RUMOR: Nightwing To Appear On ARROW Season 3

Steven R McQueen of CW's hit series The Vampire Diaries posted another picture on his Instagram hinting at being cast as Nightwing, but this time, less subtly. Take a look at the picture and judge for yourself.

For the past few months, ever since rumors first surfaced of Nightwing making an appearance on CW's Arrow series, Steven R McQueen of CW's The Vampire Diaries has been giving subtle hints at already being cast in the role. Although it could be more wishful thinking from the actor's perspective than anything concrete. In the past month however he has increased the 'easter eggs' on his Twitter account by retweeting Scott Snyder's Batman quotes and images, and by uploading images of DC Comic book titles. The latest image that caught fans attention was when on June 5th, 2014 he uploaded an image of himself with Arrow's lead actor Stephen Amell, at a LA Kings game with the subtitle "#arrow #nightwing #golakings".

      @steven_r_mcqueen: "#arrow #nightwing #golakings"

Again, this could be more wishful thinking by the young actor, as his schedule with The Vampire Diaries in New Orleans is quite overbooked as of yet. However, taking into consideration what had transpired in the season finale of Arrow, the concept of Nightwing coming to Starling City to face The League of Assassins and the return of Malcom Merilyn with Thea Queen has become a probable journey the writers could choose to take Oliver Queen in.

Actually some fans think Felicity and Oliver should get together but i think that would be too weird. They are a perfect team. Felicity is great but i dont think they would make a great couple.

So these are some of the latest pictures of Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen/Arrow).
Got it from his FB Page. We can now see the goatee he has been growing which kinda looks like the comics version of the Green Arrow.

‘Arrow’ Season 3 Plot Details & New Characters Revealed

[WARNING: This article contains POSSIBLE SPOILERS for Arrow.]-

The big news in terms of superhero shows on The CW seems to be focused more on The Flash than Arrow as critics and fans speculate whether the spinoff series will be as successful as its predecessor – fortunately for Flash fans, early reactions are exceptionally good. However, while many are focused on that show’s premiere, Arrow’s evolving story about the billionaire playboy-turned-hero Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) has been developing its third season, which includes casting new characters.

At the end of season 2, Arrow lost quite a few recurring characters: Moira Queen (Susanna Thompson), Sebastian Blood (Kevin Alejandro), and Isabel Rochev (Summer Glau) were killed; Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett) was locked up in an A.R.G.U.S. supermax; Sarah Lance (Caity Lotz) left with the rest of the League of Assassins; and Thea Queen (Willa Holland) left Starling City with her birth father, Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman).

Though some of these characters have the opportunity to return – and a high likeliness in the case of Thea whose situation may factor heavily into season 3 – their departures have opened up room for new characters, some of whom the show is currently casting.

TVLine is reporting that Arrow is currently looking to cast four new characters: two will appear in present-day Sterling City and two will be featured in Oliver’s flashbacks. The two new characters appearing in Sterling City are tentatively being called Daniel and Seth, though those may not be the actual character names, while the other two characters are named Toshi and Akiko.

Daniel is a twenty-something entrepreneur working with cutting-edge technology. Though he’s in the public eye, he harbors a tragic past that is a catalyst for him becoming a tech-powered superhero. Daniel is also poised to become Oliver’s rival and Felicity Smoak’s (Emily Bett Rickards) new love interest.

Seth is an educated criminal with a talent for chemistry who develops a drug that drains the willpower of his enemies. He could potentially be a recurring villain for season 3.

The new characters for Oliver’s Hong Kong flashbacks, Toshi and Akiko, are a married couple who become Oliver’s handlers in the city. Toshi is a skilled operative with knowledge of weaponry, combat, and intelligence gathering who will become Oliver’s friend and teacher. Akiko is also skilled in martial arts.

From the details in his character description, it sounds as though Daniel may become one of the main antagonists of the season – depending on how involved Malcolm Merlyn is this season. Daniel seems to have a complicated arc that takes him from civilian to superpowered, in addition to a well-developed back story to be explored. However, it’s unclear how villainous Daniel may be. Though he is described as Oliver’s rival, he could either become a villain or align himself with the Arrow and his team – or both.

Seth, on the other hand, is certainly a villain, though it’s difficult to determine whether he’ll be more of a one-off with the possibility to return, in the vein of The Count, or a more integrated antagonist like Sebastian Blood. Seth’s drug, though, may have a bigger impact on the season’s plot than himself. Between Vertigo and Mirakuru, Arrow has dealt with different mind and body-altering substances in past seasons, so Seth’s anti-willpower drug may follow in that tradition.

