This thread just came in to existence after Xbox 180 (lmao means reversing DRM and always online shit) announcement before that no doubt Sony was the better side!
I'll update this thread with all the features, exclusives and stuff soon.

Earlier this morning, Yoshinori Ono, a game producer for Capcom, tweeted that steady progress is being made on next-gen title Deep Down for the PS4. Included with that tweet is an off-screen tv photo of the game with PS4 controller in hand. Is this the first picture of actual gameplay for Deep Down?

Recently, Capcom senior vice president Christian Svensson said on the Capcom-Unity forums that Deep Down has no ties with Dragon's Dogma, another Capcom action-RPG game that was released in 2012.
Ono also tweeted last week that Deep Down wasn't ready in playable form at E3 2013 but will be for next year's E3.
A veritable mountain of information about Legacy of Kain game Dead Sun, cancelled by Square Enix allegedly last year, was dug up and posted on NeoGAF by an incredibly determined digger known as Mama Robotnik.

Most notably the leak revealed that Dead Sun had been in development for three years at Climax Studios (single-player) and Psyonix (multiplayer), but was scrapped in 2012. Screenshots, a video, concept art, game design - heaps of information was unearthed. And it caught Square Enix's eye.
Community manager George Kelion took to the thread to confirm Mama Robotnik's detective work.

"I can confirm that Dead Sun was a project which had been in development - but which was cancelled," he wrote.

"I know it's disappointing to hear about these things out of context, and whilst some of the details released are accurate - some details are not. You know game projects can be cancelled for a variety of different reasons and I know it's very hard to tell from images and info alone, but in the end LOK: Dead Sun just wasn't the right game, at the right time... but you'll have to take me at my word on that, I'm afraid."

Kelion ended his post by releasing a bit of concept art for the cancelled game.

Dead Sun was in development for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and apparently also PS4, as a launch title - it's not clear if an Xbox One version was intended. Dead Sun was built on Unreal Engine 3

Valve's digital download service Steam may soon allow users to share their game library with friends.

The feature is very similar to Microsoft's plans for Xbox One - namely, that users will be able to share their game library with up to 10 "family members" (which don't actually have to be members of your family).

Will Sony also implement the feature?
Code spotted in the latest Steam client beta suggests that the feature is on the way for PC gamers, Kotaku spotted.

References are made to a "Shared game library", with dialogue prompts for its use.

Like Xbox One, it appears multiple users won't be able to play the same game at the same time.

"Just so you know, your games are currently in use by %borrower%. Playing now will send %borrower% a notice that it's time to quit," a line of code for one dialogue prompt states.

"This shared game is currently unavailable. Please try again later or buy this game for your own library," another describes.

Irrational Games co-founder and Bioshock Creator Ken Levine has been assigned the role to write a script for the remake of 1976 film Logan’s Run, Deadline reports.

Before becoming a game designer, Levine actually started out as a screenwriter, having written two screenplays and pursuing a career in film.

Deadline reports that Levine’s screenwriting duties for Logan’s Run won’t interfere with his position at Irrational Games. The games developer is currently working on upcoming downloadable content for Bioshock Infinite.

EA has laid off some employees today as the company continues to go through organizational restructuring. Today, as few as 20 employees were let go as part of ongoing staff cuts. The department facing staff reductions include the internal analysis and reviews team.

Kat Bailey, an analyst part of today's layoffs, tweeted that her "whole department just got cut."

In April, about 900 positions were laid off when EA announced plans to reorganize.

Graphics have always been a big contender in determining the success of games this generation. Yes we have gotten used to shiny detailed graphics and any game offering any less than a set benchmark suffers in the market.

But graphics aren't the only thing in games that make it enjoyable. The A.I. behaviour doubles the entertainment for many. I have been noticing A.I. behaviour in several games.

