[h=1]Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 Casting Call Fuels Ghost Rider Rumors[/h]

The Marvel Comics properties have been dominating the big screen for many years now, but the small screen is a different story. DC Comics has been dominating television on the CW Network with series like Arrow, The Flash and now Supergirl. Now that Agent Carter has been cancelled, the ABC network series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is the flagship representation on network television for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, at least until Damage Control debuts.
The move thus far has been to keep the major characters on the big screen and over on Netflix, with hit darker-toned hit series like Daredevil, The Punisher and Jessica Jones. Now, an SDCC teaser ad and a casting call are creating real buzz about the possibility of Ghost Rider being added to the fourth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

It would be a huge move to add a character like Ghost Rider to a network television series, instead of moving the character right into a darker, more adult themed series on Netflix. The inclusion of a major and recognizable Marvel hero can only serve to elevate Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season four with audiences. That coupled with the new later time slot of 10/9c could allow for some edgier content. The only question is, which Ghost Rider are we going to see, if any? A new casting call has leaked for the series that points towards a modern incarnation of the supernatural anti-hero.
As noted by Comic Book, the casting call has gone out for a pair of latino brothers with one characterized as “the most dangerous person in the room” and the other brother is “paralyzed in a wheelchair”. This could point to the 2014 comic book incarnation of Ghost Rider, a Mexican-American named Robbie Reyes. Reyes drives a flaming black muscle car instead of the traditional motorcycle and carries his own distinctive look as Ghost Rider. He also happens to have a disabled brother named Gabe. It could be that using this modern version of Ghost Rider is Marvel’s compromise, as it still leaves the more traditional Johnny Blaze incarnation open for an adult-themed series down the road.

The Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider debuted in Marvel Spotlight #5 back in 1972. Created by Gary Friedrich, the name first belonged to Carter Slade, the Phantom Rider, in 1967. The Ghost Rider legacy has grown over the years, gaining immense popularity throughout the 1990s and spawning two Nicholas Cage-starring feature films, Ghost Rider (2007) and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2012).
The big heroes, like the Avengers, may not make appearances on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but the impact of events, like Captain America: Civil War, may have still a ripple effect on the characters in season four. If it turns out that the San Diego Comic Con teasers featuring the Hellfire chains do mean that Ghost Rider is coming to television, it could turn the entire tone of the series and make it a must-see part of the Marvel Universe.

[h=1]Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Why the All-New Ghost Rider is What Season 4 Needs[/h]

There’s been a lot of speculation in recent weeks concerning season 4 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., especially once Marvel teased fans with an image of flaming chains in advance of San Diego Comic-Con 2016. Everyone’s mind immediately leapt to Ghost Rider, but the consensus settled on the tease being a reference to the character Hellfire instead. After all, what’s the likelihood that Marvel would waste Ghost Rider on a non-Netflix show with a TV budget?
Turns out, it may be better than average. Word broke that the show was casting “two Latino brothers,” one of whom was in a wheelchair and the other who was always the most dangerous person in the room.” Some claim that this could be any two characters, but for fans of Marvel’s 2014 title All-New Ghost Rider there’s only one pair of brothers that really fits the bill: Robbie Reyes and his younger brother Gabe.
[h=2]Who Are the Reyes Brothers?[/h]

When Marvel brought Ghost Rider back as part of its All-New Marvel NOW! initiative in 2014, a lot of fans were initially left scratching their heads. Instead of bringing back a familiar character like Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch, the All-New Ghost Rider series featured a Mexican-American teenager named Robbie Reyes and there wasn’t a motorcycle in sight. Even the origin of Robbie’s powers was different. At first it seemed like change for the sake of change, but the overall story contained in All-New Ghost Rider was well worth the read.

