will become a reality. For years, rumors have abounded that DC and Warner Bros. TV were attempting to craft a live-action Teen Titans series. Already a hit in the comics and a number of animated shows and films, Titans would see characters like Beast Boy and Raven realized in live-action for the first time. Earlier this year, word broke that Titans was finally a go and would be joining the new season of Young Justice on DC’s brand-new digital streaming service.
Crafting the show will be Akiva Goldsman, best know for his work on Transformers and the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery. Joining him as writers and producers will be DC head Geoff Johns and Arrowverse overseer Greg Berlanti. Given the pedigree of those involved, the series should be something fans old and new will enjoy. Just a couple of weeks ago, the show finally began production. And now, casting for the main characters has begun.
[h=3]Related: DC’s Live-Action Titans Begins Production[/h]

Deadline is reporting that newcomer Teagan Croft (The Osiris Child) will be joining Titans as Raven. An unknown Australian actor, we can likely expect the rest of the cast to be young up-and-comers. A gifted magic user, Raven is part demonic and will be struggling in the show to control her empathic powers. The extent of her abilities isn’t known, but we can likely expect a downgrade in terms of her skills.

So far, Croft is the only member of the cast. Thanks to a character breakdown, however, we do know who each of the main heroes will be. Along with Raven, Starfire, Beast Boy, and Dick Grayson will be coming to the show. What role Batman will play in the show is unknown, but we’ll likely see Grayson as Nightwing rather than Robin.
While the other characters will probably be played by newcomers, Grayson will likely be a bigger name as the leader of the group. We’ve had hints that Drake Bell could tackle the role, but it’s anyone’s guess at this point. Regardless, expect an actor that will be able to draw in an audience.
Given how popular Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go! have been, the show could benefit from the appeal of the cartoons. Then again, the name change and a more mature tone could distance a potential audience. The streaming platform may also make things difficult. That said, the creators involved and the characters themselves could help make up for any barriers. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait much longer to find out.
Titans will premiere sometime in 2018 on DC’s digital streaming service.

[h=1]Live-Action Teen Titans Series Casts Anna Diop As Starfire[/h]

With DC getting ready to start production on their Titans live-action series, Anna Diop has been cast as Koriand’r aka Starfire. Diop is best known for appearing in 24: Legacy and The Messengers. When Starfire first debuted in comics, she was usually portrayed as a comedic fish-out-of-water character that steadily evolves into a strong leader who has no problem being ruthless when needed. She’s able to fly and shoot energy blasts from her hands. Some fans will be familiar with her from her appearance in the Teen Titans cartoon series, but she debuted in the comics back in 1980.
Most recently, Starfire has appeared as part of DLC content for Injustice 2 in the first fighter pack. Much of her dialogue referenced Dick Grayson and the Teen Titans. Players can use her flight combined with her energy powers to be a formidable opponent. In the recent animated film, Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, the relationship between Koriand’r and Dick Grayson was explored further than we’ve seen in DC’s animated universe.

Deadline reported that Anna Diop will be appearing as part of the main cast of Titans, and the character description sounds like the story will heavily feature alien enemies hunting her down after she fled her home planet. It’s not explained whether they’ll be the main villains of the action-adventure series, but they’ll certainly be causing trouble for Starfire and the rest of her teammates. Read Deadline’s description of the character below:
Starfire (aka Koriand’r) is an alien princess from a warrior planet who seeks asylum on Earth. A no-nonsense, take-no-prisoners stranger on our world, she has the ability to shoot energy bolts and fly. Searching for her place on Earth, she’ll come into contact with the Titans.

Diop will be joining Teagan Croft, who will be playing Raven. We’re still waiting for casting announcements on Nightwing and Beast Boy. Since Dick Grayson and Starfire have a deep romantic relationship, the two actors will need some believable onscreen chemistry to sell the superhero love story. The show will be airing on DC’s own streaming service, meaning they might be able to use characters that other networks might not be able to due to licensing. So could we see hints towards other DC characters that otherwise wouldn’t get the opportunity to pop up in the main DCEU movies? Especially since Geoff Johns also has a hand in writing the series.
Additionally, since we don’t know what the budget is for their new service, it’s hard to say what we can expect visually from the series. If Titans doesn’t have a huge budget, don’t expect Starfire to be flying and using her powers simultaneously, it’ll be one or the other. We’ll likely be waiting several more months before we start seeing footage, given that they’ve only just started production.