Not all games have got commendable A.I. behaviour, most of the TPS and FPS games (the two giant genres) have a very simple A.I. The A.I. behaviour is not smart, there is either too many of them to let escape their sight or they go all rambo on your arse. Point being it will not try to trap you, you can easily dispose of hordes of'em by moving from cover to cover.

Last game that I vividly remember where the A.I. was exceptional was Arkham City and before that MGS4 and MGS3.
In Arkham City, the goons will try and surround you and will keep minimizing the cushion for pulling out successful combos. If you take a stealthier approach and take down one out of a group of patrolling thugs, they won't let it go unnoticed. They will track their partner and then track you from your last position, throw a bat-rang at them and they will track the direction from where you fired.

MGS3/MGS4, the thugs track you down even if you managed to escape to a far off location, they will track you down even if you are hiding under a bed. The A.I. gets very aggressive in Alerted mode. On normal mode it does a fine job in tracking through footsteps and other noises, on grass/muddy terrain they can track you from footprints. You can't just pass by them into another cover and think that they will not move from their pre-defined patrol path. They get a hint of suspicion and they will follow you till you want them to.

KZ3's A.I. was remarkable as well. The SP mode had its moments, they won't just go all rambo on you the A.I. makes clever use of covers and other objects on the stage.

Lets discuss more about this topic and games where you think the A.I. is smarter than an average games A.I.

Developer IO Interactive, known for creating the Hitman series, will be facing a staff reduction of almost half of its current team. GamesIndustry International reports that all other projects will be scrapped in favor in development for a new Hitman title.

"We are making significant changes at IO Interactive as we align our business against a changing and challenging market,” a Square Enix Europe representative said to GamesIndustry International. “Hannes Seifert, formerly Production Director for 3 years at the studio, will take over the position of Studio Head at IO.”

"The studio will focus resolutely on the future vision for the Hitman franchise and is in pre-production on a new AAA Hitman project. However we have taken the difficult decision to cancel other studio projects and initiatives at IO and reduce the workforce in this studio, which will impact almost half of the employees currently at IO, as we make internal adjustments to face the challenges of today's market."

I guess this shatters my dreams of a new Freedom Fighters game into even more pieces.

Do you think it’s a good idea that IO Interactive will focus solely on the Hitman series?

“You know what the world needs? A videogame adaption of Mad Max, a franchise that’s sat in stagnation for almost three decades.” That’s apparently what someone at Avalanche Studios said, because here we are in 2013 as the Just Cause developers are working on their interpretation of the continuation of the saga (and yes, I know there’s a movie reboot on its way). To be fair, it might not be as outrageous as it seems, because the game looks really damn cool.

Mad Max’s theatric ties are obviously apparent because Avalanche looks as if it’s taken special effort to ensure that the game bleeds cinematic flair at every turn. In a style that’s somewhat reminiscent of Max Payne 3’s execution system, particular action shorts are graced with slow-motion camera attention, making the whole affair feel like two-thirds videogame, one-third movie.

Layered underneath the visual direction is the tool set for a fairly compelling game. It doesn’t appear like it’ll be the most robust of titles, but there are enough pieces for an action experience. In the 15-minute live hands-off demo that I saw, the developers displayed the car’s upgrade system. All sorts of different tires, front-end ramming grills, and other vehicular components can be equipped. Of course, heavier cars move more slowly and control worse than cars with lighter frames.

That’s really about all that was shown, as it’s pretty evident that Mad Max is in the early stages of development. Just enough was presented to make me intrigued for the future of this title. Avalanche has a track record of creating some legitimately fun games, and I only hope that this isn’t taken too conservatively and seriously in an effort to protect the subject material. As is, it looks like it’s on the right path.

Final Fantasy XV(Previously known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII) is the next game in the popular Final Fantasy franchise, which has sold about 100+ million units(as of 2011). This new saga in the Final Fantasy franchise is being created under the direction of Tetsuya Nomura, the creator/director of Kingdom Hearts series and TWEWY*. The story is being penned by Kazushige Nojima(Final Fantasy VII, Advent Children, VIII, X, X-2, Kingdom Hearts and Crisis Core) and music composed by Yoko Shimumora(Parasite Eve, Kingdom Hearts, Xenoblade Chronicles and Street Fighter 2).