At the heart of All-New Ghost Rider was a tale of two brothers on their own, and what the older brother was willing to do for the younger. Gabe was disabled, and Robbie struggled to give his brother the support he needed. The need to do right by Gabe made Robbie into Ghost Rider in the first place; he entered a street race to win enough money so they could afford to move to a safer neighborhood, only to be gunned down by a team trying to recover some of the supervillain Mr. Hyde’s pills that were in the trunk of the car he used. Robbie was revived by a spirit named Eli, and agreed to help Eli avenge his own death when the spirit offered him the power to protect Gabe.
[h=2]The Most Dangerous Person in the Room[/h]

Part of what makes Robbie Reyes so much different than other versions of Ghost Rider is that he’s not out to punish the wicked; his first priority is protecting his brother, and even used his powers to win races so he could afford what Gabe needed. On top of that, Eli isn’t a Spirit of Vengeance like other Ghost Riders… he’s the spirit of a serial killer, who performed satanic rituals as part of his murders. He’s a powerful force, and at one point managed to take control of Robbie’s body in his human form.

That’s part of what makes Robbie’s Ghost Rider so dangerous: he doesn’t have the same sort of calling as others who have borne the title. Robbie’s in it to protect Gabe, and that leaves him open to Eli because it gives the spirit a weakness to exploit. This is actually what leads Robbie to eventually reaching a balance with Eli, agreeing to help him satisfy his bloodlust but only against those who deserve it; Robbie becomes the Ghost Rider in the end because it was the only way he could ensure Eli would leave Gabe alone.

[h=2]Robbie Reyes vs. Johnny Blaze[/h]

If Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is going to take a darker turn in season 4, bringing Ghost Rider to the show would definitely be one way to do it. If ABC is going to do that, though, why not go with a more well-known version of the character like Johnny Blaze? There were rumors that Ghost Rider might be getting his own Netflix series, which would likely feature Blaze, but saving that character for his own show isn’t the best reason to use Robbie instead. A much better reason to go with Robbie is that his story fits better in a show that won’t focus solely on the Ghost Rider character.

Unlike Blaze, who is famously a loner, Robbie has family responsibilities he won’t abandon. The day-to-day Reyes drama would be an easier story to fit into the show’s established world, and it could even reference Cal Johnson, a.k.a. Mr. Hyde (or at least his chemical formulas) as a tie-in to Robbie’s origin in the comics. If Robbie thought that Coulson and his team were a threat to Gabe, or if Eli convinced him that the team would try to take Gabe away then it would give him a reason to be an antagonist on the show as well. A Blaze-focused Netflix series would be amazing, but when it comes to sharing time with the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cast then Robbie’s the right Ghost Rider for the job.
[h=2]A New Direction[/h]

Ghost Rider could be just what Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. needs to break it out of its Inhumans-delivered rut, which gives additional credence to the theory that the character may actually be coming to the show. The Inhumans story has dominated the series for much of seasons 2 and 3. With the Inhumans movie off of the Marvel cinematic slate for the moment, the show needs something different to focus on. Coulson and his team need to respond to threats that aren’t Inhumans or aren’t trying to do something with the Inhumans.
Robbie’s Ghost Rider is a great solution to this problem. It’s unlikely that the show will make him an Inhuman, and even as a hero there’s a lot of room for him to be misunderstood as a threat. With any luck, we’ll see a good portion of the season without Inhumans (aside from Daisy and her ongoing arc) to show that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. can balance different parts of the Marvel universe without getting stuck on any particular group. If handled properly, it could make season 4 the show’s best season yet.

[h=2]Ghost Rider in Season 4?[/h]

One reason that some fans gave for not believing that Ghost Rider could come to the show is the amount of CGI that would be needed for a skeleton biker with a flaming skull and physics-defying chains. This is circumvented with Robbie Reyes, since a lot of his character could be done with practical effects; his “skull” is a race helmet, his car doesn’t undergo major transformations and the fire from his car could be done with a mix of CGI and actual fire. Robbie is a tv-budget-friendly Spirit of Vengeance who would be easier to work into a major story arc than a loner who seeks to smite the wicked.
There’s no telling exactly where the Ghost Rider story arc could fit into the story, though as you can see, the character could easily be made an important part of the season. Fans can expect Ghost Rider to be officially confirmed or denied when Marvel TV talks Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on July 22 at Comic-Con.

