how to play tomb raider 1 on windows xp

i extracted (installed) tomb raider 1 on windows xp but it is not runnig and this message (popup) appears:

"16-bit MS-DOS"

now what can i do?

Just right click on exe --->Proprieties---->Compatibility--->



If this didnt work try run in 256 colors.....

i checked evry step in compatibility mode like "run in 98/NT" , "256 colors" etc but it doesn't work and same message appears "16-bit MS-DOS"

Have you tried installing DosBox ( emulates an Intel x86 PC) because i remember i downloaded some old dos games and i was not able to play using win xp cmd or any other compatibility settings for win xp or anything so i use dosbox and i was able to play old games so try running tomb raider 1 on dosbox it should work.

Now what do you need to play Tomb Raider 1? Why dont you install windows 98 also! Keeping XP also!

a lot of really old games don't work even with the compat option on, google phrases like "tomb raider 1 on XP" or something, you just might find a patch or two.
