Witcher 3 delay does not affect Cyberpunk 2077

The delay of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC will not materially affect development on CD Projekt Red's other major role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077, CEO of the Polish studio Marcin Iwinski has said.

"Cyberpunk 2077 is developed by a separate team within CD Projekt Red, so the development of Cyberpunk 2077 is not really affected," Iwinski told GameSpot today. Cyberpunk 2077 is also coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

But that's not the full story. Because The Witcher 3 is such a large project, some Cyberpunk 2077 developers have moved over to The Witcher team to help get the product out the door.

"In order to ship a huge RPG we do use help of certain team members between teams. It works this way between Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3," he said.

These developers bounce between teams to finalize "key" elements and features, he said. This is a standard development practice and The Witcher 3's delay is not going to impact in any significant way development on Cyberpunk 2077. "So no harm done here," he explained.

"We are working hard to deliver an outstanding RPG and rest assured, that all the learnings on The Witcher 3 are being applied to the Cyberpunk 2077 development," Iwinski said.

[h=1]Cyberpunk 2077 Is ‘Far, Far Bigger’ Than Witcher 3: Wild Hunt[/h]

Open-world games are on top of the heap these days, and CD Projekt Red’s 2015 masterpiece The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is currently the benchmark of open-world games when it comes to size and scope. The Witcher 3 was 30 times as large as The Witcher 2 and 20% bigger than Skyrim, the previous titleholder. Since they started The Witcher series in 2007, CD Projekt Red’s ambition has been on a slingshot trajectory pointed toward outer space, and now it looks as though their next project will continue that journey.
The Polish developer’s next game will be Cyberpunk 2077, a game whose name makes no bones about its genre, and will doubtless take players through a vast science fiction world reminiscent of Blade Runner and Shadowrun. In fact, Cyberpunk 2077 will be so large that it might make The Witcher 3 look like a trial run in retrospect.

Jose Texeira, a digital artist at CD Projekt Red, told MCV that Cyberpunk 2077 will be “far, far bigger” than anything they’ve done before, and that Project Red’s experience with the Witcher series served as practice for an even more daring open world experiment:
“The Witcher helped Cyberpunk quite a bit, because the game got so big and so complex that it really taught us. We really didn’t know what was going to happen…If anything, working on The Witcher 3 was a really good and often brutal learning experience. Cyberpunk is going to benefit greatly from it. I can almost guarantee it.”

If Texeira is speaking the truth, it’s safe to say that a cyberpunk videogame of 2077’s size and scope has never been done before, and that Cyberpunk 2077 may turn out to be the biggest open world game to ever hit next generation consoles. Most recent open world games have featured either fantasy or contemporary crime settings, so a sprawling cyberpunk open world game is a bold new experiment. However, we think it will be a successful one.
Though Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t yet have a release date, we seem to be entering an era of peak popularity for the cyberpunk genre for both videogames and film. Blade Runner 2 is in the works and a live-action production of Akira may yet happen – and Treyarch has embraced cyberpunk elements for the campaign of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. CD Projekt Red’s open world cyberpunk game would seem to be filling a unique niche at just the right time.
But genre aside, is there such a thing as too big? Do players want even deeper immersion into virtual worlds, particularly virtual worlds about virtual worlds? Let us know in the comments.
Cyberpunk 2077 does not yet have a release date.

Witcher dev says Cyberpunk 2077 internal files being held for ransom

Early game concepts could be leaked publicly

Developer CD Projekt Red said today that internal files belonging to the company, including “documents connected to early designs” for role-playing game
Cyberpunk 2077, are being held for ransom by “an unidentified individual or individuals” and may be exposed publicly.

“A demand for ransom has been made, saying that should we not comply, the files will be released to the general public,” CD Projekt Red said in
a statement released on Twitter. “We will not be giving in to the demands of the individual or individuals that have contacted us, which might eventually lead to the files being published online. The appropriate legal authorities will be informed about the situation.”
The studio, which also produces
The Witcher games, says the files taken from CD Projekt Red are old “and largely unrepresentative” of the current version of Cyberpunk 2077, but are apparently sensitive or potentially revealing. It’s not clear how those internal files made their way into the ransomers’ possession; CD Projekt Red doesn’t specify how they leaked. We’ve reached out to the developer for more details.
CD Projekt Red warned its fans and followers that “if you’re looking forward to playingCyberpunk 2077, it would be best for you to avoid any information not coming directly from CD Projekt Red.

“When the time is right, you will hear about Cyberpunk 2077 from us — officially.”
Fans have been clamoring for new details on Cyberpunk 2077
since the game was announced in 2012. CD Projekt Red studio head Adam Badowski said earlier this year that development on the game was “quite advanced,” with several hundred people currently working on Cyberpunk 2077.

