1. Widest aperture (f 2.8 for example)
2. Longest exposure (30 sec)
3. Max focal length u have (10mm)
4. Clean ISO range (ISO 3200)
5. Darkest area with darkest skies u can find (atleast 100km away from cities)

For example I took this image in naran near jhalkand and my settings were
Expoaure 30 seconds, 14mm lens on full frame, ISO 3200, F2.8

for ur case use following settings
focal length 18mm, f 3.5, ISO 6400 n then come down which ever ISO looks okay to u, exposure 600/(1.5x18)= 22 sec ... if u use more than 22 seconds the stars will show star trails near the edge of picture ...
how to calculate longest exposure: 600 divided by focal length on full frame
18mm on a cropped sensor is actually 27mm on full frame (18x1.5=27)

FaridAhmed, Pleasant and opethian covered it pretty well i think.

If you want to go for star trails specifically here's a guide on how to do it: Photographing Star Trails

I myself have no first hand experience in such type of photography.
