Last year, PakGamers launched its online store with plenty of stuff that can be ordered right from your home and delivered to it. After looking at the activity in the market place, we realized that a store needs to be established on permanent basis where we can provide the essentials of gaming and geeks needs at the best possible prices. However, some folks complained that there wasn't a significant amount of stuff on it. Of course, we were just starting at that time and the inventory builds up gradually.
Now we feel that PG store is at a stage where it can grow much more rapidly as more items are being added every month. What we realize now is that the PG store needs its own team to look after and cater for the needs of the gamers. Considering that, we're gonna be making certain changes around here. First of all, the perpetual services and mini shops that are so popular in the PG marketplace need to be merged with the main store. Managing that from a thread is a considerable chore and since we have the PG store application fully capable of such actions, I think it is only right to use it for any kind of persistent stores or sales threads.
To take this initiative, we got in touch with the #1 trader in our marketplace, amaga (AKA Usman bhai) and we're now setting up a system which will allow him to carry out his activities through the PG store interface. Since this will the first step, we'll work out a standard pattern with him and see how more traders can be made a part of PG store. In short, PG store will transform into a PG mall where the traders will be carrying out their services through its interface. However, this will happen in the near future. At the moment, we're going into beta with this system and hopefully, we'll be able to provide a much larger set of gaming and tech equipments.
The inclusion of amaga into the PG store team will allow us to cater to the Playstation3 owners crowd specifically considering that providing PS3 titles at nominal rates is amaga's specialty. Also amaga is known to get certain hard to acquire accessories for the PS3 and Xbox360 and hopefully we'll be adding those to our inventory soon.
So within a week or so, we'll be locking/removing the "mini-store" -esque threads. Our traders with good enough reputation will be allowed to follow into amaga's footsteps and a become a part of PG Store Team. This thread is basically meant to be a heads up and to get a feedback from PGers regarding this step. Do note that it's the community that builds PG and becomes a part of its management. They didn't hire me, jshak, radd or Chandoo or USUF, etc. We got active, involved and are now working for its betterment. And that's probably how we'll be expanding.