[h=1]Ghost Rider Confirmed For Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4[/h]

“When the Spirit of Vengeance rides into S.H.I.E.L.D., it’ll change everything,” might be one of the most exciting statements ever issued by Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb. We chatted with Loeb earlier today about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 and while at the time, he remained tight-lipped, we knew all of the speculation about Ghost Rider riding alongside Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) was true because his vehicle is literally parked – draped over with a black tarp – at the Marvel booth of San Diego Comic-Con.
Stay tuned for that unveil shortly!
Gabriel Luna (True Detective, Matador) “will roar into the lives” of Agent Coulson and the team, as Robbie Reyes the unstoppable Ghost Rider, which was revealed today at Comic-Con International in San Diego.
A photo of Luna is below, released by Marvel, and confirming early reports we shared that he’d indeed be playing the Reyes version of Ghost Rider. There’s also a brief fiery skull teaser trailer and the full season 4 logo below… Our apologies to fans of the Nicolas Cage adaptation of the original Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider.
Gabriel Luna cast as Robbie Reyes

Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb:
“Season 4 will unquestionably be the series’ biggest, most ambitious story yet, and it all begins with the introduction of one of our greatest legacy characters in Ghost Rider… When the Spirit of Vengeance rides into S.H.I.E.L.D., it’ll change everything.”

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is executive produced and co-created by Joss Whedon (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) and Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, (“Dollhouse,” “Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”). Jeffrey Bell (“Angel,” “Alias”) and Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” “Marvel’s Daredevil”) also serve as Executive Producers. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios.

[h=1]Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Casts Jason O’Mara as New S.H.I.E.L.D. Director[/h]

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. isn’t afraid of shaking things up every now and then, whether by revealing that an established team member has been evil all along, or giving the science duo with a comfortable brother-sister dynamic a new romantic relationship arc. The end of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 gave us a sneak peek at upcoming changes, with S.H.I.E.L.D. director Phil Coulson demoted to being a regular S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, and the mention of a new Director in charge of the division.
There are some major new characters expected to join Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in season 4, not the least of which is Gabriel Luna as iconic Marvel character Ghost Rider. Another important new cast member has just been revealed, however, and it’s someone who will surely play a hugely pivotal role in the future of the series.
Deadline reports that Jason O’Mara (Complications) will be playing the new Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. His character name has not been revealed, but apparently he will be playing “a character whose Marvel roots go back to the 1940s.” Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb, had this to say about the casting choice, and about O’Mara’s role in the upcoming season.

“Bringing Jason into the mix as the New Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. forces everyone, particularly Coulson, to reevaluate their role in the Agency… Jason has both the physical presence and acting dynamics that will connect with and challenge even the most loyal agent.”
O’Mara’s filmography includes some work on the other side of the comic book fence, as the voice of Batman in animated films like Batman vs. Robin and Justice League: Throne of Atlantis. He also played time-travelling police officer Sam Tyler in the U.S. version of Life on Mars, and has appeared in various other TV series, including The Good Wife and Terra Nova.

If fire is the theme of the season, then the new Director could perhaps be a version of the original Human Torch, who was an android created by a scientist called Phineas T. Horton. It just so happens that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has already introduced a future-tech-obsessed scientist (Holden Radcliffe, played by John Hannah) who was shown creating a Life-Model Decoy in the season 3 finale. The original purpose of Life-Model Decoys was to act as duplicates of existing S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, so that they could create diversions during missions or save living people from having to give up their lives. However, with a bit of tweaking Radcliffe could potentially create an LMD with a few extra powers – flight and pyrokinesis, for example. If O’Mara’s character name is revealed to be Jim Hammond, or some variation thereof, we could be in for a TV version of the Human Torch.
That said, the Human Torch is far from the only Marvel character who was created in the 1940s, and the new Director could be markedly different from whichever character he’s based on. However, the reveal that he does have comic book roots, rather than being a completely original character, is certainly intriguing.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 premieres Tuesday, September 20 @10pm on ABC.

