Finished downloading. Not a large file (0.5GB approx).
EDIT 1:
OMG! This game has got to be one of the most gorgeous things I've ever witnessed on-screen. The eyes, they cannot believe what they are seeing! Jenova Chen *bows*
EDIT 2:
Dammit, I have to leave for work!
Will give it a proper playthrough as soon as I get back.

BRAVO!! ThatGameCompany!!! You have put certain "big name multiplat. devs" to shame!!!
True Rebels Walk Alone
Well now I'm regretting not getting PS+ ; _ ; I pre-ordered the game and now have to wait a week to play it =( at least I got a pretty theme to entertain me : 3
My PS Plus expires in 10 days.
Timing couldn't have been perfect.
It's from "American Beauty". That's how I would define my experience with Journey. So profoundly beautiful, words cannot do justice. Truly a masterpiece of art.Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world, I feel like I can't take it, and my heart is just going to cave in.
Just played it and completed it in one sitting
The name is indeed appropriate.
It truly does transcend what a video game is known as. It sounds corny, but it is very true.
I would actually label it more as interactive art than a video game honestly. As such, it is definitely not going to be everyone's cup of tea.
In fact I am sure some people will absolutely hate it.
Personally, I loved it. Truly, truly loved it.
First off visually, I really do not think it gets any better.
The feeling of weight they were able to achieve, perhaps the best physics I have ever played in a game. So simple yet so complex.
And the sand. Just utterly amazing.
Also possibly some of the best sound ever. It plays such an important role it is not even funny.
Just yeah. An absolute experience in every sense of that word. Again, a Journey.
I actually did most of it with someone else. We were in tune after just a few minutes. They would just occasionally get ahead of me as I was finding everything I could. They would then wind up backtracking to also find what I just found. Although they were always ahead, I felt like the leader of the two of us. I am sure they felt otherwise.
I literally only have one "observation" if you will, and it contains a HUGE SPOILER. So do not read until you have beaten the game.
At least that is what I got out of it all once it was all said and done.Spoiler: show
This is, as of now, as close to art as it gets. I plan on playing it again, but not for quite some time.
Unique. Contemplative. Thought Provoking. Somber. Exhilarating. Visceral.
Just a few words that come to mind when trying to summarize what Journey is as an experience.
I truly feel if anyone is interested in what else video games can represent as a medium, you need to play this game.
And as cliched as it is going to sound, even more perhaps appropriate, you need to take this Journey.
I carry a gun, because I can't throw a rock @1250 fps

First of all, welcome to the Playstation section.
I agree with most of what you've said. However, I'm guessing you played it offline, because you didn't mention one of the primary aspects of the game i.e. companionship. Yes, I'm referring to Journey's unique cooperative offering.
More than anything else, it is this silent interaction with another player (in order to overcome puzzles) that cements its place as a game, and not just as a piece of interactive art. Of course, the art is phenomenal, and the experience fairly linear. Indeed, there are times where Journey does transcend into poetry-in-motion territory, but to categorize it among the likes of 'Dear Esther' or 'Linger in Shadows' would be a bit of an unfair assessment, imho.
Going by the critical reception, I'm sure it would be a rarity for anyone to hate it. There's something here for everyone to appreciate. Well, almost everyone:

^ As much as I adore your enthusiasm, you sure seem to heavily rely on reviews.
Looks absolutely phenomenal. I might just take out some cash from my bank account - the one I have been saving for money - and play this on day one. But, I won't hold my breath. This is was, and is on my must buy list. This type of metaphorical experience needs to be savoured. Only a fool will nitpick this game, when the developers have actually endeavoured to bring artistic beauty into the world of gaming, that is completely devoid of such sensibilities.