However, the precise impact of these concepts on the story is not known. The game is set in modern times, but the city-like country Lucis which protagonist Noctis hails from is the only technologically advanced location, otherwise surrounded by medieval nations. The reason for this divide is a cold war waged over crystals, the last of which Lucis holds. The other nations used to have their own crystals, but lost them due to ongoing conflicts. They have since focused their efforts on the development of weapons rather than on the progress of their culture, which left them in their regressive state. Just as the cold war ends and a treaty on the peaceful use of crystals is declared, the nation Niflheim unexpectedly invades Lucis, forcing Noctis and his friends to escape. Having waged wars against the countries Solheim, Tenebrae and Accordo, Niflheim's forces conquer the last remaining crystal, but Noctis tries to stop them before they can leave the city.

 Lucis:
The Kingdom of Lucis is ruled by Regis Lucis Caelum. A nation said to keep the last known existing crystal in the world of Final Fantasy XV, it is described as a nation both highly advanced and developed, and culturally intact, with tradition vibrant and still alive with the "songs of swords and sorcery".
The city is a sprawling metropolis, inspired by modern-day cities like Tokyo and New York, and as such, is populated by skyscrapers and highways.
Lucis, "of the light" or "belonging to the night", is the genitive form of the Latin Lux, "Light".

Tenebrae:
The kingdom of Tenebrae is home to Noctis' childhood friend Stella. Little is known about it at this time, though there is a legend in Tenebrae which states that those who can see the "light" will obtain special powers.
"Tenebrae" is Latin for "darkness" or "shadows".

Niflheim:
Led by Idola Eldercapt, Niflheim is an opposing kingdom in this game. They are shown to have invaded Lucis during the peace treaty signing party, which would have settled the dispute over the last crystal. They have also waged war on other kingdoms like Accordo, Solheim and Tenebrae.

Solheim:
A kingdom under attack by Niflheim. No other information is available yet.

Accordo:
A beautiful and picturesque city that comes under attack by Niflheim forces. The latest trailer shows a giant sea serpent (Leviathan?) demolishing the city, while Noctis is seen jumping from roof to roof trying to battle these forces.

Nomura Interview regarding FF XV

Quote:

 - Nomura says the final line in the FFXV trailer is not part of the game's story, it was just added as a gag for the name change reveal. (This is the line about the "fifteenth coming".)

- He acknowledge that the "A world of the VERSUS epic" tagline at the end of the trailer specifically refers to the possibility of turning the setting into a series of its own. He says the story in FFXV will reach a climax, but it is like the conclusion of a single part of a larger epic (poem). There will be room for more stories to be told.

- He is aware that for large scale console development projects, there might be a need to keep people interested in the long term with online elements rather than just offer a short term single player experience. There are no concrete plans as of yet but he's looking at all possibilities to see what fits.

- There will be more of FFXV shown from now onwards, especially at big events like TGS.

- For FFXV and KH3, they're currently looking into using Luminous Studio as the main engine. By developing on an Overspec (PC environment I presume), it makes porting the same content to both PS4 and Xbox One easier.

 "I'll finish it later"

The road to game neglect is paved with good intentions. Who among us hasn't sunk hours into a meaty adventure only to toss it aside on the promise that one day--we swear, one day--we'll come back to finish what we started? For better or worse, the non-stop avalanche of new releases and time-consuming titles (Skyrim, we're looking at you) make it tough to keep our oaths. As a result, somewhere there exists a virtual waiting room with mid-level warriors, almost-saved planets, and damsels (still) in distress who pine for a hero who will never return.

