Introduction:
OCZ has been around for almost a decade now. They started off with memory products and explored many other territories too. After many ups and downs around a year ago they took a leave from memory business and now the only deal in power supplies and solid state drives; later one being the main focus.
Right now, OCZ is one of the big players in the SSD market. They always have the urge to have full control over the controller used in their SSDs. This urge led them to buy complete inventory of Indilinx and then SandForce a couple of years back but that was a temporary solution. To satisfy their urge now and forever, they took over Indilinx almost an year ago. Ever since the acquisition of Indilinx, there had been rumours that OCZ is working on an in-house controller for their upcoming SSDs. In-house controllers brings in a lot of advantages. To begin with it means low end cost along with full control over firmware and ability to fix any controller related issues quickly.
