Sony PlayStation 5 : Play Has No Limits

PS5 Release Date, PS5 Games, PS5 Power vs Xbox One X, PS5 Price Speculation - All the PS5 Info lets discuss

Here are all the rumors and speculation surrounding the PS5, including a potential PS5 release date, power, and launch games of Sony's inevitable PS5. Is the PS5 releasing in 2019?

What we Want From the PS5 Speculation aside, what would we ideally want from the PS5? Backwards compatibility for PS4 games would be brilliant, simply because you'd be able to carry over classics like the Shadow of the Colossus remake to the next console generation. We've seen how well Microsoft is handling backwards compatibility with its Xbox One consoles (including getting amazing results updating Xbox 360 games to run in 4K on Xbox One X), and something similar on PS5 would be great.

In terms of pure power, the PlayStation 5 has to significantly exceed the power of the Xbox One X. This means featuring more games running in 4K at 60FPS. If the PS5 can deliver about 10 TF of power we'd be happy, as this would allow devs to create games that look a generation ahead of what we've got now.

But what would the dream launch lineup be for the PS5? Death Stranding and The Last of Us: Part 2 are hugely anticipated blockbuster games, with the former especially looking to push the performance of whatever system it's on to the very limit. We've also mentioned Ghost of Tsushima and a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, and the latter would be the perfect way to kick off a new console cycle from Sony.

How much insight do you guys have into how Sony decided that the PC was a market they wanted to push this on to? Was that something you were championing early on?

Barlog: I think it was the collective of studios all over saying this is a really good idea. We should be looking into this. Eventually, I think it reached that tipping point. When we had sent so many suggestion box suggestions that they were like, “I’m tired of hearing all this. Fine, we’ll do this.” It’s a process. We’re still figuring it out as a company and as individual studios how to do this and what the process and strategy will be.

It is definitely interesting to see the large number of features Sony has been working on. They are planning to launch a console that is far more powerful than any of the current systems. Surprisingly, they are looking not just to be the best in performance, but also the most compatible with older titles. They want to be able to run games for the previous three systems on their next-gen system. To do that, it will have to be backward-compatible with each of the past consoles which are the PS3, PS2, PS1, And PC Games. That's a tall order.

Firecoooda 🤩

Seagate PS5 compatible prices - (with heatsink)

1tb - $254.99 ($274.99)

For reference, Seagate's 1TB Series X|S costs $219.99.
For reference, 6 months later, I got this PS5 compatible drive (with heatsink) with performance that tops the internal drive cheaper than the Series X|S drive. This is why non-proprietary is always better 🤜

Imagine upgrading the PS5 SSD when the cross-gen period is in full force and exclusives still stutter on it :ROFLMAO:

Convenience and comfort is key to the experience. It's all very console-like.
Its not plug n play, and the benchmark is ~6500MB/s when the drive is rated for 7300MB/s? PS5 can't even max out the read speeds? Hahaha :ROFLMAO:

This is why for consoles, non-proprietary isn't necessarily better 🤷‍♂️

Drive read/write bandwidths are rated for specific use cases. The Firecuda 530 doesn't cross 7000MB/s in 1, 4, and 16 gb tests on PC CrystalDiskMark bench on either 🤷‍♂️

And even then, this drive performs better than the internal PS5 drive, so it's not just better than the Series X expansion drive. It's vastly better, and cheaper. Non-proprietary ftw 🤷‍♂️🤜

Maybe the extra speed will allow CerebralTiger to store more games. The actooooal reason he upgraded 🤷‍♂️🤣

PS5's available storage is 660.7GB (OS is 104 GB, Astro's Playroom is 2.4GB).

Works for me. Should be able to keep 7-10 games installed, with the rest archived to a portable drive.
Thank God for Nintendo.
Also, adding additional storage to PS5 isn't necessary.
In a not-so-shocking turn of events, PS5's internal storage space barely lasted a year and now CerebralTiger's PS5 costs $600 atleast. And it still can't play discs. Thank God for Nintendo.

Baat tou proprietary vs non-proprietary ki hou rahi thi, but okay let's change the subject to whether the PS5 expansion drive is necessary 🤣

Nah, it isn't necessary. Usb cold storage gets the job done. Why did I get the Firecuda expansion drive, then? Simple, because I want better performance in my PS5 games (quicker load times, higher fps and lower frame time blips (in some instances) 🤷‍♂️

Wo baat to shuru honay se pehle hi khatam hogai thi when Sony threw the console-like convenience out the window 🤣
Not console-like at all. It's just one disaster after another from this company 🤷‍♂️

Thank God for Nintendo.
Now lets talk about whether 660GB was enough or not 🤣🤣🤣

lmao I'd really like to know what's so inconvenient about pulling out the bottom plate, removing a screw, and putting the nvme drive in the expansion bay? Is connecting the base stand to the console via the provided screw when positioning it vertically also considered inconvenient by Necrokiller? 🤣

As for 667GB, I had 12 PS5 games installed and barely crossed the 500GB mark (all those games have now been moved to the expansion drive for better performance, in case you were wondering ). Coupled with a usb drive as cold storage, space is hardly an issue 🤷‍♂️

I mean, that's what it said in a earlier blog post by Herman 🤷‍♂️

Funny how Jimmy didn't mention MLB The Show, because that's been a far bigger success on Xbox than GOW has been on PC 🤣
