Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017): I have to say, this movie surprised me. It was a sequel nobody really asked for, and from the trailers, I wasn't expecting anything much. But it ended up being a blast, and did great at the box office, making almost a Billion Dollars worldwide, with critics and the general audience alike enjoying it.

The video game related humor was well-done, and being a gamer, I enjoyed it even more. Couple that with hilarious performances from the main cast, and it was one FUN adventure.

The Rock and Jack Black stole the show for me. Both were absolutely hilarious. Karren Gillan was also quite good and looked smokin hot. And they all portrayed their different personality well. Kevin Hart was the only one that felt like he was the odd one out. He was funny, don't get me wrong, but most of the times it just felt like Kevin Hart doing his usual routine instead of the persona in the movie. A small nitpick.

The villain was a complete MEH!, though. I would have wished they didn't even show his small scenes in between the movie as it broke the Video Game immersion (only appearing in cutscenes and in front of our heroes would have been better). The CGI was bad at times too, particularly in the last act.

Overall, a surprisingly hilarious time, with a heart. Definitely give it a watch, especially if you like playing video games.

Ferdinand (2017): Hmmm, a nice surprise. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did.

The story had issues like sometimes it was too kid friendly or it didn't have enough build up in areas, but overall I enjoyed seeing it from a Bull's perspective. I hate the sport, so that made me root for our heroes.

The movie was legit hilarious at times for me. One of my favorite scenes was the dance-off between Bulls and Horses. Those horses just cracked me up. XD

I had no idea John Cena voiced Ferdinand, he did a good job. All of the voice acting was fine. The animation was nice and fluid. It's Blue Sky Studios, so don't expect something on Pixar or Disney's level.

A good animated movie. Don't expect something outstanding or anything like that and I feel like you'll have a nice time. Give it a go. This being nominated for Best Animated Film makes more sense than The Boss Baby.

The Boss Baby (2017):
Took me a while to get used to Alec Baldwin's voice as a baby, felt too bizarre for first 20 mins or so. XD
If you accept the ridiculousness, it's an entertaining watch. Nothing special or great, but not bad either. Enjoyed the first half more than the second. Liked the animations style switch ups.

I just don't get how this got nominated and not The Lego Batman movie, or something else.

Great movie. Did not expect it to be this good. I guess I like such movies because of the tense setting. It had a 'Prisoners' kind of vibe. Not a big fan of Jeremy to be honest but I liked him in this one. Must watch.

THOR: RAGNAROK (2017)

Oh what a marvelous choices of music for Ragnarok. Electric, rocking, right in the feels. Old school keyboard tunes and Immigrant Song are just spot on for Thor, and boy did i fall in love with every second of it. MY OH MYYYYY ... HELA IS AMAAZINGGGG. What an impeccable Oscar worthy performance. Whoever designed that dress, RESPECT!!. Tessa Thompson is LOVE. -_-

Absolutely love the non stop crude humor. Matt Damon cameo was hilarious :D 'Rocks throwing at Loki' had me laughing hard every damn time. 'Nervous Dr Banners', 'Thor disguise', 'Thor getting hair cut', 'Skurge flirting', and of course 'Dr Strange meeting Thor'; There are many such reasons why I love Marvel movies. Finest entertainment is finest. This movie is bad ass over load. No joke. Fight scenes are spectacular. Feels are great. And little truth revelations are a bit jaw dropping. Sir Hopkins can shift his moods so flawlessly.

Taika Waititi has boggled my mind. Made me fall deeply in love with Thor Ragnarok. For a little over 2 hours, i was constantly smiling, clapping, and had my interest peaked. Not for a second I wanted it to stop. NO OTHER Marvel movie to date has ever done that to me. Thor Ragnarok is GOLD. And this is 10/10 in my books. Entertainment of a lifetime. Thank You Mr Waititi. Thank You, Sire.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
Review:
Well i have been waiting for this movie for ages now but finally saw it 2 days back when the print become available.
And i think in this kind of movie nobody really care much about the story but animations and scenes in this movie are really great. So if you are looking for a good story this one is not for you but if you are looking for a fun, if you are looking for Kevin Hart & Dwayne Johnson, if you are looking for some adventure, this one is surely for you. Well the story was predictable, the acting was not bad at all and overall this movie was a good one for me.

Marrowbone - 6/10
well I don't understand why they made it horror, it has already a good drama, and if there was no horror in the movie , it would have less distraction and more enjoyable

Darkest Hour (2017): "We have before us many, many long months of struggle and suffering. We will know many old and famous states have fallen into the grip of the Nazi rule. We shall defend our island whatever the cost may be! We shall fight on the beaches! We shall fight on the landing grounds! We shall fight in the fields and in the streets! We shall fight in the hills! We shall never surrender! For without victory, there can be no survival!"-Winston Churchill

As someone who loves reading and watching stuff about WW2, I was absolutely hooked on this film from start to finish. What an awesome watch. With the story limited to the early days of the war and the Dunkirk Situation, and not the later years and post-war time, it gave the film a proper sense of urgency, fear and weight. And that was further elevated by the execution of it all. The speeches, the meetings, the traveling, all of it had more energy and felt more dynamic then what you'd expect in a film like this. The cinematography (movie looked great), the editing, the use of music (beautiful score), all were utilized properly to achieve that goal. Props to Director Joe Wright (Atonement, Hanna).

Now, the film had great performances across the board, but of course, nothing could come close to the powerhouse depiction of Winston Churchill by Gary Oldman. He completely disappeared into the role (awesome prosthetic and makeup work too), kinda like how Daniel Day-Lewis did with Lincoln, and it was enthralling to see him just move around and talk eerily similar to Churchill, not to mention the speeches, which gave me goosebumps. A well deserved Oscar win for Best Actor.

