      Thumbs up PTCL modem password.

Today I noticed that my modem has actually a wifi. Its model is ZTE ZXDSL 831CII. It has logo on ptcl on it. It shows PTCL-BB as wifi connection. When I try to connect it requests password which I dont have. It also says that you can connect by pushing a button on router. (it doesnt have any besides reset). Also by going through 192.168.1.1 there is no configuration for wifi.

try entering the last 8 digits of the MAC Address, that's set by default (on the bottom of the modem/router). BTW Your modem isn't a Wi-Fi modem. it's only ethernet. I used to have it.

      EDIT: WTF I checked ZXDSL 831CII ISN'T A WIFI MODEM. It's probably your neighbor's Wi-Fi.

Thanks bro that actually worked. But the net worked for a bit and then goes off. I thought it was IP problem so I reset the modem & now its asking me password again. Also this is very weird that it has inbuilt wifi as zte official website has no mention also i searched thorugh different websites and there is no mention that modem has wi-fi.

@delfunky! Are you sure you are giving us the Correct Model number? Because this specific model of ZTE modem doesn't have any WiFi.

Most WiFi modems of such class (cheap i mean) DO have an Antenna for Wireless. Your modem dont have any.

EDIT: Even if it has a WiFi settings, then Password (Security Key) can be obtained from Wireless Settings inside Modem Configuration page.

Take a picture of your modem and post it here. Does it have an antenna? What does it look like? PTCL-BB must be your neighbors Wi-Fi.
