noob mom - CFW update?

Hi, I have a psp 2000 - slim. Its current firmware is 5.50 GEN-D (full). I usually buy or download ISOz. So I understand from this link
that the new firmware is released. So should I do this, or is my current firmware ok for the ISOz I download. As Im a mom of a toddler, I dont get a lot of time to play, but I try to keep upto date with my fav. games such as MGS, Syphon Filter, God of war etc. So if someone can please guide me a little, I would be really grateful. Thanks