[h=1]What Brenton Thwaites May Look Like As Nightwing[/h]

Brenton Thwaites joined DC’s Titans series as Dick Grayson aka Robin, but new fan art imagines him as the character’s other alterego: Nightwing. While The CW’s own DC Comics television universe has flourished – and expanded to include four series, with another, unconnected show set to debut this season – a live-action take on the Teen Titans was stalled for sometime at TNT. Eventually, it was announced that TNT had passed on the Teen Titans series, but the show landed on DC Comics’ own upcoming streaming service, with the somewhat simplified title of Titans.

With filming on Titans reported to start soon, the cast for the series has been filling out in recent weeks. First, newcomer Teagan Croft joined as Raven, while it was more recently announced that Anna Diop was added as Starfire. Frontrunners for Hawk and Dove were revealed, but the biggest casting announcement came yesterday with the revelation that Pirates of the Caribbean’s Brenton Thwaites will play Dick Grayson – specifically, the Robin iteration of the character. However, as fans of the comics know, Dick eventually grows out of the role of Batman’s sidekick and adopts the Nightwing mantle. Now, new fan art offers a look at how the actor could look as Nightwing.
[h=4]Related: Titans TV Show Begins Production[/h]BossLogic, the graphic artist well known for his renderings of what famous actors could look like as classic comic book character, posted his latest work to Twitter. In addition to congratulating Thwaites on landing the role of Dick Grayson, the artist posted an image of what the actor could look like as the DC hero Nightwing. Take a look below:
Nightwing has finally been cast. Congratulations to @brentonthwaites glad to see all these Aussies taking over :D #TeenTitans pic.twitter.com/uKP94pl1EY
— BossLogic (@Bosslogic) September 1, 2017
While BossLogic’s rendering of Thwaites as Nightwing is sure to get fans hyped for the series, there’s no guarantee that the actor will even suit up as Nightwing on Titans since the original annoucement of his casting specified he’d be playing Robin. Considering Warner Bros’ has a solo Nightwing movie in development, with a director already on board, they may prevent the TV series from tackling the character (the studio did influence Arrow‘s use of Suicide Squad characters prior to the release of David Ayer’s film). So, it may be some time before Titans‘ Dick Grayson evolves from Robin to Nightwing – if that comes to pass at all.
That said, Dick Grayson is a fan-favorite character – both as Robin and as Nightwing – so fans will undoubtedly enjoy seeing him brought to life by Thwaites. Still, while it seems the character will start off as Robin in Titans, fans may get to watch the evolution of Dick Grayson growing up and becoming Nightwing. We’ll have to wait and see once more information about Titans is revealed.

[h=1]Live-Action Titans Series Casts Former Aquaman As Hawk[/h]

Alan Ritchson has joined the cast of DC’s upcoming live-action Titans series as Hank Hall aka Hawk. DC may already have a number of shows on The CW, multiple films in development for the DCEU, and considering launching a new banner for standalone films, but they’re also now diving into the streaming world with original content. Titans will be the first original series they create for their own online service and they’ve continued to expand the cast over recent weeks.
Casting began by naming Teagan Croft as Raven, then continued with Anna Diop cast as Starfire, and found their leading man with Brenton Thwaites cast as Dick Grayson. Following word that Alan Ritchson and Rebecca Rittenhouse were frontrunners to play Hawk and Dove for the series, one of those deals has now apparently closed.

Deadline is reporting that Ritchson has now officially joined the cast of Titans in a recurring role. The deal reportedly has an option for him to be promoted to a series regular for season 2 depending on the reception of his character and the show. But, if the reaction is incredibly positive, discussions are reportedly already underway for a Hawk and Dove spinoff series. Update: DC has since confirmed Ritchson’s casting as well as the addition of Minka Kelly as Dove.

