      Alamode I have a question.

Although I think that you are an audit trainee but try to answer my question if you can. I recently applied at aff Lahore in Consulting for the position of consulting assistant. I gave the test, was then called for the first interview and then the second/final one with the partner which was on last tuesday. The interview with the partner was only of 5 mins and was very informal at the end of which he made me read from a paper on firm policies. I haven't received any correspondence from the firm since then. Do you think I will get selected or not?

Edit: Never mind. Called today and didn't get in.

how abt the worth of cima both in pak and abroad?

what are the pass rates of cima specifically for pak? ( i know global pass rate and pass rate of uk only).

I would suggest to go for ACCA.. its a core qualification like CA.. Cima is more specialized towards management accounting. If you do CIMA you restrict your scope a little bit.. whereas if you go for ACCA, the scope is much wider.. You can go in Audit, management accounting, financial reporting, tax etc etc.

I havent seen alot of Cima qualified people in the industry though so cant comment but have seen alot of Accas and the worth of acca in pakistan is pretty poor. Salaries start from 15-20 thousand after qualifying ACCA on average. So if you do go for ACCA, i would suggest you also start job/training in some organization so that when you clear your ACCA you have some experience already otherwise you'll get problems in the industry.

Yes if you complete ACCA and have no experience, Then the starting is from 15-20. Thats why i would suggest to get some experience while doing ACCA as well so that when you qualify as an ACCA, you will have an edge over other ACCA students.

If you want to go for ICAEW after ACCA, then you need to give 3 papers of ICAEW provided that you have taken advanced tax and advanced audit as your optional professional papers. You can only give these 3 exams in pakistan.. If you dont give audit or tax as optional papers, Then you will have to give 5 papers of Icaew but since Icaew only offers 3 papers here in pakistan you will still have to give Audit and Tax in acca and then claim exemptions.

btw, where does CA inter earn more then 30 to 40k ? :S..

Alamode is right. ACCA qualification is not very popular these days. Being acca qualified alone is not worth much unless you have good 2-3 years experience after which you will be able to get higher salaries. But like alamode said, at start, after qualifying you will get 15-20k if you go into industry or stipend if you become a trainee at some firm. So if you do start ACCA, I would suggest that you also start working at some firm to get some experience. On the other hand, if you want to study full time, then take the maximum amount of papers you can to qualify ACCA in a lesser number of attempts as employers at firms will also be interested in that. I am telling you all this from first hand experience. I am ACCA qualified and no one at the college was there to provide me with any kind of guidance.

And ALamode, since you are in Advisory, could you please provide me with some info about the future of ERP in the country. Thanks.
