I'm a current PS3 owner and made the effort to get a 60GB PS3 because I want my PS3 to play all Playstation games. Rather than simply being wowed by graphics I like to have the biggest choice possible in games, with the PS3 already being pretty impressive and development times for the most modern, most complicated games being so great now the PS3 doesn't feel like its coming to the end of its life, it feels as if it could easily last 10-12 years. Only this year we will have GTA 5 for it which promising to be very impressive and immersive in graphics, what do we need a new console for?
The PS3's library of games isn't as comprehensive as PS2 for precisely the reason that PS3 games are much more graphics intensive and complicated in nature, the PS4 coming along can only reduce the choice in available games by shutting down the PS3 far too early.

The PS4, so is it worth it?

Having to buy a new console just to get a few new games they probably could have developed for the PS3 instead if it weren't for the "market" such as the new Uncharted and Final Fantasy, the PS4 just means the end of what is already a highly developed console for what is only an incremental bit of progress in gaming development, the PS3 was much more of a chasm leap from the PS2 in terms of technology as was the PS2 from the PS1.

Goodbye to your old games, not only is Sony planning to offer ZERO support for your PS3 library but it's also planning to be hostile to second hand games with the rumour that PS4 games might be tied to the Sony Entertainment Network online. Unsurprisingly the only access you'll get to PS2 and PS1 games will be that way too.

There's nothing that jumps out and "wows" you in terms of PS4's new features, a few of them sound nice enough but could have easily been applied to/added to the PS3. Streaming games to Vita, recording your last few minutes in gameplay, the eye movement in the controller with camera and microphone, these aren't quantum type leaps like the last time such as the Blu-Ray drive over DVD, the ability to use Wi-Fi for the first time and network gaming in the box, the PS4 is a victim I feel of the PS3 actually being so good, so good that the improvement over the PS2 was massive, it felt exciting to get a PS3 but I'm stopping there.

The PS4 will probably pack less features than that first PS3 60GB with the PS2 backwards compatibility, it'll probably have no SD card reader, it's rumoured not to be playing Audio CD's yet it has the same Blu-Ray drive, it's all about the graphics which I feel are already impressive on the PS3, the PS3 even offers 3D in games already and support for 3D Blu-Rays! The only thing the PS4 will do is bring it on par with PC gaming as it's improved, but big flippin' deal the key thing to making games fun is ideas and content. Nintendo isn't the front runner of graphics and their consoles are underpowered yet some of their games are indeed the most fun, surely Playstation must realise this too? If you keep changing consoles every 5 minutes and closing each library off, then you're not build up a lot of content are you?

"From an indie developer's point of view, this reveal was a disappointment," said Ragnar Tørnquist, founder of Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey developer Red Thread Games.

"I had hoped for more from Microsoft, an assurance that they will be more open and inviting to the rising tide of new games and studios, but there was no mention of it or sign that they are changing the way Xbox Live will work for indie developers, which makes it hard for us to get excited about the platform.

"There's room for things to change or be clarified closer to launch, but for now our development focus will be on PlayStation 4. Sony has explicitly stated their support of indie development, and we are already looking at taking Dreamfall Chapters onto their platform.

It's no secret that Stig Asmussen's team is working on, supposedly, a new IP for PS4. It's been rumoured that the said IP could be a first/third person shooter, with open world elements, and magic sprinkled in. Now, I, for one, think it's a complete and utter waste of a brilliant first party studio's talent to work on yet another exclusive shooter. Sony already has exclusive shooters in the form of Resistence and Killzone, and it would be quite foolish if they tasked a studio known for some of the most epic gaming creations, the God of War games, to work on a similar thing. That aside, do you think they could end up showing this at E3 this year? It must be noted that Stig and some of the other people who worked on GoW3 were nowhere to be seen in GoW: Ascension's making off videos. Some have even been promoted to higher positions. Plus, GoW3 shipped in March 2010, and there has been no word whatsoever on what Stig and the rest have been working on.

Do you want SSM to release another shooter? If so, would you want it to be military based or something more like Bioshock? The genre is incredibly crowded as it is, and everyone knows that Call of Duty is still going to sell a trillion more copies than any shooter Sony conjures up. Also, is a showing at E3 likely?

Speculate away, kiddies.