The film did take some liberties to alter some historical facts or add some in order to create a more cinematic experience, but let's be honest, which historical movie doesn't do that to some extent?

All in all, a great Historical Biographical Drama about one of the most crucial moments in WW2. Seeing it happen from the top brass' POV was exhilarating. The tension, the weight, the fear, it was like I was with them. And having knowledge about the event just added to the experience. Gary Oldman's career-best performance. And one of the best if not the best depiction of Churchill (this and John Lithgow in The Crown are my favorites). One of the best films from 2017 for me. A must watch.

P.S This film acts a great companion piece for Christopher Nolan's 'Dunkirk'. This gives you insight into how things were going on the highest level of Government of UK, the whole war situation, the 'We Shall Never Surrender Speech' by Churchill etc. And then you jump right into Nolan's 'Dunkirk' and see what was it like from soldiers POV. A great combo. And somehow makes 'Dunkirk' better for me.

The Shape of Water (2017): Guillermo Del Toro surely knows how to make a BEAUTIFUL film. The Shape of Water is a fantasy romance drama set in the 1960s during the cold war and is about a mute woman who falls in love with an amphibious man.

From start to finish, Del Toro's imagination and his knack for the FEEL of fantasy reigns supreme. From the cinematography to the set designs to the lighting to the creature itself, the film looks absolutely stunning. It's simply gorgeous to look at. A treat for the eyes. And the beautiful score by Alexander complements all that, giving the story a fairy tale FEEL.

Some terrific performances in this tale. Michael Shannon, Octavia Spencer, Michael Stuhlbarg, Doug Jones (as the creature), Richard Jenkins, and of course Sally Hawkins all were at the top of their game. The standout for me was Sally Hawkins, though. The way she conveyed emotion without uttering a single word, it was amazing. I've seen her in other movies but here it felt like she was mute in reality as well, that's how good she was. Definitely deserved that Oscar Nomination.

Now, the film had some issues. The main relationship could have taken more time to set up in the lab instead of rushing it. Some characters and their plots felt like they got a bit too much screentime as opposed to trimming that and giving more to the main one. Michael Shannon as the Government Douche was a bit too apparent from the start and you don't really feel like his character goes anywhere, and it even becomes cheesy in the last act. Of course, the performances and the film's beauty reduces these blows.

All in all, if you want to watch a beautiful fantasy film, give this one a go. As for whether it deserved the Oscar for best picture or not...well...not in my opinion. From the nominated films, in my opinion, Three Billboards should have won. Of course, the actual movie that deserves it the most is Blade Runner 2049. :p

The Breadwinner (2017): "We must raise our hearts, not our voices. It is rain that makes the flowers grow, not thunder."
The Breadwinner is an animated film about a strong young girl in Taliban controlled Afghanistan where she had to disguise as a boy in order to provide for her family.

It's a powerful film, that tugs at your heartstrings with its subject matter. Beautifully animated and scored, the film has this quiet beauty about it. And while the voice acting could have been better, the overall simplistic delivery complemented the story and style of the film.

Seeing how harsh things can be for people in different parts of the world is always depressing, and this was no different. But at the same time, the movie had warmth as well.

As far as animated films go, this is probably my favorite from last year, after Coco. Definitely, give it a watch.

This movie was SUCH A BLAST! I honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did since I thought the humor would be too much. But Taika Watiti is awesome and sure knows how to inject humor.

The style of the movie was awesome. Loved the colors and that funky soundtrack.

KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE (2017)

"~ Delicioussss ..."

This is such a downgrade compared to first Kingsman. First half, Overkill. Extravagant CGI, Bonkers action pieces, no emotional connection, unconnected with everything; I watched all with such a disinterest. 2nd Half, though, a bit cooler. 'Mech Dogs', 'Briefcase shootout' a bit mesmerizing. And stereotypical Statesmen, lol. Jeff Bridges looks amazing without the beard lol. The outlandishly gorgeous looking bloke in bespoke suit, acting all British and sassy, Eggsy can never match the super awesomeness of Colin Firth, who was shamelessly put in the backseat. And whatever the f*ck was Mr Elton John's doing. Miss Poppy, the only redemption i loved to death. Satisfying end for her lol. Great acting.

This is still a stylish piece, action is amazingly well done, and characters are fun to watch. Too many f*cks are given by almost everyone. But, there is absolutely no chemistry whatsoever. Mark Strong and Halle Berry, such a waste of great talent. Interesting point, though. Let those druggies die and make the world a better place. I hate to say it but i kinda agree lol. 6/10 Just another example of wasted effort in sequels.

Saw "Tomb Raider" At cinestar IMAX tonight

Spoiler: show

so tbh i wasn't really hyped up for this, it came and i just went to see it, reviews coming out weren't that good either with IGN giving a measly 5.5 but i went in anyways as i don't care for reviews.

well this movie did not copy the entire game ditto to ditto but did took elements from it and some famous scenes from which were good to see on the big screen , they tried doing their own thing with the story etc and it worked to an extent, that said this movie almost broke the video game curse, yes almost.. its a good movie on its own just not great which it was suppose to be.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. Was hugely disappointed since I LOVED the first one. This just feels like a typical lower quality sequel. Some fun to be had for sure but nowhere near on the level of its predecessor.

Paddington 2...................(8.5/10) watched in Emirates flight, another heart warming sequel and I won't lie it left me teary eyed at the end. Perfect balance of humor and emotions!

Geostorm......................(7/10) watched in HD, well its a popcorn flick so nothing much was expected, the CGI was extremely bad and so was the acting, good for time pass only!
