      Project NATAL...NEW MICROSOFT technology

guyz i just saw that live vdo on new MICROSOFT technology.

well in simple words.." a gaming without controllers" microsoft made the sensor motion detector which detect the whole body and its movements..so know the controllers are we ..wao,they showed some games in which the NATAL detects the whole body even sometimes uses real pics..

so one can play bowling, boxing, car racing, tennis ...etc by self movements.

to me its a further great step of WII but great.

i will update the thread when it will be available on other web,

it will connect on any X360..i wish it will be for PC too

Natal totally blew me off. I mean I know that the idea was taken from the Wii, blah blah but check out these features which are amazing:

      1. Full body motion sensing
      2. Voice recognition
      3. Dashboard control
      4. Other Interaction (playing movies etc.)

That's a lot of new stuff that is original, in my opinion this will be the highlight for the MS @ E3.

The idea of natal is not taken from Wii, it is taken from Playstation Eyetoy.

But I don't know what you guys found so impressive. Did you guys saw the character animation of the avatar when the project Natal guy was trying to show how the avatar moves as you do? It was jerky, inaccurate and awkward. I know the demo video looked good. But was that real-time? I don't think so.

As far as games on Natal are concerned, didn't you guys see the level of difference in what they showed in the video and what they showed on stage? The best they could do with it so far was a brick breaking game which looked from last gen.

But I have to agree that natal will extend life of 360. Normally we play games for a few hours at a time. With Natal you would have to be extremely fit to play the game for 5 consecutive minutes. A couple of hours rest after every five minutes of gameplay is all 360 needs to extend its life

Did you see that girl playing that brick breaking game? She was out of breath only after a couple of minutes. Can you imagine yourselves jumping up and down moving your limbs as lunatics for an hour or so?

There are also limitations to what they showed in the tech demo. Car driving will not be very accurate. That wheel changing gimmick looked really awkward to me. That fighting game looked good. But can you imagine yourself kicking so high in the air to pull off a high kick? Just imagine yourself pulling off some moves in games like Tekken :P

The one advantage that console owners claim over PC is that they could play from the comfort of their couch while PC owners have to sit in an upright position to use keyboard and mouse. How comfortable do you think all that jumping in front of Natal is?

I know it was jerky, but you have to keep in mind that this is still in the concept phase. They will have to do a lot of improvements at least on the full body motion sensing part.

Again, I'm sure MS are developing or in the development cycle for more NATAL based games. If I were MS, I wouldn't show off all my arsenal the first time.

That's a good thing, I mean even my wife was impressed. She wants the Natal as an exercise alternative. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one for the Wii fit or using game consoles for exercising, but hey if this can get my wife interested then i don't see a harm in that

Ofcourse, NATAL won't be life changing and I don't see gaming controllers going out of fashion any time soon; we are impressed because it looked good on the big screen. Fingers crossed.

well i think there is a very high potential for this technology and this tech aint taken from the eye this is a 3D camera with voice recognition and if you saw the part where they did the paint how fast it recognized his voice and brought the color up was amazing i mean he said the word and BOOM there was the color and this tech is WAY beyond what anyone has done yet the menu movements alone was pretty sweet and so far they showed a pretty accurate real life demo of the voice recognition and how accurately it can sense your movement only the avatar was jerky but if you saw any of the other parts like when she was playing her character was moving dead on with her movements which is VERY impressive at this time...

      and @Nomad

this is meant to get you off the couch its for ppl to have fun like the ppl who have grown up without having video game consoles if you read that stats about 60% of homes still dont have a video game system because ppl (older ppl) find the controller daunting and i know that my parents would have fun wtih natal since they can just do the movement to do the act rather than pressing b or some combo of buttons which they will be looking down at the controller to get so i think you need to understand who they made it for and why they made it... with the updates they have done they are trying to get other age groups since a large number of actual gamers already have the 360 or a wii or a ps3 or all 3 (like me )

The point is not its smooth execution TODAY and neither the technology is mind blowing. It's a blend of wiimote and Eyetoy, you may argue, but what makes it frigging revolutionary is the realization of an idea that's just mind blowing.

      Absolutely totally agreed .

While Project Natal may seem something unique and new , it's infact not that much of a use . IMO , more like a gimmick . Let's see , even someone who loves this thing will get tired to it after a shot time usage . Why ?

Because most of us are hardcore gamers , who need precision and accuracy over the controls . Natal was highly inaccurate and unprecise .

At the end , let's see what they make of this tech , so far for me , it's simply a gimmick .

Nothing to get excited over .

Most of the world are not hardcore gamers , sales of the wii proves that.

I'm pretty sure this will be under the 100$ mark and it'll sell like hot cakes.