Why it's ok: Burnout can happen to the best of us. Even the greatest heroes can wear out their welcome, and the allure of something new is hard to resist. What's more, it's tough to pick up an old game after that initial momentum has stalled out. We forget our old tricks, who we're suppose to care about, and what we were in the middle of doing a year ago when were really into it. No doubt, we mean it when we say we'll come back to finish a game. But then, if we're only doing it out of obligation, what's the point?

"I'll stop after the next save"

We've all been there: At the peak of a critical battle, one boss away from a new power-up, or three legendary MacGuffins from an epic set of armor. The problem is real world obligations overlap with our gaming objectives, and so we promise ourselves and loved ones that we'll quit right after we get a chance to save. And then that save point comes and--lo and behold--there's an even bigger battle, a badder boss, and an even shinier set of armor that requires our immediate attention. Suddenly, that “few extra minutes!” has turned into an hour, and that loved one is threatening to spend the night at her friend's house.

Why it's ok: What our bosses, partners, family, and teachers don't understand is that (in the moment) our bonds to a game can feel just as unbreakable as our ties to real world responsibilities. In any case, how many times have we had to sit through “one more Dancing with the Stars” or stay late at the office for “one more meeting”. Truth is, everyone has something they'll gladly sacrifice time for at the expense of others, so why should gaming be any different?

"I'll never support DLC"

$5.99 for a C-list character? No thanks. $3.99 for a re-skinned gun? Move along. And $9.99 for a half-assed minigame expansion? We're not biting.... or are we? Now that nearly every new release is gunning for our digital wallets, there are always those who swear they'll never shell out extra coin for content that arguably should've been included in the boxed copy. We talk a good game, but do we stick to our guns? The fact DLC has become standard practice indicates otherwise. Indeed, even the most strident anti-DLC warriors eventually break down and buy DLC for games they love on the lie they'll really, really stick to their guns the next time around.

Why it's ok: It's your money. Do what you want. Some people buy fancy hats, some drink overpriced coffees, and others waste cash on cigarettes. So who's to judge? The value of DLC is in the eye of the beholder, and that proposition boils down to how much you've enjoyed a game and how much more you're willing to pay to spend more time within it. It's ok to break this promise because our feelings about added content can change dramatically in relation to how much we love and/or hate the game on the receiving end.

"I won't buy it on launch"

Just as overpriced DLC has trained us to be wary of micro-transactions, so too have game-killing bugs and glitches taught us to resist launch day purchases. After all, not a month goes by without a horror story about server mess-ups (SimCity) or online errors (Diablo III). As a result, many of us make an internal pact to wait at least a week or so to avoid feeling the sting of a botched launch. That is until launch day actually comes and we skip out of work to nab it early like everyone else.

Why it's ok: Buying a game at launch is wired into our DNA. Many of us were raised in an era where developers had no other choice but to release a game that worked 100%, so the idea that buying a game and not having it function as advertised was, and still is, hard to swallow. Then, the age of patches and updates came along, giving studios the wiggle room to release broken products. Now, even though we know better, we still can't shake the allure of being one of the first to play the next big thing (even if that means having to wait for the “next big patch” to play it).
Gamers can be a prideful bunch and, as such, some of us will sign a pact in blood to never use an online walkthrough no matter how mind-numbingly difficult their game becomes. It's an admirable oath, but rarely is it ever upheld. At one point or another, we always get to a point where “one hint won't hurt”. Soon after that first hit of online clarity, however, and we're playing the rest of the campaign with all our favorite walkthroughs and YouTube tutorials at the ready. But hey, at least we're not bankrupting our parents by calling those Nintendo tip lines anymore.

Why it's ok: Some titles were designed to sell game guides and others are weighed down by insanely obscure problems that--let's be honest--aren't worth your time. After all, what's the value in spending a full week combing through 14 miles of a make believe city for that last Magic Squirrel, when you could be letting other internetters do the work for you?. Besides, today's games are meant to encourage community interaction. Not stealing solutions and tips from other players would be the real travesty.
"I won't buy the next Call of Madden: Assassin's Battlefield 13"

There will always be franchises that release a sequel every year, and there will always be fans who swear--once and for all--that they're going to stop supporting this at-times sloppy, profit-driven practice. It's a noble ambition, but judging by the continued successes of series like Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed and [insert EA Sports property], it's safe to say that not too many are following through on their threats.

