Ivy is a better option if u are looking for clock to clock performance..
but if u wanna do some serious overclocking then its better to stick with the i2500k coz its a monster when u overclock that beast with a good cooler..
so the choice still comes upto u..

seems interesting, lets see if someone can confirm this over clocking on stock cooling... yes the optimization is the main reason im considering ivy bridge.

lets make things a little more clear. my budget permits me to get n ivy i5 with stock cooling lets say i oc it to abt 4ghz maybe more (stable) or i get a used sandy i5 with a cooler and oc to say somewhere near 5ghz. which will deliver better performance?
The Ivy will. The 3570K at stock outperforms a 2600K. So at 4 GHz you can do the math. Don't go for clock speeds you will be mis lead in this game.

That's a wrong generalization. The 2600k will surely outperform the 3570k clock to clock in any application that makes use of the extra threads.

      Nope there isnt one

Ivy Bridge is Faster Clock for Clock and consumes Less Power
Overclocking it is an entirely different matter
Its temperatures shoot up significantly with moderate increase in voltage

Sandy Bridge is a proven Overclocker and will cross 4.5Ghz towards 5Ghz on Budget Coolers easily

So far @Ali Man has bought an i5 3570k and he is claiming the same thing
More info about its Overclocking potential will be available after a few more members have bought it

Tu ne bhe pee wi hai -____________- Will provide you benchmarks to prove my claim. Not fabricating this myself.

      The 3rd Generation i5 3570K outperforms a 2nd Generation 2600K just like the 2nd Gen 2500K out performs a 1st gen i7 920. Why does it seem a bad idea?

Nevertheless thanks to Intel using 'thermal paste' inside the heat spreader on top the CPU instead of the solder flux is causing the heat issue as the 3d Tri gate technology may be better and more efficient at 22nm but needs the heat to be dissipated at a faster rate hence causing higher temps as compared to a sandy chip at 4.5+ GHz.

@Spyder Can u honestly find a Benchmark against this claim? -.-

What kind of comparison is this?

There is an Architecture Jump between i7 920 and i5 2500K
But i5 3570k IS NOT an Architecture Jump from i7 2600K

And I retract my claim of the 2600K being slower as the benchies where I checked last time have been updated.
