Yar the naming conventions are like BS(CS), BS(SE), BCS etc. That is confusing. Thanks to HEC for doing nothing in terms of standardization.
Its the course outline that should be considered. Any degree, which deals with software design as well as development should be preferred to anything else.
As far as institutes are concerned, NUCES is second to none.
Moreover, when you choose a career, dont decide on basis of observation what others are earning. Job market is highly dynamic. Just concentrate on achieving quality in whatever you do.
Several Pakistanis are working for Fortune 100 companies like Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Google etc. They get at least US$ 10,000 per month. This doesnt mean that everyone should start studying computers. You should do what you like the most. Even if its arts.

As far as the future of computer sciences is concerned, where there is automation, there is a computer (or computer based system) and where there is such a system, there is a computer professional. A computer professional never sleeps hungry

Computer engineering is mainly focus on understanding of Computer Systems & designing/programming of Computer Hardware (Motherboards/CPU/other computer parts) and Software engineering is different.

If he did Computer Engineering (compared to Comp Science), he would've got BE.

Btw, what field in computers is the 1.6 lac guy working?
I forgot, i know he is engenieer so probably he did B.E, involved into many hardware and software aspects of computing, which includes design of Processors & Motherboards and other hardware stuff as his job.

      From Wikipedia:
In 2009, a new graduate with a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering when employed could have an average salary of $61,738 in the United States

i m doing bE in SE ....BE(SE) has better scope than any of BS(CS) degrees....
      1) u get a tag of eng.
2)BS CS is a general computer degree, u get to learn till 50th percentile of each field in COMPUTING......
      3) BE SE is all about developing softwares, still learning CS subjects as well

Software Engineering is a PART of Computer Science. If you're really into the IT field, have a go at Computer Science. At Bachelors level, it provides a vast range of options for different sub-domains.

I will go with CS,they always think of doing something new like the scientists do whereas engineers implement that thing and how to make it work. With a BS in CS you can have a wide career in Computing field like networking, programming and also on engineering side.My cousin did CS from Karachi university and is working in Dubai as a software developer with a salary of more than 2 lac........also he did specialization in networking when he was in KU.

are you mad ::S in Computer Science you will not work with Hardware as much as engineering student do.In CS you always talk about Software programming and Development...But if you are a Engineering student then you deal with Designing and creative stuff which involve Hardware also. But when it Comes to Software Engineering then you have limited options...i m not saying its a bad field but you can get more Course with BSCS..

Before Coming to any Conclusion Please saw the Courses in both fields,in BSCS you almost covering every thing which is offered in BSSE program,Plus some Extra Courses .

Here is the Course outline for BSCS http://www.uok.edu.pk/faculties/comp...ce/bscsout.php
and for Course outline for BSSE http://www.uok.edu.pk/faculties/comp...ce/bsseout.php

1: One of the guy i know, Completed his Computer Engineering (BS) from a reputable University + later he did MBA, got a job offer from Australia, (Salary: 1 lac 60 thousands) Currently doing job in Pakistan (Salary: 1 lac 20 thousand) includes a Flat & 1000CC Car from Company.

2: Second Guy, completed his bachelors degree in Technical field, currently doing job as a network engineer (Salary: 25.000) has a offer from ARY Digital as Network Support Engineer (Salary: 45.000)

3: Third Guy: Completed his regular education, he is into Video Editing & Film Making, currently doing job in AAJ TV (Salary: 40.000)

I will advice you to prefer computer engineering and complete your bachelors degree in it, Graphic designer has lot of scope in TV Chanel, but not equal to an Engineer, and you can always do short courses in Graphic designing if you want to join this field later..
Radz can you tell me the name of the person who you know works in Aaj? I used to work there too