I was thinking of connecting my PS3 to the UPS because of loadshedding(1 hour after every two hours).I have been trying to download a game from psn and so far have onlyu downloaded less than 3gb.
The UPS is 1000Va(Or W i am not really sure but what it is)
With 2-3 fans 2-3 lights and 2 laptops plugged in the UPS can last upto 2.5-3 hrs with one battery
So i was thinking that the PS3 fat should have the power consumption of approximatily 120-130(confirm this?) so if i reduce the load i can easily get it working on my ups
But before i do anything i wanted to confirm if using a ups can damage a ps3

NOTE: i wont be playing while its running on PS3. will only be used for downloads like dcuo or game patches(cannot be paused)

HI Im Harmane, living in Lahore. I have a Playstation 3 slim 320 GB harddisk. I dont have a decent tv for myself to play my ps3 on, so I've searched, and seen that it's best for me to buy a good LCD or LED monitor of about 20" screen. That way I can connect my ps3 using a HDMI to DVI converter, and experience HD gaming. But there seem to be a lot of options to choose from. I need suggestions for a good LCD or LED, that gives value for money, is not too expensive, resolution should be 1920*1080 which is required by many games. And please tell what other things I need to consider. Any help will be much appreciated!!!
thanks.

Developer and Publisher Gaijin Entertainment has announced that its military MMO game War Thunder will make its console debut on PlayStation 4 in time for the holiday 2013 season. War Thunder aims to provide PS4 players with "unparalleled first person gameplay entertainment experiences" that will allow them to enter into action filled, highly explosive World War II battles from the air, mobilized on the ground or out at sea.

You can check out the announcement teaser above in addition to the official description of the project below:

Gaijin Entertainment will optimize the potent power of PS4 and its next generation computer entertainment system to redefine War Thunder’s rich gameplay with powerful graphics and speed, intelligent personalization, deeply integrated social capabilities, and innovative cloud options. War Thunder will feature stunning lifelike dynamics of real-time flight and precision in its details of planes, tanks and war ships, and intuitive controls thanks to the new gamepad Dual Shock 4. The power of PS4 will allow developers to include improved head-tracking system, easier socializing tools, smart and easy options to record, stream and share homemade gameplay videos and will have full support of PlayStation Cloud.

“We're convinced that our cooperation with Sony will not only make the War Thunder franchise better, but it will give our fans a new level of gaming experience that will figuratively blown their mind,” said Gaijin Entertainment’s Creative Director Kirill Yudintsev. “Partnering with Sony Computer Entertainment is the most natural progression for the War Thunder brand, from our hugely successful beginnings on PC with more than 1.5 million players, to our recent announcement that War Thunder is under development for mobile devices. We are excited to bring War Thunder to the leading next-generation platform, the PS4.”

Now what i m worried about is that its not sliced and i cant hack it as it will not be mine so if i buy the legit games will i be able to sell them at little loss in august or september (what i mean is will the game prices go down when PS4 is about to be released?)
and the second question is if u need anything special to play in 3D?(beside 3D TV and Glasses :P) and also are all PS3 games can be played in 3D?

Tales of Symphonia: Perfect Edition—a high-definition remaster of Tales of Symphonia and its sequel Dawn of the New World—is in development for PlayStation 3, according “internal sources” of Spanish games site Koi-nya.

The outlet recently sat down with Tales series producer Hideo Baba at Expomanga in Madrid, where he was asked if he could confirm the rumor’s validity.
While Baba was not in a position to confirm the game’s existence, he did say something like that would be “a representation of the dreams and hopes of the fans who have long wanted it,” and that we might know something about it soon.

Also according to Koi-nya’s sources, both Tales of Symphonia: Perfect Edition and Tales of Xillia 2 are being planned for North American releases.

As all rumors go, take this one with a grain of salt. We’ll mail Namco Bandai for comment.
In the last 24 hours, Shahid's passion for games has been evident in the way he's treated fans and developers on Twitter. It's utterly refreshing to watch this process unfold; the transparency of a Sony employee chatting with indie devs and inviting them to email him directly has me more excited for the immediate future of PlayStation than anything. This is the kind of support that sells systems, that guarantees the best surprises. Braid and LIMBO came to Xbox 360 first. Bastion, Fez, Super Meat Boy, and Minecraft have yet to come to PlayStation at all. But if things keep up like this, the next generation will look very, very different. PS4 will rule the indie roost.

God of War Dev Might Have A Surprise At E3

Sony Santa Monica, developers of the popular God of War series, might have some tricks up its sleeve at E3 2013 as recent reports suggest that the company might be preparing to unveil its latest project on the industry's biggest stage.

As outlined by Gamespot, Sony Santa Monica recently tweeted what comes across as either a countdown to something unexpected or simply excitement on behalf of the studio for the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo. "4 weeks to E3…" reads the tweet, but while only assumptions can be made about its pointing to a proper reveal, recent listing for jobs at the studio provide a more solid source of information.

Sony Santa Monica is currently seeking a Senior Combat Designer who has experience with developing first and/or third-person shooters with knowledge of design in the realm of vehicular combat being a plus for the position . Meanwhile, another job listing seeking an experienced developer of open-world games was recently spotted by CVG, but has since been removed from the company's website.

While we have to piece these tidbits together, it might not be shocking to see Sony Santa Monica unveil its latest project at E3 2013 considering their timing.
