Report: iPad 3 On The Way With Retina Display, Quad-Core Chips

According to a report from Bloomberg, the next iPad is now in production at Apple's manufacturing plants in Asia. The iPad 3, the report says, will sport a higher resolution screen, a more powerful graphics chip and support for next-gen wireless networks.<--more-->
The bump in resolution for the iPad 3, from 1024 x 768 to a rumored 2048 x 1536, would likely be branded a Retina Display by Apple, which introduced a high-res iPhone display with its iPhone 4 iteration.
Bloomberg's report says the new Apple tablet will sport a quad-core A6 chip, noting that videos "begin playing almost instantly because of the additional graphics processing."
The iPad 3 will also reportedly support 4G LTE wireless standard for faster data.

I think ipad 2 will still be a good purchase for price/performace ratio even if the ipad 3 comes out. It will take an year or 2 for the ipad 2 to step aside as a REAL predecessor for the ipad 3 and then the ipad 3 shines in the sky

I don't think that will be the case. Its consumer's psychology to go for the latest product in market, as the predecessor is only a few buck cheaper. Though i am sure many won't upgrade from ipad2, unless the difference in considerable, taking the example of 4s into account.

From rumors, i don't see many upgrades, video loading faster? It hardly takes seconds now for videos to load. Much higher resolution on such a small screen? the full hd 1080p is an eye-candy for ipad2, going bigger means, much bigger file size, which is obviously a down-side, and wireless streaming won't be viable as well.

Multi-tasking is already on its pinnacle with the A-5 chip, i seriously don't understand what they are trying to achieve with A-6. Unless the ipad3 is with a 100gb capacity, i see a big downfall in the sales of apple's latest product, as with all the high-res they are going to need more capacity.

Then again all these rumors are subject to citation. Will know more when the product is officially launched as it will give us a better idea of pros and cons of the device.

Stating the obvious. Though the release date prices won't have a huge difference between them, as apple always keeps its customers in mind when launching the new product.
