---regarding over clocking well its almost a dead thing these days -- no one interested or has no time .

no interest at all in over-clocking since it is not required at all, Stock is working fine, its already summer, ambient temps are 40C, whatever cooling u have these things work on ambient temps, so NO to overclocking this time

and no time for this anymore, :)

P.S i took my 3930k to 5ghz when i bought this new, :)

guide me plz to

how to remain stable at 4.5g
my core clock remains fluctuating from 1.2ghz - 4.5ghz
i want to keep it at 4.5ghz

yaar i have forgotten everything seriously, i havent been into overclocking since a year i guess
but the thing which u have mention that ur clocks are fluctuating is because of speed step,
actually this is a good option and it gives u good idle temps,
if u turn this option off ur processor will remain on 4.5ghz even on idle, so idle temps will increase plus power consumption will also increase

if u want to check that if ur overclock is stable or not, then simple run prime95

Bro I m also talking about 4.5ghz clocked temps....

As the core fluctuates . So I dont know how to keep core oced...

whats the point .......of over clocked cpu --u are just screwing with it --

no requirement --unless u want to benchmark which u are not --so our suggestion with grain of salt --dont over clock if you dont know what u are doing
over clocking a x79 is slightly tricky --as you cant just increase the FSB - u have to play around with core voltage / multiplyiers / pll votages and they are micro adjustments to be made.

and i am using msi flag ship big bang xpower 2 and i have been to 5.1ghz on the 3970xtreme .

cooled by h100i with 4 / 120mm corsair af120 high performance fans @ 2850 rpm each

JANASHEEN might help keeping in view his vast knowledge on cpus over clocking specially after the little experiment which happened with a poor cpu

increase the multi to 48 and see if it boots - if it does not increase the voltage slightly to 1.42 and see give or take it might reach 5ghz but i have no idea on the votlages it will take might be 1.5v even so i think for you at this stage a 4.6ghz over clock with the current votlage is enough .

try to lower the votlage by small increments and run prime95 to see if its stable --if its stable at low voltages then good for yu .

before the advent of k cpus when we had locked cpu overclocking mostly dont via blck over clocking , with advent of k series and open to the world over clocking sessions it becase relative .

blck and strap go together - you cant do 100 strap and 125 on the black both go side by side --though i find it strange that some vendors show 100 strap and 125 on the blck oc , how they are stable is beyond me .

you can chagen them the blck frequency but that will also change a no of other parameters , the pci bus lane speeds , the mem speeds and a whole host of things which at this stage i dont think u should mess with .

as i said just dial in 46 / 47 on the multi with same voltages and see if it boots , in to windows and is prime stable --if it is then good --

just keep it there / save the profile , no need to run it 24/7 at those voltages