[h=1]Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 Official Synopsis Teases Ghost Rider[/h]

Introduced as the first television spinoff from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. seemed to struggle in season 1 – until Captain America: The Winter Soldier hit theaters and the show’s tie-in episode turned its premise on its head. Following S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team on missions, the ABC series has explored various aspects of the MCU. Most notably, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has introduced Inhumans to the MCU, including the reveal that Skye was Daisy Johnson a.k.a. (Chloe Bennet) and the formation of the Secret Warriors.
However, following the defeat of the Inhuman Hive (Brett Dalton) in the season 3 finale, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. teased a time jump that would prove to shake up the status quo once season 4 arrives. Recent reveals, like the announcement that Ghost Rider will be joining the series and the casting of Jason O’Mara as the new S.H.I.E.L.D. director along with the official synopsis for season 4, confirm that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be quite different when it returns this fall.

Marvel unveiled the official season 4 synopsis, which reveals the new roles for Coulson and members of his former team within S.H.I.E.L.D., teases the introduction of Robbie Reyes a.k.a. Ghost Rider (Gabriel Luna), and hints at Dr. Radcliffe’s (John Hannah) Life-Model Decoys that were introduced in the season 3 finale.

Check out the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 synopsis:
In light of the Sokovia Accords, and with Hydra obliterated, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been legitimized again and no longer needs to operate in the shadows. Since the world presumes that Coulson is dead, the organization needed a new Director (Jason O’Mara) to be the face of the organization. Coulson finds himself back in the role as an agent and teamed with Mack (Henry Simmons), and together they are tasked with tracking down and confirming the presence of Enhanced people, aka Inhumans. They have been trying to track down and capture Daisy (Chloe Bennet), aka Quake, who has gone rogue in an attempt to atone for sins from the past. But with the world believing that Daisy is a dangerous outlaw who has taken down banks and bridges, the new Director has no qualms about taking her down for good. Agent May (Ming-Na Wen) is tasked with training specialist strike teams, and Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) have taken a big step forward in their relationship. But with Simmons’ new promotion as Special Advisor to the Director in Science and Technology, Fitz, as well as her former team members, finds it hard to confide in or trust her since she’s now the Director’s confidant.

Robbie Reyes (Gabriel Luna) will roar into the lives of Agent Coulson and the team as a junkyard mechanic who can turn on a dime into the terrifying Ghost Rider. Will Robbie be a friend or foe to S.H.I.E.L.D. – as well as the world, itself? Meanwhile, Fitz discovers that socially awkward genius and friend Dr. Radcliffe (John Hannah) has started putting the finishing touches on a new, secret invention.
Of course, while the season 4 synopsis does mention Ghost Rider joining the series, it offers little about how the Marvel character will affect Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Certainly, considering Doctor Strange will officially bring the mystic arts into the MCU this fall, it’s perhaps the best time to welcome a character such as Ghost Rider to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. But, aside from his working as a junkyard mechanic, it remains to be seen how Robbie will fit into the dynamic of Coulson’s team – or whether he’ll butt heads with S.H.I.E.L.D.’s resident mechanic, Mack.

Plus, the synopsis also offers a brief hint at Radcliffe’s “new, secret invention,” which was teased to be Marvel Comics’ Life-Model Decoys in the season 3 finale. The robotic creations are made to mimic living people and act, as their name suggests, as decoys or body doubles for high-ranking agents. However, given how little time in the finale and space in the synopsis is devoted to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s LMDs, it may be some time into season 4 before they become integral to the storyline.
In addition to the teases of Ghost Rider and LMDs, the season 4 synopsis also lays out how Captain America: Civil War – specifically, the Sokovia Accords – will affect Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. going forward in that the agency is back on the up and up. But, the legitimization of S.H.I.E.L.D. will cause a shift in the dynamics of the organization, with Coulson no longer being director. Additionally, it seems Simmons’ promotion to work alongside the new director will have an effect on her relationships with Fitz and her friends. Since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has worked due to the dynamics of the team, fans will certainly be curious to see how the relationships between these characters evolve.
So, while the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 synopsis doesn’t offer too many specific details about what to expect, it certainly hints at what’s to come and where viewers will find the characters when the series returns this fall.

