      What is the best modem provided by ptcl? Will i be able to choose the modem of my choice when i order ptcl dsl?

      the best one is huwae smartAX mt880,no u cant order the modem with your choice but u can ask them its up to them,btw any huawei modem is good as mt880 ask them to install huawei modem.shiro is the worst.

      Get any modem that has a broadcom chipset.

      And yet it's probably true. The problem isn't the modem. It's the poor state of PTCL phone lines.

      BTW how is he going to ask for a huawei modem? I doubt the OP or anyone at PTCL knows how to pronounce huawei

      No, a Modem has much to do with how a line state is handled. Even if you have marginal line, a Broadcom chipset will perform better than an Atheros chip.

      The ZTE ZX DSL 831 probably one, I can't say about the rest. It can be found in the env config of a modem.
