"Marvel vs. Capcom 3" : It's Official!

Remember how Deso joked about how Jawad would probably be hoping Capcom add Dante to the list of players on SSF4? Well, he should've asked for a million dollars instead.

The internet is ripe with rumors about MVC3, which is supposedly in the works.

There is an interesting article posted on Team Spooky's news page. Now, I don't know who or what Team Spooky is, but apparently he's the dude who leaked the initial SSF4 info, the one about 2 Ultras and the 2 new characters and a whole bunch of other stuff. He's apparently been banned from the SRK forums by Mr Wizard because he leaked "Secret Capcom Information" by saying something about MVC3.

Kotaku has also picked up on the news. Apparently a full reveal is due in May. So keep your fingers crossed.

And oh, Dante isn't confirmed Just that he'd be a better pick than Frank West, wouldn't he?!

Personally, I would've loved Capcom vs. SNK 3; I didn't get into MVC2 as much, the game was hella imbalanced, and I can't pull off those 40 hit combos

Planet Xbox 360 the first to tell the story?

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: it's about time we got a real, high-definition upgrade to one of the best fighting games ever created. From the information we have heard the game will be disc-based (no more XBLA or PSN for MvC fans) and the graphics will be seriously upgraded, running at a full 1080P. Another little hint was the fact that Marvel-employee Agent M (Ryan Penagos) was in Hawaii this past week, at the same hotel, showing off something he could not yet talk about. Oh anyone else notice the Twitter account for MvC has popped back up, making tweets almost daily. Something is about to happen with that franchise and I'm willing to guarantee this is just that announcement (throw that in with the fact that my mole is inside, learning everything they need to know on this fighting game). The only information still scarce on this game is that of the roster, we can confirm that Wolverine, Spider-Man, The Hulk, Magneto, Storm, and a few others will be back; but the team behind MvC3 have said they will be blowing fans out of the water with the sheer number of characters this game includes (on the disc). Surely the unlock-able gameplay will be back and in full force. As far as gameplay goes the Capcom team decided to stick with what we know best, 2D - that being said it is not tradition 2D fighting, think more of a cross between Street Fighter IV and the original Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (sounds epically awesome to us). Other details, screenshots, trailers, and more will be released next week once the official embargo lifts. Another rumor my mole told me was that gamers attending this year's E3 2010 conference in Los Angeles will have a chance to go hands-on with Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - it should ship later this year or early 2011 for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. There are many other rumors swirling around but we think we pled our case just fine, MvC3 is coming to next-gen consoles and will be officially announced very soon (like next week).

Please Capcom make it more like MvC1 than MvC2.
MvC1 had backgrounds from comic books and games the characters were from. We had a Dr. Wily level from Megaman, Daily Bugle level from Spiderman, Avengers laboratory, etc. And the music...the music was just perfect. Remixed tunes of Ryu, Zangief, Chun Li,...great themes for the Marvel characters. Great mix of characters. Jin Saotome, Strider and War Machine were my favorite. A final boss that made sense (Onslaught) and fighting that was more frantic and extreme than SF but not overly so.

MvC2 just looked inconsistent. Fighting was too frantic, characters were too much and imbalanced, backgrounds were crap and the music was horrendous.
A 2-team game with TvC style gameplay will do.

As for the characters - Spiderman and Iron Man are obvious because of Marvel's movie success. But please add War Machine too. Even though he was a palette swap of IM I loved him in MvC2. Gambit and Venom are two other Marvel characters I'd love to see again. As for the Capcom side, please please please add Strider and Jin Saotome since they don't have their own franchises anymore. Dante and Virgil will be great additions too.
Also, fuck anyone who isn't excited for this.
