Post Connecting wires at the correct places of mobo. please help!

      hi,

I just got a PC built by one of my friends who assembled it. But I have doubts that he could not properly connect the wires of my PC Casing which is Cooler Master HAF 932 with my PC motherboard which is Asus P8Z68 DELUXE. Also I think that he connected the wires of my Sata 6 GB WD hard drive and my DVDRW wire with my PC motherboard at the wrong places. I am posting the links of the pics where I have mentioned where the wires are attached currently. Kindly examine and guide me.

PS: When my PC boots up there comes the message "No physical drive detected". Kindly inform me what to do.

Optical drive should be connected to SATA-2 port. If Hard Disk isn't SATA-3 then connect it to that SATA-2 port.

      SATA-2: 3Gbps.

      SATA-3: 6Gbps.

Ok I will connect the optical drive at the sata 2 port. Hard disk is sata 3. Its already connected there. The image I have posted shows which slots are sate 2 and which are sata 3. One more thing is where should I connect my casing's red wire? Kindly inform. Thanks

I don't know what that Red wire is for. If its eSATA then connect it to the SATA-2 port.

Edit: It actually is eSATA cable. Just connect it to the SATA-2 port.

Are you sure it is eSATA cable because the link you gave me is of HAF Black edition casing while I have HAF 932 casing, below is its link.

Yea he's right about the eSata thing. Personally if you don't have any eSata drives or devices then there's no need to connect it.

Secondly, the Z68 chipset support's four (Sata2) port's and two (Sata3) port's giving a total of 6 Sata port's. The other two (Sata3) port's are of an external controller. What's recommended is to first use the Sata ports of the Z68 chipset itself as the performance would be better and then later on if they're filled up, only then move to the external controller's ports.

      How to identify them?
-The four (light-blue) and two (white) Sata port's belong to the Z68 Chipset. The dark-blue ones are of the external controller.
      -The blue ones are Sata2
      -The white ones are Sata3

Connect the DVD-Rom also to the Sata2 port of the Z68 Chipset.

may be a little off topic... but SATA 3 are backward compatible... i have connected my two hard drives(SATA 2) with SATA 3 ports on the DH67BL motherboard and they work without any issue... even SATA 3 devices will work on SATA 2ports but with reduced performance
