Dark Escape 4D is Coming to the United States

Namco-Bandai's super scary looking arcade shooter that rewards the braver players among us will get a release stateside.

Dark Escape 4D will reach arcades in the United States, according to Arcade Heroes. Namco Bandai announced the game's pending US release by releasing a new trailer that reveals some new details about the 3D sensory horror shooter.




The game pits two players against each other in a dark and sinister looking horror style shooter, but the true winner isn't the person who scores the most hits or blows away the most monsters. The game can also monitor players' heart rates and the number of times they jump or panic through the game. The person with the fewest panics wins the round.

The experience takes place in a fully enclosed booth. Players don a pair of 3D glasses as they shoot at the things that jump at them on the screen. The game consists of four stages, each based on a different phobia, and a super secret (and presumably super scary) final stage. Speakers are placed throughout the booth to simulate the experience of monsters, ghouls and zombies coming at them from all angles. Fans blast cool air on the players' necks to get them to jump. The seats can vibrate to shock the players' senses as they try to control their emotions.
Namco Bandai didn't specify a release date except that it will hit arcades in the US by the end of this year.
