I got what you meant, but you're still wrong. The thing is that, no one likes studying to either earn degrees or do master's or even go to college. People may be literate till an extent, but in the end, that's not how the world work's. Without a degree or even a college diploma, you basically have no résumé and without that, employer's wont give even two shits to hire you (This is actually the real world). This is something everyone has to do to prove their worth.

Always go with the fact that, "You have to work hard to become something in life". Degrees surely do payoff the tuition money which made you get a degree in the first place, because now, you can easily find a job.

Using the same money and doing any business (as you mentioned), what makes you even think that the business would even work? All I know for sure is that without education, a person is nothing in life (but just another person who always then regrets it in the end) and yes, I've seen people doing that more than enough to know, and for not even thinking twice to agree with you.

While your earlier posts had some good points. I strongly disagree with this assumption.

The Most Advanced/ Technologically and economically strong nations like US, Japan and Germany have the world's largest number of Degree Holders like PhD and other Technical education ( Hundred times more than what we have in Pakistan). While i agree that getting a degree from abroad doesn't guarantee you a Six figure Job here ( or even abroad) but Education doesn't mean making millions only. The most civilised and respected countries in the world are the one with high literacy levels of ( Higher) education ( Srilanka has a 90% Literacy rate but is very low in High degree education)

Here is a good link to see a comparison regarding literacy levels, economic indicators etc

      https://www.cia.gov/library/publicat...k/geos/pk.html

While i am all out for innovative thinking and Entrepreneurship , it should not undermine the value of higher education.

I'll put it this way. Even if I had to gain education and it didn't pay back the tuition fees, I'd still prefer being educated and have a lowly earned job than open a poultry farm and live an uneducated life.

And lets not forget, wether you are a degree holder or not or a farm owner or not, the only thing that will ever get you anywhere in life is hard work. You work hard and dedicate yourself to a job and you'll get returns. Thats just my opinion on the matter.

      @crash

I get your point, but I think if you go abroad for one of those useless degrees and THEN actually work hard you will get somewhere in a few years, no? You have your own business so like my father (who has a business too) you are off the opinion opening a business is always better. And to that end I agree with you, but I think its all a matter of circumstances, wether you had the qualifications/hard work to actualy work and save money for a business, how skilled you are, wether you're willing to sacrifice the benefits of a job for the risk (and potential gains ofcourse) of starting a business etc (which is my short-coming when it comes to businesses).

Well--@OP, your assumptions are terribly flawed. The very first thing that you have to keep in mind is that NO ONE SPENDS money on having education in abroad. They are either reliant on loans or are having some sort of scholarships. If you are talking about those who are THEMSELVES paying for their education abroad are filthy rich people(you might agree that $60,000 a year is not what mediocre can pay for his/her education) and your point of starting entrepreneurship does not hold true for them as they already have hefty bank accounts.
Secondly, keep in mind we live in Pakistan where people are very very hesitant to make an investment on any XYZ. We are not living in America where people DO show interest in making investments if you have some nice idea and have passion to fulfill that(I myself know people over there who have ideas and they implement them with the help of multitude of investment resources in America). Obviously, you can not expect this in a country where GDP is one of the lowest in the world with growth stagnant at 2%. So in the end all we have are DEGREES and I won't be insistent on saying that a good degree from good university will land you a very good job but it does NOT mean that having none will make you a billionaire. Again, I do not want to talk about exceptions(you might argue about Bahria Town magnate Malik Riaz who once did not have thrifty to pay for rikshaw rent and look where he is now) or some anecdotal evidence.

CONCLUSION: Good degrees from good institutes are still the ones you can bank on to make some good survival!
      Just for Reference:
      Larry Page(GOOGLE) - Stanford EE
      Bill Gates --Harvard drop-out
      Mark Zuckerberg -- Harvard
      Steve Jobs - Stanford

So great entrepreneurs also came from even greater institutes!

@OP: online making money topics are not allowed unless you take permission first and tell us your exact idea, I don't really appreciate "join me and I will do that" kind of stuff, if you can do it then show a practical example of your own to prove your ideology.

@crash: make another topic on useless degrees debate.

      Thanks,
