      Thats just sick. Thanks for the heads up. I would now rather put my HDD in an external case and use rather then selling.

      My Professor told me once, there is some device available in the market( dont know wts its name) that is used to format a hard disk completely like its new one just came from the company...that should be used before selling hard disk to anyone...

      Well, you guys can actually catch those guys with their very own trick, offer HDDs for sale on the websites reported, and find a suspicious person, and get in contact with him/her. Not as easy as it sounds, but can be tried.

      Shocking, to say the least. Appreciate the heads up Jshak.

      However there are a few measures that can be taken to ensure this doesnt happen:
      1. Low-level format, makes previously written data on the HDD irrecoverable.
      2. Norton and Acronis have tools which destroy the data on a drive, there's also a military-grade file shredder built-in.
      3. If its a small drive, write something else like movies or something on the file which would over-write and thus render the previously-written data useless.

      Same Goes for MOBILE SD CARDS it can also be Restored
      same Goes for USB sticks
      and SAME GOES for MOBILE PHONE MEMORY

      The Images Can be Restored this happend with me when my card got Corupt so i searched a software it restored my files as well and the also the files that the PREVIOUS mobile OWNER HAS it i didnt miss use it i just delete that and restored mine only

      So BeAware when buying / selling MEMORY STICKS/ SD MEMORY CARDS / CELL PHONES