[h=1]Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Gabriel Luna on What Ghost Rider Brings to the Show[/h]

After two years of largely dealing with introducing then exploring the Inhumans, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 will be delving into a different kind of science with the introduction of Life-Model Decoys and magic as Ghost Rider joins the show. Marvel announced at Comic-Con International in San Diego this summer that Gabriel Luna was cast as Robbie Reyes a.k.a. Ghost Rider, and his signature muscle car was unveiled on the show floor.
In the weeks since the official announcement, the season 4 synopsis teased Ghost Rider as someone who could be a friend or foe to S.H.I.E.L.D. Plus, it seems Robbie will be met early on in the season by Daisy Johnson a.k.a. Quake (Chloe Bennet) as the actress revealed she’s worked with Luna already and we’ve seen here character take on Ghost Rider’s car through set videos. Now, Luna has discussed what he believes his character will bring to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4.

In an interview with IGN, Luna spoke about his love of the Marvel Comics on which his character is based, and the number of comic runs he read in preparation for the role. According to Luna, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s take on the character of Ghost Rider will attempt to be a fresh spin while still staying true to the “history and mythos” of the comics. He said, “I think Jed and Mo and the writing team has done a really good job of doing that.”
Gabriel Luna and Taylor Kitsch in True Detective

Additionally, the actor explained how Ghost Rider will bring magic to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.:
The magical element is new to the world. They’ve always been rooted in a very realistic kind of depiction. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is a bridge between us the audience and the MCU. It’s like Thor’s rainbow bridge. Now you’re incorporating some of these things that they may not understand. It’s a whole new frontier, which is always cool.
Certainly, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s focus on Inhumans throughout its past two seasons has seen the team’s duo of Fitz (Leo de Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) explain their powers and physiology through the science of the human/kree experiments. Even Hive (Brett Dalton)’s mind control was explained through his affect on his victims’ brains.
So, Ghost Rider will mark Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s first foray into unexplainable magic and it will arrive shortly before mysticism is introduced to the film side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Doctor Strange. We know that Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson has said “magic is magic” in the film, but it remains to be seen how exactly Ghost Rider’s powers will be explained – or not explained – in season 4.

A photo posted by Marius Haugan (@mhariush) on Aug 8, 2016 at 7:30pm PDT
As for whether Ghost Rider will appear in any of Marvel property, Luna was asked if he’s excited to see the character grow beyond his part in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.; he said, “Absolutely. I mean, I signed on the line to do all the work necessary to make the Ghost Rider real.”
In an additional interview that IGN performed with Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb, the exec discussed their partnership with ABC and how the move of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. from the 9pm to the 10pm timeslot has opened up the possibilities of what the show can explore as well as hopefully helping the series appeal to more and/or different viewers. Specifically in regards to the Ghost Rider storyline in season 4, Loeb said:
“If it’s cool and if it’s fun and if they engage with it the way that we already have engaged with Gabe, I think there’s an opportunity not only to tell stories – the really good Ghost Rider stories – within our family, but then who knows where it goes? Who knows where he rides off to?”
Of course, Loeb’s last comment may hint at Ghost Rider riding off to other corners of the MCU – like, for instance, into the Netflix universe. But, the Marvel TV exec was quick to say it’s up to the networks to determine what stories they want to tell – a sentiment Loeb previously voiced when talking about the possibility of an Agent Carter revival. Still, for now, fans have Luna’s take on Ghost Rider in season 4 of Agents of SHIELD to look forward to.

[h=1]Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Will Put New Spin On Ghost Rider Origin[/h]

The first television offshoot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., found its footing late in season 1 in the aftermath of the Captain America: The Winter Soldier tie-in episode that saw S.H.I.E.L.D. disavowed when it was revealed to be overrun by Hydra agents. In the show’s second and third season, Phil Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) team largely focused on discovering and learning more about Inhumans. One such storyline focused on Skye (Chloe Bennet), who learned that father was Cal Zabo a.k.a. Mister Hyde (Kyle MacLachlan), she was an Inhuman, and her real name was Daisy Johnson – a.k.a. Quake from the Marvel comics.
However, the upcoming fourth season of Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. will shift the focus away from Inhumans and to less scientifically explainable aspects of the MCU – namely, the series will introduce Robbie Reyes a.k.a. Ghost Rider (Gabriel Luna). In the comics, Robbie’s origin story to becoming Ghost Rider was intertwined with Mister Hyde, who ordered mercenaries to kill Robbie and torch the scene. Instead, Robbie made a deal to become Ghost Rider and was revived, eventually going on to defeat Zabo.

