saw SKYSCRAPER at cinestar imax tonight

Spoiler: show

well the movie i thought would be like diehard but it isn't so much but perhaps a cheap copy lol lets not compare it to diehard than...

its fun a bit action and all some breathtaking action in there thrown in as you can guess yes the rock is in it, you can expect some good ol brawls and such but even so this movie felt bland... not much quippy liners or i don't know but still boring a bit.

got neve cambell in there too plus pablo schreiber aswell

Super Troopers 2...................(8/10) watched in HD, a typical Broken Lizard raunchy comedy movie, I watched the first part way back and this was on the same level, worth a watch!

A Quiet Place.......................(8/10) watched in HD, plus 1 for Emily Blunt, she really is a great actress, the movie overall is full of tension, some scenes had me on the edge of my seat!

Rampage (2018)

Isn't the Willis Tower (formerly known as Sears Tower) wonderful? Isn't it a beautiful structure? Don't you just wanna see it crumble? Thank You movie for giving me something I always wanted but never got it before. And for that reason alone, you cross the treacherous 'Forgettable' valley and join others where you will be remembered for this deed.

Moving on, there's a lot of cheese in the movie, lot of corny stuff, and lots of The Rock surviving all manner of hell with giant monsters wrecking shit up, which at times was certainly entertaining since I was expecting that from a movie like this but it wasn't consistently done. You'd get some entertaining stuff, then you'd get some boring parts, rinse and repeat.

A movie based on a video game about Giant mutated creatures destroying a city has no right being as long as it was. The movie tries to set up this story and it just DRAGS for a lot of it because most of the characters sucked, and the movie took itself seriously where it should have been having fun instead. I liked The Rock cause he's THE ROCK, but even he wasn't as charismatic and fun as he usually is. The one character that genuinely surprised me was Jeffrey Dean Morgan's. I loved every moment he was on screen. He was over the top but in the right ways, as is he was actually having fun, something this movie neede to have a lot more of.

Sure, there are entertaining sequences with destruction and carnage and the CGI is passable enough that it doesn't bother you a lot, but most of it is concentrated at the last 15-20 mins. I did love how the third creature was revealed, it gave me GOJIRA vibes, and GOJIRA is <3 so props to the movie for that.

All in all, it's fun in parts, has some memorable scenes, and if you like giant creatures in movies destroying stuff like me, then it is worth a try. But it's not a complete fun popcorn movie I was hoping it was gonna be.

If I had to rate it, I'd give it a 6/10.

P.S It kinda baffles my mind that the old arcade game this movie is based on actually had a more interesting premise which the movie could have expanded on instead of creating a new story to justify the giant creatures.

Ready Player One (2018)

The movie has its flaws but I'll be damned if I didn't say it was entertaining AF.

Started out with a long narration which I wasn't feeling as I wish Spielberg did more show and less tell. But as soon as you reach the race from the trailers, I WAS ALL IN! The music stops, top-notch sound design kicks in (if you have a home theater, you'll enjoy it more), and you are thrust into chaotic goodness. The way the camera moved alongside the cars with so much happening everywhere was enthralling. Things like these make this movie an enjoyable watch even if you are bothered by other elements.

The feeling of amazement, that Spielberg is known for, is definitely present here as well. As a gamer, I couldn't help but want something like the Oasis throughout the movie. Also, some of the references from pop culture were used in hilarious ways that I was not expecting and I loved it. Probably missed a ton of references, though, gonna have to rewatch it several times.

The cinematography, especially during action sequences, was spectacular. Showing the Oasis in full CGI was a smart decision as it allowed them to do a lot more crazier things and it felt like you're in a video game, and the quality of it was top notch. I enjoyed the soundtrack as well, filled with obvious popular songs from the good old times.

The standout performance in the movie was Ben Mendelsohn, as the main baddy. I enjoyed seeing his performance in every scene he was in.

Where the movie faltered for me was some parts of the story. It felt like the movie was too short for the book it was adapting as I wanted to know and see more of both worlds i.e Real and Video Game one, but you don't get enough of either. Character development also felt like it was rushed, especially the romance. And the movie kinda just ends as well with an end narration.

Also, if you start thinking deeply about how the Oasis works in this world and what not, things do start to fall apart. The technology feels like how magic feels in magic related media, it's definitely treated like that with no clear ground rules and limitations. Also also, the way the gamers are presented certainly felt like Spielberg and his team didn't really know how gamers are, which was kinda disappointing seeing the movie is about a futuristic video game.

