Unhappy THQ CEO places doubt on PS3 price cut at E3

Are you expecting Sony to make the megaton announcement at E3? Y'know the one we're talking about. The price cut? Well, THQ doesn't share that vision.
At its investor call earlier today, THQ's Brian Farrell cast doubt on a PS3 price announcement at the annual trade show. "We're not expecting a price cut at E3, but we do expect one later in the year."

A price cut for the PS3 will help THQ's sales portfolio, which is still largely rooted in games for the "core gamer." PS3 software sales represented about 13% of THQ's revenue for fiscal 2009, an increase from 8% the year before

They'll need a huuuge price cut to get competitive again but can they afford to absorb the losses which will come as a result of the price cuts?

Perhaps Sony is holding back this announcement. Perhaps as a backup or something, in case MS gets away the winner at E3 again. Probably then Sony will try and counter with a drop in price.

Price cuts won't be coming soon. Alot of people are turning to the PS3 as it is, thanks to the shitty piece of engineering on the X360.

Hardware alone doesn't matter. Software does too. And yes, both irrespective of their qualities.

ROFLOL! In this time when Jaspers are out? you gotta be kidn' me.

If people are really moving towards PS3 as per your thoughts, its probably because of the "very good" titles which have started to come around the PS3 plus some killer ones which are expected to launch at this year's end...

The funny thing is that people were moving more towards the 360 when it was still very much prone to RROD (falcons lol) So you can throw the "shitty piece of hardware theory" out the window now :P

Tell that to my friend who is beating his head with a RROD'ed Jasper :P

These aren't my thoughts... these are some numbers given to me by a fellow friend who works at a shop where consoles sell the most. People are returning their X360 to buy a PS3..most of which have had hardware problems.

The number of failures might have decreased with the Jasper and all... but its about time right? :P Its ok to admit it even if youre the owner...I own one too.