Ritchson is another solid addition to the cast and shows the wide range of names DC has been going after. Ritchson is a recognizable name and face thanks to previously playing Aquaman on Smallville, starring in Blue Mountain State, voicing Raphael in the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle films, and also appearing in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. He’s shown some range in those roles, and has been eager to dive back into the superhero landscape. Most recently, he’s been campaigning for the role of Shazam in the DCEU, but this new superhero role should keep him plenty busy – especially if a spinoff is announced.
Hawk has many of the prototypical superpowers such as enhanced speed, strength, and agility. He uses these to his advantage given his aggressive attitude and willingness to get into fights. It is character traits like these that make him a perfect companion next to Dove, who (as his romantic partner) is the exact opposite in her approach to fighting crime. Since the previous report about Ritchson proved to be true, it may not be long before Rittenhouse is announced too. With a few other superhero roles and additional supporting ones left to be cast, this will certainly not be the last casting announcement for Titans. But, with what they have assembled so far, the cast is promising.

[h=1]DC’s Live-Action Titans Series Casts Minka Kelly as Dove[/h]

DC’s upcoming live-action Teen Titans TV series, Titans, has cast Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights) as the superhero Dawn Granger aka Dove. An adaptation of DC Comics’ younger superhero team was in development for sometime at TNT, but the network announced early last year that they decided not to pursue the project, citing script issues and superhero saturation in the market as reasons for their decision. Instead, DC Comics is launching their own streaming service, which will house not only Titans, but season 3 of Young Justice.
With filming on Titans season 1 set to begin this fall, the cast has been filling out in recent weeks. First, Teagan Croft joined as Raven, then Anna Diop was cast as Starfire, with Brenton Thwaites tapped for the role of Dick Grayson last week. Though it was specified the actor would portray Dick during his Robin days, fans have wondered whether Thwaites will suit up as Nightwing – the mantle Dick Grayson takes on in the comics after growing out of the role of Batman’s sidekick. Today, DC has added two additional actors to Titans, with Alan Ritchson being cast as Hawk, and Kelly as Dove.

Deadline is reporting that the Friday Night Lights alum has joined Titans as the recurring character of Dawn Granger aka Dove, one half of the superhero duo Hawk and Dove. Additionally, as with Ritchson’s deal to play Hawk, there is an option for Kelly to become a series regular in season 2, or to co-headline a potential Hawk and Dove spinoff. DC has since confirmed the casting of both Kelly and Ritchson.

The pair of Hawk and Dove is described as “a crime-fighting, vigilante duo and romantic couple.” While Hawk is the “aggressive, offensive bruiser,” Dove’s skills are more strategic and defensive. Although Ritchson falls in line with earlier reports concerning the frontrunners for Hawk and Dove on Titans, there were no rumors about Kelly being interested in the role. Instead, it was reported Rebecca Rittenhouse was the top choice to play this live-action version of Dawn Granger. Still, while Ritchson may have more superhero experience under his belt – having previously played Aquaman on Smallville – Kelly has done some action work on the short-lived Charlie’s Angels reboot and FOX’s Almost Human.
With the casting of Ritchson and Kelly, it would seem Titans has officially filled out their main superhero team – though Beast Boy has yet to be cast as well as more supporting characters. Written by Academy Award-winning scribe Akiva Goldsman, DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns, and Arrowverse architect Greg Berlanti, the series will follow Dick Grayson as he becomes the leader of a brand new superhero team. Given those involved behind the scenes and the strong cast assembled so far, Titans is proving to be an intriguing project.

