      New Systems:

      Focus Attacks
Focus Attacks, known as "Saving System" in the Japanese version, is a new system that is being introduced in Street Fighter IV. The focus attack is a move that allows the player to absorb an attack and launch a counter attack, and it is performed by pressing the medium punch and kick buttons simultaneously. There are two phases to the attack. In the first phase, the player will shift into a new stance, at which point he or she is able to absorb one attack from the opponent. The second phase is the counter attack. The longer the player holds down the medium punch and kick buttons the more powerful the attack will be. If the buttons are held for long enough the attack will be unblockable and cause the opponent to crumple slowly to the ground, allowing the player to follow up with a free hit. Attacks that were absorbed during the first phase of the focus attack still cause damage to the player; however, life lost from the opponent's attack will be regenerated afterward. In addition, during the first phase of the focus attack the player may perform a dash either forward or backward to cancel the focus attack. Finally, at the cost of half the super combo gauge, many special moves can be canceled into a focus attack. By executing a focus attack during the special move, the animation of the move will be cut short and go instantly into the focus attack animation. This allows players with precise timing to cancel special moves into focus attacks, and in turn cancel focus attacks into the forward dash, resulting in new combo possibilities. If a special move is blocked by the opponent, the new system allows players to cancel the blocked move with a focus attack, and then cancel the focus attack by dashing backward safely away from the opponent.
Ono has stated that this system was incorporated in order to shift the emphasis away from combos and toward a more realistic system he has compared to boxing, in which "the skill is in reading your opponent's move before he or she starts moving ... We haven't forgotten about combos and linked moves, but focus makes it so that you have to read your opponent." The system aims to make ground attacks as viable a way of approaching opponents as jumping was in previous games. The focus system is a core part of Street Fighter IV's gameplay.

      Ultra Combos
In addition to the powered-up versions of special moves introduced in previous Street Fighter games such as Super Combos and EX Special Moves, the game also introduces a new type of powered-up special move officially dubbed the Ultra Combo. Ultra Combos are long and cinematic moves featuring a lengthy combination of punches, kicks and other fighting techniques. Just as there is a Super Combo gauge, there is also an Ultra Combo gauge (officially known as the "Revenge Gauge" or "Revenge Meter"), but whereas the Super Combo gauge fills up when the player hits their opponent or performs a special move, the Revenge Gauge fills when one takes damage from their opponent. Along with the Super Combos, Ultra Combos are one of the only times the camera breaks from its normal fixed position to show a more dynamic, cinematic view of the gameplay.

Well we already had a hype thread for SF4 and we were treating it as an official thread. Hmm perhaps we can merge the two since this once has characters ratings as well.

      This is the original one.

i already got it for the 360...its kickass!... although its a pain to play on the 360 controller...my hands more used to the playstation controller... i'll definitly get it for the PS3 soon... at any rate the games petty old school mixed with some new flavour (which is good), focus attacks are awsome...i personally love Ryu's and Sagat's focus attack ... the best character to play as is Abel amongst the newcommers ( IMO )... i dont understand el Fuerte , he has alot of useless animations basically just runing around and falling over... :/ may be useful in the hands of a better player. ... another and most talked about new character in the SF roster is probably Gouken...Ryu and ken's master. He is fun to play as...his Ultra Move is a Shin Shoryuken (previously was Ryu's)...the animation for that move is superb...you can actually tell the pain on the opponents face as he takes damage...thats royal...hehe.

As for the returning characters... Guile , Vega , Bison , Gouki , Ken , Sagat and Feilong are my pick from the roster....Ryu is still my trump card for victorys

best thing about this game is that it has English and japanese voices selectable for ingame and movies... , personally i felt more at home with the japanese voices....although they've done a good job with the english voices as well....and the best thing is that u can individually change that for each character rather then change it for all of them. ( but that feature is unlocked once you beat the game).

Oh and...i've heard theres also a streetfighter4 anime out....can anyone enlighten me on that?

      my favorite voiceovers?

el fuerte's "super dynamic cooking time!" and boxer's "don't stop me!".

i've kept the voiceover set to japanese, they all sound so much cooler that way.

i also think abel is the best new character, crimson is kinda technical, but not bad.

a usually play with sakura, ryu or cammy.

but after trying my hand at the challenge mode, i've realised i suck! need to play a lot more to really get the game. can't time those combos and stuff.

i've beat challange mode for ryu , ken , gouki , sagat, guile, bison, feilong and abel... in my opinion challange mode dosent really portrays ur skill rather ur potential...dont worry... i bet u still kick ass ...and besides its totally different when playing against a human opponent...and i guess thats what matter...

i also think that this game is easier compared to other streetfighters...i can beat the game without continuing or even sometimes without losing a single round on the hardest difficulty.... and i belive myself to be an intermediate player. I couldnt beat SF2 this way on the hardest difficulty.

ill spend some more time playing as el fuerte...i think hes just "different" to play as ...or maybe just me. I ussually just get pwned so bad when i pick elfuerte against even my nephews lolz.... Sakura is coool... i like her english voice overs, sounds cuter :P....