Since Mister Hyde is a part of Robbie’s origin story, TV Line asked Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. co-showrunner Jed Whedon whether MacLachlan will reprise his role on the show (he was last seen at the end of season 2 with his memories wiped and no knowledge of S.H.I.E.L.D. or his daughter). Whedon said that although he’d like to see MacLachlan return, Robbie’s origin story will be different than in the comics:
“We can’t say much about what we’re going to do with [Robbie Reyes’] origin, but we are doing our own spin on it. We don’t want people who have read the comics to know exactly what’s coming.”

So, it may be safe to say that since Cal Zabo is wrapped up with Robbie’s transformation into Ghost Rider in the books, and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. origin of the character will be different, we likely won’t be seeing MacLachlan return to the series to tell this particular story, even in flashback form. Still, we do know that when Robbie is introduced, it will be unclear whether he’s friend or foe to S.H.I.E.L.D. – as seen in set videos of Daisy taking on Ghost Rider’s car.
In fact, in a recent interview with EW, Bennet spoke about her character’s interactions with Luna’s Robbie – quickly quashing any idea that he will be Daisy’s new love interest. Bennet said:
“Not sure they like each other. Not very happy interactions. They have similar backgrounds. They’re both probably misunderstood, but none of that. She’s really hurting. She’s in a lot of pain. The only thing she wants is to have nothing to lose.”
Given Bennet’s comments, it seems Daisy will meet Robbie while she’s still dealing with the fallout from the season 3 finale, specifically the loss of Lincoln (Luke Mitchell). Still, Ghost Rider isn’t the only new addition to season 4 since S.H.I.E.L.D. will have a new director and the series will be exploring Life-Model Decoys. How everything ties together remains to be seen when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 premieres next month.

[h=1]First Look at Jason O’Mara in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4[/h]

The season 3 finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. saw Phil Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) team of agents battle against the ancient Inhuman Hive, who had taken over the body of Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), and his sway over fellow Inhumans. The battle left both Hive and agent/Inhuman Lincoln (Luke Mitchell) gone. Plus, a six month time jump at the end of the finale episode indicated big changes in store for the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization – including Daisy (Chloe Bennet) having gone rogue and Coulson not being the director any longer.
In addition to welcoming the Marvel Comics hero Ghost Rider (Gabriel Luna) to season 4, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will introduce a new director, who it was recently announced will be played by Jason O’Mara (Complications). However, while Marvel TV and ABC have yet to announce the name of O’Mara’s character, we now have our first look at the new S.H.I.E.L.D. Director.

TV Line debuted the new image of O’Mara in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which is additionally the first official photo from season 4 of the series (aside from the revamped Ghost Rider-themed logo). Speaking to TV Line, co-showrunner Maurissa Tancharoen explained what the new director brings to the show: “It’s definitely a new dynamic that we added to the mix. Things have been shaken up a bit.” Take a look at O’Mara as the new director of S.H.I.E.L.D.:

Certainly, not much can be gleaned about O’Mara’s character simply from this first photo of the new director. However, it was previously revealed that he will be “a character whose Marvel roots go back to the 1940s.” Additionally, the actor recently spoke about the role, explaining that although the character is being adapted from the Marvel Comics library, the writers are sure to put their own spin on it. Still more tidbits of information can be gleaned from the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 synopsis, which teases a close working relationship between the director and Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge).
That said, while we may not know what classic Marvel Comics character O’Mara may be playing in the upcoming season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., it’s likely to be a new take on the character who will fit into the world established in previous seasons of the show. Plus, we know the new director will have plenty to contend with since Daisy has gone rogue, becoming a vigilante, Ghost Rider will bring a new kind of superhero to the MCU, and the technology of Life-Model Decoys will be introduced as well.
So, it remains to be seen who O’Mara’s character will turn out to be and how the new director will work with the fans’ favorite S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in season 4. But, viewers have plenty to look forward to in the upcoming season in addition to the new S.H.I.E.L.D. director.