CD Projekt’s Cyberpunk 2077 shows proof of lifeOfficial Twitter account posts for first time in more than four yearsIt’s been nearly six years since CD Projekt Red announced it was working on a Cyberpunk 2077 video game, and exactly five years since the Witcher series developer revealed the game’s first trailer. Understandably, fans of the studio’s games and the promise of a massive, open-world Cyberpunk RPG are hungry for new information. So it’s no surprise that people are freaking out over a single, innocuous tweet from the official Cyberpunk video game Twitter account — the first tweet from that account in more than four years. Here it is: Cyberpunk Game@CyberpunkGame*beep*7:00 PM - Jan 10, 2018 1,892 1,892 Replies 8,744 8,744 Retweets 20,928 20,928 likesTwitter Ads info and privacyWhile that’s not much to go on, it’s a sign of life — or the sound of something booting up? — for a game we haven’t heard much about over the past half-decade.While CD Projekt Red has been relatively tight-lipped about Cyberpunk 2077 over the years, we do know a few things about the project.Cyberpunk 2077 will be a “story-based RPG experience” with single-player “playthroughs, but we’re going to add multiplayer features,” the developer said in 2013.CD Projekt Red says Cyberpunk 2077 will be an open-world, sandbox-style game set in a “corrupt and tech-advanced world.” The game’s stated goal is to give players the freedom to explore the locations of Night City on their own terms. CDPR has promised advanced RPG mechanics based on the pen-and-paper role-playing game upgraded to match the 2077 setting. The game’s setting, Night City, has been described as a diverse metropolis, populated with people who speak languages from around the world. CD Projekt Red has said it’s considering recording every character’s voice in their native tongue, and the player might have to buy a translation implant in order to understand them. The quality of the translations will depend on the quality of the implant. Most importantly, Cyberpunk 2077 will supposedly stay true to its pen-and-paper roots, but will be stuffed with some 50 years of history. (We also know that CD Projekt Red said that the game was the subject of a ransom demand in 2017, and that, at the time, development was “quite advanced,” with several hundred people working on Cyberpunk 2077.)-----------------------Beep you mother f**ker

ermahgerd its an RPG FPS + TPS !!!

CD Projekt Red has been making games for sixteen years now and there are three WitcherRPGs in their portfolio (excluding Gwent for the moment, since it’s a card game), in which we always watched our protagonist from the third person perspective. That’s why we could safely assume that the Warsaw-based studio will keep that feature in their upcoming title, Cyberpunk 2077. As we unofficialy found out, this time the thing will be completely different and the game will actually be a FPP game with elements characteristic for role-playing games. If the abovementioned information turns out to be true, we’re in for a serious treat. Cyberpunk 2077 in a first-perspon perspective would be a direct competition to games like System Shock, Prey, and most of all – Deus Ex that always bathed deeply in cyberpunk. Looking back at CD Projekt Red’s gamedev achievements, we don’t suspect the game to be a regular shooter, but rather an action game full of RPG elements that will offer the players many ways of solving problems; basically, it should be closer to Deus Ex: Mankind Divided than BioShock. Our source also confirmed that both CD Projekt studios – based in Warsaw and Cracow – are hard at work, with the latter currently focusing on a fragment of the game, the action of which will take place on the Moon. The game is supposed to be fast-paced, and one of the features that the studio is working on is wall-running, similar to the one we already saw in Titanfall games.
It’s been a long time since CD Projekt Red showed us a teaser trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 for the first time. Luckily, it seems we’re getting closer to release.

Back in January, we also got our hands on information that CD Projekt Red will be coming to E3 with a trailer of Cyberpunk 2077 and a playable demo that will be presented at closed showcases for journalists. The closer we get to the event in June, the more bits and pieces of information can we expect from the developers of The Witcher series… unless they want to keep everything as secret as possible. Hopefully, we’ll see the game in action in just under two months.

Hidden message in the trailer. Gameplay will be shown at their E3 booth, no release window given, no microtransactions, free DLCs just as good as The Witcher 3's DLCs.

It's been over 2077 days since we announced our plan to develop Cyberpunk 2077. We released a CGI trailer, gave some interviews and... went dark. Normal procedure for these kinds of things \- you announce a game and then shut up, roll up your sleeves, and go to work. We wanted to give you The Witcher 3 and both expansions first, which is why this period of staying silent was longer than we planned. Sorry for that.

As soon as we concluded work on Blood and Wine we were able to go full speed ahead with CP2077's pre\-production. But we chose to remain silent. Why? At some point, we made a decision to resume talking about the game only when we have something to show. Something meaningful and substantial. This is because we do realise you've been (im)patiently waiting for a very long time, and we wouldn't want anyone to feel that we're taking this for granted. On the contrary \- it gives us a lot of extra motivation. The hype is real, so the sweat and tears need to be real, too :).

But to the point. Today is the day. If you're seeing this, it means you saw the trailer \- our vision of Cyberpunk, an alternative version of the future where America is in pieces, megacorporations control all aspects of civilised life, and gangs rule the rest. And, while this world is full of adrenaline, don't let the car chases and guns mislead you. Cyberpunk 2077 is a true single player, story\-driven RPG. You'll be able to create your own character and..., well, you'll get to know the rest from what we show at our booth at E3. Be on the lookout for previews!

Before we finish, you probably have some questions, right?

1. When? When we told you we would only release the game when it's ready, we meant it. We're definitely much, much closer to a release date than we were back then :), but it's still not the time to confirm anything, so patience is still required. Quality is the only thing that drives us \- it's the beauty of being an independent studio and your own publisher.
2. How big? Seriously big, but..., to be honest, we have no bloody clue at this point in time. Once we put it all together, we will openly tell you what you can expect. And we promise we'll do this before we start talking about any pre\-orders or ask anything of you.
3. Free DLC/Expansions/DRM? Expect nothing less than you got with The Witcher 3. As for DRM, CP2077 will be 100% DRM\-free on PC.
4. Microtransactions? In a single player role\-playing game? Are you nuts?

Once again, thank you for your patience. If you have a minute, do visit cyberpunk.net and share your opinion (about anything) with us. We read everything you post and we treat it very seriously.

Yours, CD PROJEKT RED Team

I can’t wait to see how far the game has progressed. No public demo means its still far away but this entire trailer was in-engine (disappearing NPCs). The sheer variety and density of assets is mind blowing. And to think they are making this game even bigger than Witcher 3 is ambutious af. There were so many good games shown at this e3 but infront of Cyberpunk 2077 I cant get excited enough for any of them anymore.

If only there was gameplay trailer... I hope this is more like an RDR approach where the game is close to release but we have still not seen any proper gameplay bits from it. I know its unlikely but it seems that this has been in development for ever and the fact that this is from CDPR - the wait is literally unbearable.