[h=1]Titans TV Series Villain Revealed[/h]

The Acolyte, a lesser-known DC Comics villain, will be the first “Big Bad” encountered by the heroes in the season premiere of Titans. The reveal also provides hints of what incident will unite the title characters.
As the live-action TV series is finally moving forward, Titans casting updates have been pouring in over the last few weeks, with Teagan Croft as Raven, Brendan Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Alan Ritchson as Hawk and Minka Kelly as Dove all now confirmed. The actor who will play Beast Boy has yet to be announced, however. With early production already underway on Titans, fans can expect numerous developments in the coming weeks as the cast continues to fill out and the show’s plot becomes more clear.

ThatHashtagShow has learned that in the Titans series premiere, the heroes will face the Acolyte, described as male, African-American, confident, and between 40 and 50 years of age. The character will apparently murder Raven’s mother. According to the report, Angela (Raven’s adopted mother) will be killed by the Acolyte in his attempt to kidnap Raven and use her powers for his own gains.

The Acolyte, who debuted in Young Justice #9 in 1999, has had limited appearances in the comic books. The character is supposedly an immortal with the appearance of a devil. However, despite how frightening he may appear, the Acolyte is eventually revealed to be a fraud in the comics. He’s actually a mentally-disturbed human wearing a disguise. In his battles with the superhero group Young Justice, the Acolyte’s plans have included replacing God and resurrecting a Hindu goddess.

The news of the Acolyte’s involvement in the story gives strong indications of what Titans intends for the character of Raven, the daughter of the demon, Trigon. It appears that Raven will have lived a normal life on Earth until the events of thethe TV show begin. In the comic books, Angela was Raven’s real mother. Raven and Angela were separated for years until Angela finally began raising her when she was ten years old.
Years later, Angela fled to Earth to gather a group of heroes to defeat Trigon. Her efforts were what led to the formation of the New Teen Titans in 1980. The New Teen Titans (Robin, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Starfire, and Raven) is actually the line-up that most fans are familiar with today. Though the Acolyte’s inclusion in the story is a new twist on the origin of the Teen Titans, it appears that the importance of Raven’s mother will carry over into the live-action TV series.

[h=1]Titans TV Show Casts Lindsey Gort as Dick Grayson’s Partner[/h]

The cast of Titans continues to grow with the latest addition providing Robin with a non-superhero ally. After so much time stuck in development hell, it’s been encouraging to watch how quickly Titans is coming together now that it’s set to premiere on DC’s new streaming service next year. And while not much is known about the plot of the series, the show’s cast is quickly coming together.
Already, we’ve seen Brenton Thwaites nab the role of Robin/Dick Grayson in Titans. A detective by day and superhero by night, he’ll be trying to strike out on his own in the new series. Joining him will be Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, and Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly as Hawk and Dove. Now, with most of the core team intact, the supporting cast is beginning to take shape.

TV Line is reporting that Lindsey Gort has been cast as Detective Amy Rohrbach on Titans. In the comics, Rohrbach is one of the only honest cops in Bludhaven, the town Grayson moves to after striking out on his own. Mirroring the most recent Titans comic book stories, the two will work alongside one another on the force even as Grayson fights crime in his off time, on the Titans TV series.

Gort is best known for her work on Baby Daddy and as the young Samantha on the Sex & the City prequel The Carrie Diaries. While we don’t know a ton about her role on the show, we did get a hint regarding the character with a casting breakdown not long ago.
Though Titans has moved on to supporting characters, there’s still one lead they haven’t locked down. We recently got a look at some audition tapes for actors trying out for the role of Beast Boy. While they ran the gamut in terms of age and experience, there’s been no word so far as to who will play the final member of the show’s eponymous team.
We learned a while back the Titans is already in production, but it’s not yet clear how long ago some of these casting decisions were made. It’s also possible that certain characters won’t appear on the series until after the core concept of the show has been introduced. Either way, it shouldn’t be long we learn even more about Titans, including who will be playing Beast Boy on the series.