[h=1]Agents of SHIELD: Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider Likely Won’t Return[/h]

Season 4 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had a major shift in focus heading in, with Inhumans taking the backseat to a lesser known version of a popular character. Gabriel Luna debuted his take on the Robbie Reyes iteration of Ghost Rider to thunderous applause. The show took many inspirations from the limited comic appearances that Robbie has had, and used his limited history to their advantage. One of the biggest changes they made was how Robbie was gifted his newfound abilities. While the drive by shooting and car accident stayed the same, he was only brought back to life as a former Ghost Rider passed on the Spirit of Vengeance to him.
Thanks to previous Easter eggs such as a poster, jacket, and broken down motorcycle, many theorized that this was the introduction to the Johnny Blaze version of the character. While the producers would not confirm his identity, they did confirm they probably won’t be bringing him back.
IGN spoke to producers Jed Whedon and Jeff Bell about the mysterious Ghost Rider that existed before Robbie took over the mantle. Due to the way they wanted to structure the character’s origin and Robbie still having the Spirit inside him, there are no plans to bring the “other” Ghost Rider back. But is the former hero Blaze? They’d rather leave that up to the viewer for now according to Bell.

There is a tradition within the comics that there’s been many Ghost Riders and our take on that was they’re not simultaneously a tribe of Ghost Riders but that it’s passed. The Spirit of Vengeance is passed from person to person. In that respect, at least our intention was that the Spirit of Vengeance was passed from one person to another, and who passed that on, there are suggestions within the storytelling … That’s as far as we’re going to take that part.

This is a drastically different take for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to implement when compared to the comics. While it may not be too surprising to learn that they don’t plan on featuring Blaze on the show, it does make it impossible for multiple Ghost Riders to exist at the same time. What this ultimately means is the heavily speculated Ghost Rider Netflix series is a no-go, as long as Robbie is possessed by the Spirit and trapped in an alternate dimension.
Hopefully at some point in the run of S.H.I.E.L.D., or should Robbie eventually get his own series, those involved would consider bringing just the human form of Blaze into the show. It is clear that Robbie still has some growing up to do to fully get a grip on his abilities, and Blaze as his mentor would be a great way to tie everything together and be a nice nod to fans of the comic. Ultimately, some would be disappointed in the scenario of Blaze never having the chance to put on the leather jacket again, but the desire of the Spirit or Robbie could change over time. Either way, S.H.I.E.L.D. continues to move away from Ghost Rider, so any chance for him or Blaze to return could come in a solo series.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4 continues Tuesday, January 24 with ‘Wake Up’ at 10:00 pm on ABC.

[h=1]Agents of SHIELD Season 5 Premieres in January 2018 With No Breaks[/h]

After days of confusion regarding the upcoming fifth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., more concrete information has finally arrived. For months, ABC has been quiet on whether or not S.H.I.E.L.D. would be getting another season. While the show’s ratings have never been stellar, it’s always done as well or better than similar series on other networks. Its core fanbase is also a dedicated one, and the stories laid out this season have plenty of room to grow. As such, the announcement last week of the show’s renewal was met with excitement from fans – but it soon turned into confusion.
Earlier this week, ABC hosted their upfronts where it was revealed that while S.H.I.E.L.D. would be getting a full 22-episode order, the show wouldn’t be premiering in the fall. Instead, Inhumans was announced to be taking over SHIELD‘s spot, with the latter moving back to 9 pm and jumping to Fridays at some point after the former wrapped up its 8-episode run. From there, speculation began on whether S.H.I.E.L.D. would debut at the end of this year or wait until next year and have a straight run of its entire season. Now, it looks like the latter will be the case.
Mark Kolpack, the visual effects supervisor for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., has confirmed that the show won’t premiere until January of 2018. While that means fans will have to wait longer to solve the mystery of where Coulson is, it also means the spring of 2018 may include 22 straight episodes of S.H.I.E.L.D. with no breaks or hiatuses.
Nothing to tease. We're back in Jan 2018 https://t.co/TZYBEGXaTC
— Mark Kolpack (@MarkKolpack) May 19, 2017

