      indian computer imports to Pakistan

I was on the internet the other day and read that we will give india MFN (most favoured nation) by the end of this year. We are already importing
some stuff from india, so why not computer parts.

I looked at some websites (similar to our galaxy.com and czone) and I saw that they do have some stuff that we do not have in Pakistan.

      Indian computer websites:
      TheITwares Ecommerce
      SMC international

Even adjusted for inflation some of the prices on these parts are very economical.
At a glance you can tell that we don't have the following brands at all in Pakistan:

      zotac gpu's
      Lian li casing
      NZXT casing
      amd mobo and processors
      jetway mobo
      seasonic ps
      tagan ps
      glacial tech ps
      alienware monitor

More competition for the computer business here but the consumers (i.e we) will be the winners in the end, because we will have more brands to choose from??

Should we import computer hardware from India...???

In plain terms MFN Status means k we will trade with you whatever we trade with the rest of the world, no bias favorable or unfavorable.

As far as trading is concerned, there're several other items including foodstock etc that are high on TDAP list for imports/exports with India.

It will be a very positive step imo, and if history is somethng to go by, +ve relations with india mean improvement in local business situation.

the only thing that cn ruin it is the upcoming budget!!

      got m fingers crossed tho

Exactly, why import stuff from india when we can get it cheaper through the main sources instead, if we're importing local indian based stuff than thats a different story.

Brief overview on Pakistani rupee depreciation:
Our rupee depreciated due to structural problems and Balance of payment as our foreign reserves fell to 2 billion dollars in 2008.

However by feb 2011 the forex reserves had rebounded and stood at 17 billion. We are keeping our exchange rate at its current point to influence greater returns on pakistani exports. Japan, brazil tried to do the same thing in 2010. The current currency rate (for foreign countries) lowers the prices of our exporting goods for other countries while raising the price of imported goods for us in the local economy.

Lately though the rupee is under pressure from other forces as well namely the account deficit. Due to this various imports have increased cost of production. Fuel and fertilizers prices have also increased which have caused problems for agriculture sector. Our import bills have also increased as well. For more details see the source section below.

However this is a thread on what we as Pakistani's can gain from exporting cheap computer hardware into our country. We should be able to get cheap computer hardware from whichever country that can supply us.
