      About Hardware Prices on PG

PG is great market place for Pakistani buyers and Sellers. But for last some months I am seeing a new problem or more politely saying issue.

      1. Premium Sellers vs Market Prices

This is a serious concern for all PG members specially buyers who rely on shipping and indirect dealing. The fact that most of the stuff is imported and there is actually no proof of at what price it should be sold. I would suggest a Pricing System on PG where buyers can make sure they are paying the right price and not being ripped off.

      2. Members Claiming the real Prices in Market

This is rather interesting, many members on PG are claiming that the real prices of hardware (LCDs?) is far less in the market than being sold on PG by Premium and Regular sellers alike. But so far there has been no proof by anyone and all of them fail to justify the source. I would suggest all concerned members to tell their source and place so that people who bought on PG shouldn't go through agony of being ripped off.

      3. People who can afford high end stuff

Everyone knows who am I talking about. Many members are mashallah able to afford costly hardware, but what I am seeing now is they buy hardware from PG (See Point 2) and then come whining about that the real prices aren't these or they have been ripped off. I don't understand, If they can afford new hardware (Costly GPUs? and LCDs?) Than what makes them buy from rip off when they know the actual prices. This point needs to be clarified.

      4. Brutal Opinions and Senseless discussions

Those who claim the real prices have virtually no proof and yet forums are full of stories and experiences. If one out of 10 buyers have a problem with something they bought, they literally make other people's live a living hell buy telling stories etc and any one who reads them can't stop worrying about their own hardware for days.

Common sense is totally missing from PG I must say. You are buying at your own risk, you know the product is not new, you deal with seller or buyer taking all constraints into account and than you come whining about prices. Either take responsibility for your deals or simply STFU [Sorry for being rude]. People have more problems in their lives than starting to worry about non existent issues just because someone decided to take a look at forums, we are already very depressed nation and in agony due to loadshedding.

I need a solid feedback on this from Mods as well as fellow members. Remember this thread is no place for stories.

Prices at PG have always been better than at the market. But the people here are not the rip-offs, the people in the market are! Take galaxy for example, they give you ridiculously low prices for hardware you sell to them and then sell it in their Old section online for prices 10-20% lower than the market price. YES you'd pay more than the market here but I think:

      1) Its not a significant rise in prices.
      2) When you sell your stuff, you benefit in the same way.
      3) You can be sure the product is okay due to the trader score system.

Also products that are being sold on a wide scale, ipods, iphones, cell phones, various hardware... Their sellers can't rip off people since others are selling them too, so you can say the number of sellers keep prices in check automatically? As for the one off items that pop up every now and then, you are right about it, but then why shouldn't someone benefit from selling a unique item? Besides, nobody is forcing anyone to buy from them, you can always check the market prices and decide for yourself. Its not ripping off if you buy something at a high price willingly, or is it?

EDIT: Completely agreed on Point 4, but I don't see how that can be helped? Misunderstandings do come up, and most members take it too far. But then if the admins simply start locking senseless things it will just aggravate the issue.

I find the prices very reasonable on PG. I have been to the local market quite often to buy one thing or the other and I do inquire prices of different things and than compare them with those being quoted by the PG guys here. I myself have been selling my used items here and always quoted a price taq lower than market. For example, I am selling a processor @ 9K which is being sold by Galaxy @ 12.5K in the used section. Similarly I am selling a mobo @ 2800 which is being sold by them @ 3600.

Sometime it happens that new members do quote high prices but soon they come to know that finding fools on PG is not an easy task. Regarding premium sellers, I personally never had any bad deal but I heard they do not provide usually what they mention. In fact, premium sellers do have items in quantity. They portray their best item while making a thread but they have to sell 100s of others in their stock. So sometime you do not get what you had expected.

      1. Premium Sellers vs Market Prices

      [/QUOTE]

Almost all items and merchandise being sold through Premium Sellers gets scrutinized and evaluated by everyone. Every time a premium member sells an item here, it gets scanned, checked and compared with the rest of the market price and you'll see people bringing it up every now and then.

Premium Sellers aren't outright looting people here, they are premium for a reason and there can only be a handful of scenarios and cases where they can be accused of any botched trading.

No one's daft enough to outright pay more for something they can get cheaper in the market.

Galaxy, Vmart, Iamextreme, ShopHive, CZone and such sites are a good comparison with whats being sold at what price where.

Any member claiming crap and announcing their claim that they have seen any such product at way lower price in the market are just plain nuisance and just want to be part of the conversation.

Yes, their juvenile and inconsiderate behavior is appalling, but we can't force opinion regulation on people.

PLUS, You should look at all the NBA threads, I've yet to see anyone get dazed and confused over market pricing and online pricing.

I'm using online pricing here as a benchmark because its something factual. perhaps the only factual measurement and comparison we have.

That's because we're all on a mission to help, advise and force people into believing that I AM RIGHT, I KNOW EVERYTHING.

Its all about preferences, fanboy-ism, hatred and hardcore loyalty.

If anyone had a bad experience with a person or a deal went bad or the product was faulty, that person naturally makes it his mission to ruin the person, the product and the general market place with his sob stories and feels like he's the dark knight who has to save people from some absent evil.

So it turns out that we are dealing with two kinds of opinios. One is proving that a person knows more than anyone and other is who likes to share knowledge.

About last paragraph in above post. It can be assumed as lack of maturity. If you buy a car from someone and then damage it somehow you don't go after previous owner saying its their fault. Same is the case with Electronics, you simply can't tell when a product will go bad and usually seller doesn't know if something is inherently faulty.

I normally compare prices with international sites than add shipping to it and take an average to judge the quality and pricing. Yes there is always risk in buying used items. But equal risk also exist in buying new, difference is only warranty.

And that behavior can be seen EVERYWHERE.

Tell me, ever had flue, how does it fell when everyone gives you advice on the most redundant, obvious thing you've dealt with all your life?

      Let everyone have an opinion.

Members should not fear expressing their opinion here. This will be enforced

Not lack of maturity but lack of social literacy in most cases.

Considering the majority of PakGamers are under 20, I'd say its normal, such behavior is to be expected and accepted.

But that does not mean we have a kindergarten here.

We simply cannot prosecute or discipline people if they're whining.

As for the faulty products are concerned, well such cases do get special attention and the matter is justly resolved.

Just don't compare the price with international specially with US websites, every country have its own custom regulations and shipping costings. For example I never find anything with a US price in UK, there's always a price difference. Anyway Blastwave has said everything
