With every DCP (Digital Cinema Package) which is the digital encrypted movie which is ingested into the play back system (Doremi, Kristie etc) there comes technical specifications for the movie like a framing chart, foot Lambert settings and other stuff.

In order to get the best experience the projector needs to be set accordingly as per specific movie. We at Atrium have started the practise and results are amazing. As far as I know rest of the theatre people setup their projector and let it go because its tedious to set things up and if you make a mistake you are screwed.

While on the topic we (Mandviwalla Entertainment) have the only two "Level 1 certified technical and installation engineers" from Kinoton GmbH (Munich German) in Pakistan. Kinoton and Barco certification are accepted by each other as Kinoton mostly uses Barco technologies wight their own tweaks. I was one of the two personal who went to Munich Germany for training in Jan 2012 and Masha Allah cleared their test and certification. This level of commitment should tell you how much Mandviwalla Entertainment is committed to the industry.

We are working on a project in Islamabad too which will be launched this year Insha Allah.

EDIT: On topic of Avengers, shows were marked as sold out as most of them were sold in advance to corporate entities. In coming week we have included a special 2D show for those who find watching a movie in 3D to be uncomfortable.

Will there be a show of Avengers in 2D in CINEMA 'D' anytime in the near future? You know, bigger screen and all.

Yes i am Head Of Information Technology And Projection for Mandviwalla Entertainment. We are running Avengers 2D in Cinema A, I don't think it would run in Cinema-D. CineStar i will have to confirm, they are operating Barco that's for sure whether they have 2k or 4k that i don't know, In fact almost all the 3D Cinemas in Pakistan are running Barco's.

Our Cinema-D seating capacity will increase from 316 to 325 later this month.

maybe they sold their old projector to The Arena (a new 3D cinema in RWP) and later bought the Sony, cuz they advertised it all over their site that they have the only Sony 4k projector in Pakistan!!

I don't see it on their website and by the way when it comes to professional projectors for cinemas, Sony doesnt come in the top three, top three cinema projectors are Barco, Kinoton and Christie, I am not really sure why do you think DHA is operating sony.

As far as i know all the digital projectors in Pakistan right now are Barco, Christie is trying very hard to penetrate the market and so is Kinoton, Although Kinoton has been old in business here in form of their 35mm projectors.

At Atrium we have three cinemas, Cinema A (Seating 154) and Cinema B (Seating 176) are both 2D Cinema running 35mm prints, Our Cinema D (D for Digital, Seating capacity 316 upgrading to 325) can run both 35mm and is primarily used to run Digital 2D and 3D titles.

I can't say about DHA but from business point of view it would not make sense to run 2D version there since they only have one screen, when you have multiple screens than you can strategically place both 2D and 3D versions of the same movie. A 3D ticket = 500 while a 2D ticket = 300 (In case of Cinema D its 400)

So 316x500 vs 316x400 for the same show? also do keep in mind that for 3D movie theater also makes money on selling 3D glasses If their Digital projector faces a break down than they will have to revert to their Kinoton 35mm projector and yeah than you have much brighter chance of watching Avenger in 2D

And as far as being a movie and games buff is concerned you bet, My office rig is Core i7 with 16gigs RAM and trust me its not only there to render Adobe Premiere or encoding DCP's

The following is one of the most "big sigh of relief" moment of my life, After the training if you don't clear the test you don't get the cert and have to apply for training again :P

The following picture is taken at Kinoton Gmbh's Head Office in Munich Germany, it's an actual Oscar given to them for their work in Cinema Industry.