All in all, it's an entertaining movie taking you down Nostalgia Lane but also not limited to that as the movie has its own story to tell, which even if it doesn't do a good job of, is still OK enough when combined with everything else you get that you don't feel the shortcomings as strongly as if listed separately. I had a blast while a bit disappointed at the same time as the movie could have been a lot better. One of those movies that you can find faults in the more you look but at the same time they don't stick out that much during watching it, and it's highly rewatchable.

If I had to rate it, I'd give it 7-7.5/10.

A Quiet Place (2018)

Similar to how Jordan Peele (usually known for his comedic roles) surprised us last year with an awesome mystery thriller Get Out, John Krasinski (commonly known as Jim from The Office) surprises us this year with his thriller monster movie.

The premise itself sets the stage for the movie in an interesting way as these monsters/creatures can hunt only via sound, and with an amazing cold opening, I immediately got hooked. I can see why people kept mentioning how everyone was silent in the cinemas here during the movie. The sound design can be crazy good to the point that even I didn't want to make any sounds. And when someone did accidentally make one, I was tense AF with the characters. The movie did tension right.

Everyone gave a great performance, especially Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, which was crucial as the whole movie was focused on them. You really feel for them too as the movie does an effective job of showing how difficult it can be to live like this.

The movie looks beautiful, and the music was good. John Krasinski more than proves himself that he's a capable director. Which is why there was one huge disappointing thing about the movie that I simply didn't get. Why add those false cheap ass jump scares? WHY? You have a premise that is filled to the brim with possibilities to use sound in creative ways and scare your audience (which the movie does utilize properly in several scenes), there was absolutely no need to add fake jump scares with loud musical cues. It's like you have a beautiful and delicious steak topped with an awesome sauce and you throw ketchup on top of it because it's a common thing people like, but it just cheapens the flavor. It honestly annoyed me a lot because it was used several times and not just once.
There were also some cliche scenes that were just too on the nose and felt out of place.

Overall, I love monster movies and we don't get them a lot, so it's always nice whenever a new one comes and tries out something different and at the same time executes it well (for the most part). The movie works for the setting it is in, and you obviously have to suspend your disbelief about how it all went down and things like that since that's not what the movie is about. And in that way, it was a great watch. I honestly haven't been this tense during a movie designed to be a thriller in a long time. It's just a shame that there were some amateurish things in the movie, otherwise, I would have enjoyed it even more.

If I had to rate it, it would be around 7.8 to 8/10.

saw EQUALIZER 2 at cinestar imax last night

Spoiler: show

well this is the sequel to antoine fuquas 2014 movie which i thought had a good story and drama wise was great too plus my man denzel was in it so can't miss this one. the movie had once again good story and drama. the script was good too. the movie tries to handle a few different things and i would say it didn't let down either. the pacing from here and there was quite gracefully done aswell. a 2 hour plus movie and didn't felt boring at all either. i'd say that a plus since usually 2 hour plus movies get a bit stretchy or otherwise haha. had good action and suspense too.
one can watch this one in cinema if fan of denzel or can wait for bluray at home aswell.

Godzilla Part 1: Planet of the Monsters.......................(7.5/10) watched in HD, Godzilla's first animated movie and honestly it was a disappointment. The animation was top notch, but overall it was kinda boring. The final battle with Godzilla was the only note worthy scene for me! Overall good for time pass!

Godzilla Part 2: City on the Edge of Battle.....................(7/10) watched in HD, a sequel for the above mentioned movie this one was even more boring. I was so hyped up to see Mechagodzilla but boy I was so disappointed. Barely anything happens other than the last battle! Oh but animation was amazing!!

well the acting was good all around, no denying that.
The only gripe i had was how they handled martins character , they never tell you in the movie how he managed to curse(?) the family.
its actually a sequel to the movie LOBSTER, it has same colin farrel and same kind of weird direction and story... another third part is also coming i heard...

A good korean thriller. The ending was a little weak IMO.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: FALLOUT

What an incredible movie! Believe everyone who says it's the best in the series and one of the best action movies ever. Everything from direction, to the action set pieces to the sound design was just top notch. They just keep topping themselves. I wish the bathroom fight was longer tho :( 9/10
