What a Fail list!....It doesn't even include The almighty 8800GT and the FX 5200!...They are rather focusing more on the fastest GPUs in their respective Eras.

Can you remember the graphics engines we consider worthy of commemoration as the title holders of their time? We thought it would be fun to walk down memory lane and recount the most powerful GPUs. We'll start back in 1996 with a single pixel pipeline and make our way to the present day with modern monsters capable of handling over 3000 pixel shader operations per clock!
They were looking for most powerful, rather than basing their choices on price/performance.

The 7950gx2 and the 4870x2 are the only cards that can be called "greatest"

Riva TNT should have been an honorable mention.

      9800gx2 is a fail.

      Single 4870 is enough.

      Where is 8800 Ultra? :s

6800 Ultra is the right choice Best card of that era.

They should've added 7900GTX instead of 7800GTX. But, hell yeah 3870 x2 was great though.

errr... i dont think so. The 8800gt was never the fastest card in the market (the 8800gtx was), unless you talk about price/ performance.

ultra (8800ultra) IIRC was a limited release card

I think the writers had this similar discussion before deciding which cards to put in the list. ha