Less is known about Toshi and Akiko but their character descriptions hint at an overarching story of getting to know Oliver and becoming his mentors in Hong Kong. Since they are described as his handlers, they must be affiliated with A.R.G.U.S. in some way, which may factor into the conflict of the flashbacks in season 3.

Currently, nothing more is known about these characters and the fact that Daniel and Seth may not be those characters’ actual names points toward The CW and the show’s effort to keep as much about season 3 under wraps as possible. The true identities and names of Daniel and Seth may not be revealed until Arrow premieres in the fall.

What do you think of the new characters on Arrow?

‘Arrow’ Stunt Coordinator Talks Season 2 Fights & What to Expect from Season 3

[WARNING: SPOILERS ahead for the season 2 finale of Arrow.]

      -
Fans of superhero television have a lot to look forward to this year, as the fall of 2014 will bring us NBC’s Constantine, Fox’s Gotham, CW’s The Flash and the return of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. If that weren’t enough, Marvel’s Agent Carter will premiere in January 2015. However, this slate of comic book-inspired shows would arguably not be as expansive without the mega-success of the CW’s flagship superhero show, Arrow.

Season 2 of the ongoing saga of billionaire-turned-vigilante-turned-hero Oliver Queen culminated in a stellar finale, which succeeded in expanding on the themes of the show while providing the terrific level of spectacle fans have come to expect. Indeed, the action scenes designed by stunt coordinator JJ Makaro and fight coordinator James “Bam Bam” Bamford are a big reason Arrow has continued to enjoy its level of popularity.

From street-level brawling to the more elaborate martial-arts battles, Arrow‘s fight work is a model for how to update comic book action for today’s audiences while maintaining a certain level of the fantastic. Makaro recently spoke to EW about what went into planning Oliver’s epic, multi-layered showdown with Deathstroke, and what he has planned for season 3.

While the final fight was originally meant to be one battle, Makaro spoke about the decision to split it into flashbacks, saying:

And then I’m not sure who came up with the idea – I’m sure there’s four of us at least who want to take credit for it – but somebody said something along the lines of we thought it’d be really cool to do both fights at the same time and have somebody get punched and the person would end up landing in the other time zone.

Makaro also spoke about acknowledging certain aspects of the characters that fans want to see, especially for this big match-up. He went on to speak about staying attuned to Deathstroke’s point of view, saying:

You have a tendency, once you’re doing an action sequence, you’re always thinking about the hero and how the hero pulls it off and where they’re going with it all, but we needed to kind of have an approach where Deathstroke was, in his own way, a hero.

With the end of season 2 setting up a new chapter in Oliver’s backstory – finding himself in Hong Kong after escaping the island, and meeting Amanda Waller (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) – and recent casting and plot updates pointing toward a whole new realm of possibilities, Makaro had this to say on where the next season will be heading and what he’d like to do next:

Our fights are going to get better again because they always do. James [Bamford], we keep pushing him and we keep giving him stronger challenges. He’s right now in Asia learning some more fight moves, so he’s really moving forward with the fight work. Now that they’ve put us into Asia, hopefully we’ll be able to get in there and have a lot of fun doing those kinds of fights. But the other things that we’re trying to get out is I’ve always wanted to do a parkouring sequence through moving traffic. I’ve seen little bits of it. We dabbled with it in the previous season when we did the huge jump across the alley and then came down the fire escape and hopped on a car, and then we did a little parkour over some moving vehicles, but that’s something I’ve been hoping to do somewhere along the line. I keep watching for the opportunity for it. But of course, it’s as big and complicated as a lot of the things we’ve done already. I’m sure if we do do it, it will be a challenge.

Makaro went on to praise star Stephen Amell’s commitment to the heavy physicality of the stunt work, and the addition of parkour to his skill-set:

He just loved it so much, and he’s applied himself so well on it. He’s very good at it, and that’s part of the reason why I would like to keep going with it. [T]he last time we did it, he actually did a fair amount of the work himself, pretty much all of it. But it is complex to do, so I’m really hoping that we get a chance to try and do it.

To action fans, the thought of Oliver Queen parkouring his way through moving traffic on (perhaps) the streets of Hong Kong while fighting off the next round of bad guys is particularly exciting. The world of Arrow is rife with possibilities going into season 3, so expect a slew of new rivals and allies to show up, with the promise of James Bamford and JJ Makaro taking the action scenes and stunt work to a whole new level.
