Current Team Ninja lead Yosuke Hayashi may be trying to break from some of the traditions of the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive franchises, but it appears the developer will dedicate some amount of its energies to one reason people play these games: breast physics. Dead or Alive 5, its creators say, will venture into unexplored depths of the boob sciences, with costumes that affect jiggle and feature varying levels of transparency.

Dead or Alive 5 collector’s edition announced - Gematsu

It will include “sensual” in-game swimsuits for female characters and a deluxe set of both physical and in-game items in a “sleek metal case.”

Dead or Alive 5 Adds Two New Characters, Brad Wong and Eliot


Team Ninja brought back a couple of familiar faces to the newest entry in the Dead or Alive franchise.
Brad Wong from Dead or Alive 3 and Eliot from Dead or Alive 4 were revealed to the folks at Gamescom as the newest characters for Dead or Alive 5.
Here's a little refresher course. Brad Wong, known as "The Drunken Master," fights in the Zui Quan style and brings an interesting mix of quick offense and defense to his fights. Eliot, aka "The Immovable Apprentice," fights in the Xing Yi Quan style. He is also light on his feet and quick with his punches and kicks, but he can use his movements to "generate bursts of power" against his opponents.
Team Ninja also showcased the characters' return to the franchise by showcasing them in a new "Chinese House" stage in some more screenshots. Their fight appears to start over a tasty dumpling. This is what happens in a house to refuses to eat with utensils likes knives.

Brad Wong and Eliot Enter the Dead or Alive Tournament

Cologne, Germany – August 15, 2012 – Today Team NINJA celebrates the kick-off of Gamescom 2012 by revealing two new fighters for the upcoming fighting entertainment title Dead or Alive 5, which launches on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 25, 2012. Team NINJA re-introduces the characters of Brad Wong and Eliot, who look more realistic than ever in their return to the highly anticipated fifth installment of the Dead or Alive series. To premier these two new characters, Team NINJA has released spectacular new images of the characters highlighting both fighters in a never-before-seen stage.
Referred to as the “immovable apprentice,” Eliot is a Xing Yi Quan prodigy under the tutelage of master Gen Fu. The youngest contestant in the DOA tournament, Eliot has a polite and respectful attitude toward his rivals but can be very aggressive and impatient during a fight. Fast on his feet, he uses coordinated movements to generate bursts of power, overwhelming his opponents while simultaneously defending and attacking.
Brad Wong, having concluded his search for the legendary wine Genra, returns to Dead or Alive 5 with his unique fighting style. The “Drunken Master” continues to exhibit the distinct moves of Zui Quan, confusing his opponents with his well-balanced style that employs a combination of hard-to-predict evasive maneuvers and quick strikes.
To showcase these two characters, Team NINJA has released all-new images of Brad Wong and Eliot fighting in a small Chinese house. This new stage is another example of the vivid interactive stages in Dead or Alive 5, as characters can be kicked through walls and windows, destroying their surroundings as they fight to win!
Dead or Alive 5 will also include an extensive online mode, allowing players to test their skill against opponents from around the globe.
Dead or Alive 5 is developed by Team NINJA and will be published by Tecmo Koei.

Dead Or Alive 5 Introduces Helena and Lisa with New Screenshots


Dead or Alive 5 has announced two additions to the roster today. One of them is an opera singer/expert martial artist and the other is a scientist/luchadora.

No, really. We've got the screens to prove it.

As for where they fit into the franchise, Helena is the head of the newly reformed DOATEC committee, and Lisa is out for revenge against it.

Our Take: It's just nice to see Team Ninja's ongoing commitment to realism and tasteful restraint, yet again.

In all seriousness, this is the kind of wackiness we've come to expect from the dev team and this series in general. Yeah, it's over the top and utterly ridiculous, but this is a game that spent months making sure the breast physics were just right. These are the cheesy '80s action movies of fighting games and the further over the top, the better.

Master Chief's Girlfriend Sadly Not Appearing In Dead or Alive 5


In the last iteration of the Dead or Alive franchise, you could unlock Spartan-458, given the nickname "Master Chief's Girlfriend."

Sadly, it appears that Spartan-458 has fallen not to Covenant forces but rather, this time around, to time constraints.


According to a Jeux Video magazine article, the problem was simply that Team Ninja and 343 didn't have time on either of their ends to properly coordinate the return of the character to Dead or Alive 5. There were also rights issues to hash out, so apparently, at least for now, Spartan-458 is retired from service.

There will be guest characters in the game, though: At least two members from Sega's Virtua Fighter series are on the roster, and Team Ninja is on the record as wanting Shenmue's protagonist Ryo to make an appearance.

Our Take: It's too bad that this couldn't work out. But if we know Team Ninja, we're sure that something just as over-the-top and oddball will be on the way, whether as DLC or unlockable on the disc.
