      Thumbs up Dagamer's DriveKey Review

Well, yes, as I promised I now have installed and completely tested the DriveKey modchip and heres my little review on it. Cheers!

The Drivekey is a little modchip developed by the same manufacturers who developed the WiiKey and D2C modchips, both personal favourites. It is a completeley solderless modchip, which unlike the other "solderless" clips is not only stable but very simple to install. In fact, even a baby in a diaper could install it... well maybe a man in a diaper .

The whole installation process took me around 20 minutes, which includes disassembly and assembly of the console as well. The modchip sits between the drive and the motherboard as a by-pass chip. The only tools needed were the tri-wing screwdriver a small 4 point and some electrical tape.

Another neat feature is the menu. All you have to do is press reset thrice, and the menu pops up as a gamecube game. There is no need to update this modchip, but in case the need ever arrises one can simply use the j-tag provided.
All the games work. No problems whatsoever. The previous problems on the older version of the Drivekey have been completely resolved.

Ive uploaded some images of what my console looked like after installation. (PLEASE IGNORE THE BEDSHEET, I WAS IN MY YOUNGER BROS. ROOM AT THE TIME)

      Ease of installation: 10
      Performance: 9.5
      Sturdiness: 10

HIt me up on any questions!

Well, according to the guarantee, and the drivekey menu, it seems to have resolved that. Gonna test it when my cousin brings wii sports resort from ireland. It has the 4.1 update...lets see if it bricks my wii.

UPDATE: Ok my cousin brought his original copy of Wii sports resort with him from Ireland. My wii was on the 4.0 FW, WS resort has the 4.1 FW, when I inserted the disc into my console, the drive read the game and the menu popped up, but when I started it it gave me a black screen. I realized that wii sports resort cannot be played without the update, so I updated my console via the internet to 4.1 and inserted the game again and this time it worked! So indeed the modchip works as a brick-blocker and its region-free in a sense as well.
I would definately recommend everyone who owns a wii to have thh Drivekey installed especially if u rely on the local market for games.

Hey Dagamer, I've read in some reviews on the internet tht de chip has these limitation:

*It can only read at a speed of 3x as described in its advertisement while some other chips can read even at 6x. So it takes a little more time to load the games which display ‘Loading’ as compared to other chips.

*It does not support GameCube games that contain CDDA (Streaming Audio) tracks which come up during the play and one can be stuck with a stammering sound. Well def disappointment 4 de hard core fans of GameCube for not having the streaming audio.

Do u think r dey some serious issues? which mite hold some consumers back to buy dis expensive chip or stick 2 de old 1s (obviously ppls having D3 & D2E Epoxy drives) don't have n e other choice!!