[h=1]Titans TV Show Casts Big Hero 6 Actor as Beast Boy[/h]

Warner Bros.’ Titans live-action series has cast Ryan Potter as Beast Boy. While DC comics characters have been thriving on The CW, DC is looking to expand their reach with their own streaming service. To make the new service more lucrative to subscribers, they are planning on launching it with exclusive pieces of DC programming. Titans will finally bring many of the Teen Titans group to live-action, and the show has been rounding out its cast over the last several weeks.
Throughout the casting of the team, one major role has remained unfilled – that of Garfield Logan aka. Beast Boy. The transforming youngling is a fan-favorite character, and audition tapes surfacing signaled that a decision would come soon. Now, it has been made official that a Big Hero 6 star has landed the part.

CBR
revealed Warner Bros.’ official announcement that Ryan Potter from Big Hero 6 will play Beast Boy in the live-action Titans series. Along with the casting of Gar, the studio also released a character description of the hero that sticks pretty close to his comic book roots:[/h]

As a child, Garfield “Gar” Logan contracted the lethal disease, Sakutia, while on an African expedition with his geneticist parents. Treated with an experimental drug, Gar survived but not without developing some bizarre side effects. Along with skin and hair turning permanently green, the wisecracking, fun-loving Beast Boy is able to reshape himself into any animal of any size he can imagine.

Potter’s casting in Titans will finally grant him his wish of getting to play a live-action superhero. He previously campaigned to be cast as Robin in some capacity, but that was no longer a possibility within Titans once Brenton Thwaites was cast as Dick Grayson. Even though this isn’t the role he may have dreamed of, it should be a good fit for Potter with the fun-loving nature of Gar. What remains to be seen it just how well Beast Boy’s abilities will translate to the small screen in live-action form.
Potter doesn’t only join Thwaites as members of the Titans, as most of the cast has already been found as well. It began with Teagan Croft being cast as Raven, then Anna Diop as Starfire, Alan Ritchson as Hawk, Minka Kelly as Dove, and Lindsey Gort as Amy Rohrbach. No other heroes are expected to join the ensemble now, but we are still waiting on casting of the villainous Acolyte. Expect that role and a few other minor ones to be cast in the coming weeks, and then we will hopefully start to get official looks at these characters.

[h=1]More Titans TV Show Characters Potentially Revealed[/h]

The latest Titans breakdowns may reveal that characters like Roy Harper and Brother Blood will be part of the upcoming live-action DC TV series. Furthermore, they suggest that (at least) one of the Titans’ parents will be a recurring player on the show.
Titans spent years in development at TNT, before the network passed on the superhero TV series in 2016. The project stayed dormant for more than a year thereafter, until DC announced plans for its digital streaming service – one that would kickoff with a revived version of Titans, as well as the animated Young Justice season 3 (aka. Young Justice: Outsiders). Titans has now assembled most of its main cast, including; Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, Minka Kelly as Dove, Alan Ritchson as Hawk, and Ryan Potter as Beast Boy. There are, of course, other characters from the world of DC Comics that could show up as “guest stars” in Titans season 1, setting them up to play a larger role or even become a member of the main cast at some point in the future.
[h=4]New Titans characters breakdowns have now been unveiled by THS – the site that previously uncovered the character breakdowns for Hawk and Dove on Titans and even reported Ritchson’s potential involvement with the series, well ahead of his official casting. The site has gotten ahold of four more character descriptions for the TV show, which you can read through below:[/h]
[DANIEL CROSS]Male, 17-19, Caucasian. Athletic, street smart, cocky, yet charming. His life is changed forever when he crosses a crime fighter and is given a new outlet for his rebellious ways. RECURRING GUEST STAR.
[JENNIFER ANDREWS]Female, 20s/30s, Caucasian. Small town, Midwestern girl gone to Hollywood, Jennifer is a star on the rise. She comes across a doe-eyed, All-American and naive in her approach to her art, and life. Jennifer emulates the classic girl-next-door actors from the 1940s and 50s. A bit Stepford-y in her thinking and appearance, Jennifer feels like a woman out of time. RECURRING GUEST STAR.

[CAROLINE]Female, 40s, Caucasian. Forever sleepless with worry, she’s the mother to a young, troubled teen. Seeking a recognizable cameo face or name. GUEST STAR.

