why are you even considering and a wildfire?!
I recently bought an HTC Explorer for a relative. It might have better performance than Wildfire S, but it most definitely is much inferior to Wildfire S as far as looks and feel are concerned. I absolutely hated the rubber back. That looks extremely cheap. You should go to market and see some second hand Explorer before finalizing your decision.

I would suggest you go for Wildfire S now because of
It has an assisted GPS
Higher resolution Camera
and slighty thinner too.

A-GPS or GPS, the GPS on the explorer works better locks indoors within a minute.
Camera's on these phones don't matter
Rubber back feels appropriate for a cheap phone which will be getting a bashing