Why it's ok: Some take the concept of “game annualization” to imply that studios are coding new sequels from scratch after new release in a bid to add even more coins to their pools of gold. In actuality, once a series has gained enough traction, studios will often plan a string of sequels in advance and assign various divisions to handle their development. As such, sequels like Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag or Call of Duty: Ghosts, which appear to pop up out of nowhere, are actually games that have been cooking for a while and are just now getting their turn in the spotlight.
"I won't peek in splitscreen multiplayer"

Today's gamers may not have to face this moral dilemma much anymore, but before the age of online play or even LAN connections, the only way to challenge your friends to a game of, say, Goldeneye slappers, was to gather around one TV and promise your rivals you won't cheat by looking at their screen. What's that, you say? You never looked? Congratulations, you're a dirty liar. Local co-op matches were all about sneaking a peak at your opponent's position and “pretending” to stumble across them with a grenade launcher. It didn't matter if it was Mario Kart, Perfect Dark, or Halo—roughly 99.9% of gamers who played splitscreen multiplayer have broken this promise. And the others? They lost.

Why it's ok: You want to win, right? We don't condone breaking promises to friends, but games are won and lost by knowing your opponents moves. It's only natural that you would use all the information available to you. Plus, it's next to impossible not to have some idea of where your targets are when their avatar is setting up their “super secret” camping spot just millimeters away from your corner of the screen.
"I won't be a Trophy/Achievement whore"

Ah, the allure of the “bloop” and “ding”. Since their arrival, PSN Trophies and Xbox Live Achievements have changed gaming on a psychological level. And while we swear up and down that our playing style won't be affected by the urge to boost our e-scores and trophy counts, we've all let our Trophy/Achievement whoring ways lead us astray at one point or another.
Why it's ok: In the hands of the right developers, Trophies/Achievements can actually inspire us to do things we never thought of doing or tackle challenges we didn't even know existed. Also, stringing gamers along with meaningful rewards in games is a tactic that developers used for years before Gamerscore came along. And let's be fair--if someone gets their kicks from building scores with no real life value, what's the harm in that?
"I won't get caught up in the console war"

Every six or seven years, the gaming scene becomes a battleground between fans who support the upcoming console X, those who vehemently stand behind console Y, and the odd ones who are still blindly supporting console Z. Without fail, we promise ourselves we won't get caught up in this commercially manufactured rivalry, but we always choose sides in the end and cling to our champion under the insane premise that massive corporations need us to fight their battles.

Why it's ok: Jocks have their favorite sports team, hipsters have beloved-yet-crappy bands, and movie buffs have their most valued, obscure director. Being passionate about a hobby means you're eventually going to have a preference and an urge to defend it, even if you know that doing so makes you kind of annoying in social situations. At the end of the day, the console wars are fun to get wrapped up in because it gives us something to rally for and a battle we can fight.
"I'll never play games on my iWhatever"

The growth of “app gaming” has created a divide among gamers. On one side, there are players who are open to giving iOS and Android games a shot. On the other, there are a vocal group of purists who swear to themselves they'll never accept games on their smartphone or tablet on the grounds that they're cheap and brainless alternatives to the real thing. Inevitably, however, the latter will come across a game on iOS or Android that defies their expectations and, inevitably, they'll kind of like it.

Why it's ok: Because you're wrong. The best video games may still outperform the best mobile apps, but that gap is shrinking with every new release. The app stores are teeming with creative ideas from innovative developers, and games like Horn, Infinity Blade, Ridiculous Fishing--and yes, even Angry Birds--can be just as gratifying to play as many console title. It's okay to lift your embargo on app games because they're evolving at a rapid pace. That, and you'll have way more fun being less of a snob.
