My laptop's Hard disk with new one..(250gb to 500gb)

My laptop (Dell Core i3 - N5010) came with a 250gb Hitachi SATA harddisk (5400rpm i think). I need a bigger Hard disk (500gb atleast).

Willing to exchange (or sell my hard disk first). Also, I'll need to know how to preserve my data (and transfer it to the new harddisk). I have not opened the laptop so can't give its pic.. I can provide pics of the laptop.. and I can run any diagnostic you guys want and post its pic (no bad sectors etc etc)..

I am not sure of a price for exchange.. the new 500gb toshiba hard disk at Galaxy is for 5000!!
