      The new DirectX extension DX11.1

      Microsoft is releasing new directx with windows 8

      Here are its features Direct3D 11.1 Features

      GPU-Z of 670 680 showing that they support DX11.1


      But will all gpus get it or it need some special hardware like dx10 gpus cannot support dx10.1

      because GTX400 and 500 series not showing dx11.1 in their gpu-z

      its not going to be a vry big change...
      most of the games are still using dx 9 and dx10 features..
      soo even if u get dx11 or 11.1 there is no such difference at the end of the day..
      ur games should be up and running

      From what I've heard, DX11.1 has basically added a bit better support for Windows 8. In other words, from Nvidias side of things, they've cleared the compatibility issue with the new windows.

      A simple explanation for No techie gamers.

      If a software needs very small change, mostly bug fixes and slight improvement in code its always iterated in X.xx but if there is new feature set with a large upgrade its always X which is changed like DX9, DX10 etc.

      In this case its minor change so nothing to worry about.

      u r talking like there are tons of dx11 games. There are few games which use dx11. Even they did not offer big visual difference over dx10

      there are not much dx11 titles...out there.
      and even if they are ...its not big deal...
      u are not missing out on much things..
      and we know this is a minor update for the next generation of windows.

      Sorry but dx10 card cannot support dx10.1 . For example u cant enable 10.1 in hawx on gtx295 but it can b done on gt220 which is dx10.1though there were very few dx10.1 games