[THE MESSENGER]Male, 50s-60s, Open ethnicity. Outwardly a warm and kind presence, he doesn’t seem the type to be powerful or malicious. But he has the ability to turn on a dime and be the most terrifying man you have ever met. Seeking offer only names/recognizable faces…RECURRING GUEST STAR.

As noted in THS‘s report, the descriptions for “Daniel Cross” and “Jennifer Andrews” suggest that these breakdowns could be for Titans‘ versions of Roy Harper and Rita Farr (aka. Elasti-Girl), respectively. Both superheroes have frequently appeared in Titans comic books over the years and are no strangers to the world of DC television either, having shown up in Cartoon Network’s Teen Titans TV show and The CW’s ongoing Arrow, among other small screen properties. Because DC’s live-action movies and TV shows do not necessarily take place within the same continuity (with exceptions, like the Arrowverse’s TV shows), there’s no reason why there cannot be two modern live-action versions of Roy Harper on TV right now. Of course, there are other possibilities for these roles (like Jason Todd for “Daniel Cross”).
Likewise, THS speculates that “The Messenger” could refer to Sebastian Blood/Brother Blood, another character who has appeared on Arrow in the past. Since Titans will be made available through a different platform altogether than The CW’s Arrowverse series, having multiple versions of both Brother Blood and Roy Harper shouldn’t prove all that confusing to those following closely at home. Brother Blood also seems like someone who could wind up working for Titans‘ reported big bad, aka. Acolyte.
As for “Caroline”, the best guess right now is Angela Roth, aka. Raven’s mother. This would also explain why the Titans TV series is seeking a “recognizable cameo face” for the role, similar to how other modern DC TV series have cast famous names in supporting roles (see, for one example, 1970s Wonder Woman TV show star Lynda Carter’s role on Supergirl as the secretly-extraterrestrial president of the United States). Expect to learn more on this front soon, once filming on the Titans pilot episode has gotten fully underway.

[h=1]Titans TV Series Will Reportedly Include The Flying Graysons[/h]

New intel emerges online implicating that the Flying Graysons will indeed appear in the upcoming Titans TV series. The show has already locked in its principal cast, and now the priority is finding the supporting players, which possibly gives us hints at the narrative beats the project will tread once it rolls out next year.
Taking inspiration from the Teen Titans comic books and hit animated series, the live-action adaptation follows the younger generation of DC heroes who are also former sidekicks of bigger superheroes in the mythos led by Brenton Thwaites’ Dick Grayson. Eventually taking the mantle of Batman’s former protege, Robin the Boy Wonder, Titans will trace the early steps of the character as he is groomed to be the leader of the group living the superhero life despite their young age — including how his family background may have factored into his journey to become one of DC’s most popular hero.

As reported by Omega Underground, an audition tape featuring Canadian actor Tim Campbell for the role of “Ben Crossland” has been revealed online. Earlier Titans character descriptions referred to Dick Grayson as “John Crossland,” so Ben is Dick’s father. In the short clip, you can see the Hollywoodland star talking to his wife and a young John about some superstition before a “big entrance.” Fans know from the comic books that the Grayson family are circus performers, specializing in doing gymnastic stunts, hence the name the Flying Graysons. It sounds like Titans will be showing us a piece of their life on stage to further establish Dick’s character. Although, the test script was tweaked a bit and instead depicts the brood as singers instead of being entertainers.

From the dialogue alone, you already get a sense that the Graysons have a close and loving relationship with each other. So if Titan goes about the tragic death of Dick’s parents, which seems to be the case given that Tony Zucco seems to also exist in the new narrative, we can expect that the young hero-in-the-making will take it to heart and will possibly be one of his most pivotal motivation to better himself.
It’s important to remember, however, that the audition tape is by no means a confirmation that Campbell will eventually play the part of the Grayson patriarch as the gig can ultimately land on someone else’s lap. If anything, the intel just confirms that Titans will tread Dick’s relationship with his family and depending on how the series wants to spin it, we can either see their deaths in linear storytelling or via a flashback.