Nope. But I believe will have straight run of 22 eps. No breaks! https://t.co/GXrhaJN4qF
— Mark Kolpack (@MarkKolpack) May 19, 2017

Kolpack is almost certainly right about the lack of breaks. Generally, the 22 episodes of the series are spread out over the fall and spring, with several weeks off and even a lengthy hiatus; this year featured six weeks off in the spring, while the two previous seasons didn’t come back from winter break until March due to the placement of Agent Carter. Now, it looks like spring of 2018 will be packed with S.H.I.E.L.D..
Even if the show premieres on the first Friday in January, the 5th, it would still have to go until June 1st to manage 22 episodes without a single break. That puts it a full two weeks past the time the finale for the season usually airs and well past the end of the traditional spring season. For Marvel fans, of course, it means almost a full TV year of network series, and a nonstop block of S.H.I.E.L.D.in the spring of 2018.
Considering the way this week’s finale unfolded, the show certainly has a lot to explore next year. From the return of Ghost Rider to Coulson’s new job, there’s no shortage of avenues the series could go down. And while we’ll have to wait a bit longer than usual to see what happens next, the ride looks to be an exciting and relentless one.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 will air in January 2018 on ABC.

[h=1]Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 5: Nick Blood Returning as Lance Hunter[/h]

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 will see the return of Nick Blood as former agent Lance Hunter. The first television offshoot from Marvel Studios’ Marvel Cinematic Universe launched on ABC in the fall of 2013 and the first season was largely hit or miss – that is, until Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s tie-in episode with Captain America: The Winter Soldier completely changed the landscape of the show for the better. In season 2, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. continued to deal with Hydra and added two characters who quickly became fan-favorites: Bobbi Morse aka Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Blood).

In fact, the characters were so popular that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3 featured a storyline in which they were disavowed from the organization so that the duo could leave the show in order to headline their own spinoff, titled Marvel’s Most Wanted. However, ABC chose not to move forward with Most Wanted, which left the characters of Bobbi and Hunter in the unfortunate position of being disavowed by S.H.I.E.L.D. and seemingly unable to ever return. But, anything is possible in comic book TV shows, and it seems at least one of these characters is returning.
[h=4]Related: ABC Is Still the ‘Mothership’ for Marvel TV[/h]EW is reporting that Blood will reprise his role as Lance Hunter in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5, but for how long and the details about his return are being kept under wraps. EW additionally shared a photo of Blood on the set of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., reading a script for the series. Take a look below:

While Hunter’s return is no doubt a mystery for fans the puzzle over, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has kept most details about season 5 under wraps. The season 4 finale featured a major cliffhanger with the core S.H.I.E.L.D. team eating in a diner before being taken away by a team of what seemed to be government agents, only for Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) to wake up in a room with a view of outer space.

Since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. won’t return until Inhumans wraps up its debut season – which will likely be around mid-November – little about the upcoming season is known. Rumors have pointed to the Kree, the alien race that created Inhumans, and the Secret Warriors, Daisy Johnson’s (Chloe Bennet) team of Inhumans, returning in season 5, though it remains to be seen if either or both of these reports turn out to be true. One thing we do know is that it’s highly unlikely Bobbi Morse will return in season 5 – mainly because Palicki is busy with her new show, Seth MacFarlane’s sendup to Star Trek, The Orville.
Still, Hunter’s return certainly seems to leave to door open for Bobbi to eventually be brought back into the fold in some way, should Palicki have time to reprise her role. Additionally, Hunter’s return will be a welcome one for fans who enjoyed his original turn on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. But, it remains to be seen how he comes back and how long he stays, and we’ll hopefully get a better idea of those details once we get closer to the premiere date of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5.

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
