Connect COmmunication Queries

Guys i need your help in choosing an isp btwn ptcl n connect.

Currently i'm using 1mbps ptcl (working great) but i'm thinking to switch to connect 1mbps net because of their data servers.
I wana know how's their service and do they have any connectivity issues? Any one from Defense Karachi?

Secondly i'm using netgear adsl wifi router and want to use it with connect but connect people are telling to buy some tplink wifi router as according to them only that router works with their network. Is it true or can we use netgear too?

Any extra information or help wil also be appreciated.

Well you certainly can't use an ADSL router with an Ethernet WAN. ADSL uses the phone line while Ethernet runs over cat5 cable. There are Ethernet netgear, asus, dlink etc. wifi routers available so you can buy one of those if you have something against tp link.

I have no experience with connect but generally speaking switching ISPs because of pirated content servers or some such "feature" is a bad idea. The reason is that its a huge hassle to switch ISPs. Cat 5 cabling is expensive and no doubt connect will charge you a handsome amount to install it. And if the pirated content servers are not to your liking your screwed. This is Pakistan and a reliable Internet service is a blessing. So stick to whatever works for you now

I recently switched to PTCL in pindi and the connection has been working great for me, so I would recommend PTCL .. I've been getting a constant 4 Mbps stream from day 1 :wink2:

Guys connect has movies, songs and other Stuff on their servers. secondly ithas happy hoURs etc

i used connect for around a year and it sucked . Loads of faults and disconnections in the line plus the customer support sucks ass. The so-called 'network engineers' were useless and pathetic. So i would say to stick with PTCL and forget about cable internet atm !

That is not possible. ADSL is different from ethernet. ADSL is a way to deliver high speed internet access over phone lines. Ethernet is a general purpose networking technology. Its like day and night. Maybe what you are calling an ADSL router is not an ADSL modem/router combo device but a general purpose ethernet wifi router. Only way to tell for sure is if you share the model number with us like I asked you to. Once I have the model number I will look up the specifications online and advice you further.
