Window phone 7/7.5 suggestion..

@shockwave! Well i dont disagree with you on "Android isn't Optimized" thing. But ... It does offer you A LOT of choices.

I tell you your mistake at this point:

- You are neglecting the "GAIN" from 3GS TO SGS. SGS is A LOT better in A LOT of ways.

- You are expecting TOO MUCH from your Phone, neglecting the part thats its a Single Core Device. Android being not optimized well, is now moved to Dual Core devices. Heck even Quad Cores are about to jump in.

- You haven't flashed MUCH. Being Android user, you should atleast try ALL of the available things before jumping to conclusions like "I am done with this OS". Well sure, i am not blocking you. If you want to go to other OS, you can go ahead. But MAY BE ... JUST MAY BE you save those extra bucks you are going to spend on other (probably shitty) phone.

Anyway ... If you want to move towards WP7. Find yourself Omnia 7. Its quite cheap these days. 22-23k At Best.

Its a brilliant phone and SHOULD suffice for that budget.

@OP, killing apps won't speed up your phone.I'll suggest you to get rid of the touchwiz ROM you're running and try MIUI and AOSP ICS ROMs, just once before making your mind up about going for a WP7.

As Abobobilly suggested,you're expecting too much from your phone.Going from a SGS to a 1st Gen WP7 device isn't a ugprade.

Radar, Mozart, Omnia 7. All are good.
Personally, since the difference in price is not big, I'll go with Omnia

This kinda is the whole problem.
Except for the newest Nexus, all of the Android devices I have used are not as fast as the competition is/was. And I have used a lot of them.


I recently got the chance to try the mighty Note. I heard a lot of people saying it lags as hell, and is probably one of the most laggiest devices, and some said it is the fastest out there.
Well, my experience? Its a mixed bag.
For starters, it performs a lot faster than Galaxy S II in certain areas. Its display is hands down the best I've seen since 4' Retina. The high resolution adds to it.
It really is awesome and fast in certain areas, but due to obvious reasons, it lags. Though its less than GS II.

Flashing your device is never the solution.
You are paying a handsome amount of money for a phone and you should get the most out of your money out of the box. Not after tweaking with it.

Custom ROMs aren't the solution. It doesn't always go as planned.
Flashing your device is never the solution.
You are paying a handsome amount of money for a phone and you should get the most out of your money out of the box. Not after tweaking with it.

Yes, it is an upgrade. In almost every way.
Except for the App count.

Yes WP7 has a silky smooth UI in its built in OS. Install apps, use them and you'll come back crying to Android/iOS.

Really? Which apps? Have you used Whatsapp or the official Twitter app or the Facebook app on WP7? Have you used them on iOS? If you're thinking they're on par with iOS then you're delusional.

You missed my point. Misunderstood me.

What I was saying was that average user don't know what a ROM is. He/She doesn't know what version of the OS is installed in the phone they are using. I have seen many, I mean many, phones, where the user don't even know how to move the widgets on homscreen, and so the one that comes pre-installed in the devices with Froyo and later, the little Android icon which gives you tips, is still there on the homescreen, even after years of use.

Very, very little is the number of people who know about custom ROMS and stuff. I agree, you can get better performance through it, but what s the point in spending the money, when you still have to do tweaks?

Do you have to do them in iOS or Windows Phone?
Of course not, because they provide you the most out of your money, out of the box.
ICS has addressed a lot of issues. Its a step in right direction, but it'll still take time for Android to catch up to the performance of iOS and Windows Phone

Yes it is, the only and the possible solution for a phone to survive longer in the competition then what it was meant to.At least on Android you have a choice to make the most out of your phone.

The OP isn't an average user, he's already running a custom ROM so don't bring that point in here.An average user will also be satisfied with a Symbian running Nokia as long as it can play music, do calls, take pictures and has angry birds.

overall performance of android is better than wp7 but wp7 has smoothest scroll and decent web browsing.
also you can have very much different experiences in android like ics, miui, cm7, or simple gingerbread

android is not for those who don't know customizing or flashing seriously it is nothing without customizing...
i also think wp7 > meego and ios.... ios and meego are boring but fast and stable
